  1. Pig Pen made a cameo for a while during the Peanuts Celebration a few years ago. Not sure if the costume stuck around or not.
  2. My thing is, if when the park is extremely busy, VIP or Preferred Parking fills up, that’s a pill I can swallow. Like, less than five times a year. If it’s a situation where you have to get there at 10:00am to park in Preferred then that’s a problem. This isn’t a Gold Pass benefit. This is something for which I paid extra. Plus, this wasn’t marketed as “first come, first serve” when most bought the passes so I think that many assumed the park had a plan when they clearly didn’t. If you buy season tickets to a baseball team, do you not get your seat you paid for if the game sells well?
  3. What “do not enter” barrier?
  4. I’m really bummed about the bottled water. That was the big selling point for me and my girlfriend. I suppose I’d settle for having at least the drink cup cups there since the Kinzel Cups aren’t really great for actually quenching thirst. Someone from Carowinds came into VIP. They were told they weren’t allowed in but they’d make a one time exception. I’ll never understand this. I also with this were clarified earlier rather than just in a Tony blog in September in which myself and others were able to access the CP VIP before, during, and after his blog. Additionally, when we got our line skips we were assured that they were good there - and they printed them for us three days in a row without question. I just wish there was more clarity when people bought them. I understand that the emails inviting people to buy were sent out in error but still - not my problem. They also haven’t had any issue taking my money each month. To be fair, the parking is nice. The new VIP looks cool. No used getting the line skips at KI. They also said “enhanced” Pass Perks. Maybe that’ll be cool? We shall see…
  5. Preferred Parking is first-come-first serve. As of 3:00ish on a busy day (Opening Day) which is likely heavy on Prestige Pass. So far, it seems like they will be able to accommodate most crowds. We shall see. I’m sure it’ll be problematic some days. Several dozen spots left so far.
  6. If it doesn’t hurt the experience, why does it matter? The alternative may be removing the ride…
  7. I met the head pastry chef Belen yesterday. I talked to her extensively about her process since she is almost solely responsible for the creative side of things such as Sweet Spot. Super nice lady! It would be cool if they had her on the KIC podcast some time.
  8. Please note that there is no show in the Peanuts Showplace during the main season this year. It will be used for a meet and greet for characters. I haven’t seen or heard anything except that what they did with the space is really cool.
  9. To be fair, it’s a temporary VIP area and it was a day where Prestige pass holders were very likely to be there.
  10. I’m not a stickler for representations of rides (like on the park map) being particularly accurate, but I did enjoy this one: This looks like they inverted spare Banshee track and put the Great Pumpkin train on it. I thought it was fun! By the way, banners like this are all around the park this year and I really like them!
  11. One should note that, as of now, they are having you flash your pass rather than scanning it at Preferred. So for those who have it in a wallet app, you may want to pull it up or have the physical card ready.
  12. Weird that the fountains are on today when (at least to my knowledge) there will be not guests of any type today. I’m sure there’s a reason, but I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s being stress tested or they’re doing photos of something. A myriad of possibilities, I suppose.
  13. I concur. Mystic reopened around 7:30. I don’t hate the jazz, but I would rather see the grand classical music of the past. I am glad they no longer do the symphony versions of pop songs because once you figure out what song it is you can’t un-hear it, and I am VERY glad that they got ride of the cringe pop music that we were stuck with for a decade. GOSH I hope it’s an actual fountain and not a “fountain looking planter” like you described! All of the other parks have tons of cool water features around the property, and while we do have the ultimate fountain, it’s pretty much the only one left on property. If it’s a planter it’ll be a huge disappointment, but if it’s a fountain it’ll be one of the neatest touches of Adventure Port. Area looks promising, for what it is, though.

  15. They have a heat protocol for days that are over 90 or so degrees that cuts out some elements of the show. That’s probably what you saw. Fifteen minutes seems generous, I think it was more like 10. Regardless, give the show another shot!
  16. I mean… if it’s good…
  17. I rarely eat something large and sweet like an elephant ear or cinnamon roll and don’t regret it, except Dollywood’s cinnamon bread - so worth the tummy ache! But with that being said, I’d like to see a bakery that sells something like fresh whole wheat bread. Something like that with maybe a special butter would make an excellent snack, wouldn’t be terribly irresponsible health-wise, and would be a good food for the calorie replenishment that guests are seeking. Does this sound good to anyone else or am I just old and boring now?
  18. You really think they’d only use all the development cost they put into that show in one year? Off The Rails was the questionable one. Huge cast, outside contractors, speciality skills. Probably a pretty expensive show. Of course, terribly under-recognized too. I’m glad it’s back.
  19. Many repeats. Not complaining since the lineup last year was awesome! New Bandstand show! Full list: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/entertainment/retrospect
  20. KI used to have its own pretzels. They were where Auntie Anne’s is now on I-Street. They had several unique options such as a pepperoni pizza pretzel, which was really good. Of course, it’s not about what’s good, it’s about what sells. Anyone from the Cincinnati area? Ever visit Kenwood Mall? Do you see the 20-person-deep line at Auntie Anne’s even on slow days? How many people are in line at the knock off pretzel place that’s cheaper and has a similar product? Typically none. There you go.
  21. Snake Pit 1 (Philly cheese steak), Snake Pit 2 (burgers and hot dogs), T+C, now this. Although it didn’t change names, everything about it changed during its run as Snake Pit, so I’d consider it a total of four turnovers.
  22. This is awesome! Okay, now do the Motel 6 near Kings Island.
