Due to a situation out of Kings Island's control, the Run Kings Island charity walk has been cancelled for 2008. Kings Island plans to work with the sponsors and hopes to bring it back for the 2009 season.

MYSTERY NO MORE--KI BUILDING HYPERCOASTER
BoddaH1994 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
There were several different signs. Some of which dropped clues, some intentionally misled. When the doors of perception are cleansed things will appear as they truly are. -
MYSTERY NO MORE--KI BUILDING HYPERCOASTER
BoddaH1994 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
OMG,Still no name given.Im dissapointed. The park basically gave you the name of the coaster on one of the signs they had posted on the 4th. I'm EXTREMELY shocked that no one has picked up on it. -
Well you should be glad that there was no draft beer because there may have been more fights. How do you suppose? Statistics? Facts behind that statement or is it just opinion? I think there may actully be a proven correlation between draft beer and rowdy crowds. Probably people consume more than if they have cans or bottles. I know a guy who opened a club about a year ago and elected not to serve draft beer because he "didn't want to draw that type of crowd." Could be a prejudice.

I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BoddaH1994 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
I didn't badmouth anybody. I simply supplied the facts that were neglected from the WCPO report. I am curious as to why when 4 employees say something negative it's fact, but when 200 disagree it's hearsay. Woofer hit the nail right on the head -- you can go up to anybody's work and the happiest employees can make it look like Disneyland and the most disgruntled can make it look like Auschwitz. -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BoddaH1994 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
I mean, all I can really tell you to do is next time you're at KI and you see an international worker, ask them about it yourself. I think you'll hear very different opinions than the four involved. I'm not trying to justify anything, I'm simply supplying everyone with the facts that WCPO was also supplied with and chose to omit from their report. Of course, WCPO never let's the truth get in the way of a good story. -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BoddaH1994 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
Again, the $1200 per month was for all 4 people, not each. I saw a bunch of international employees toying around on the internet the other day. I should have taken a picture. From what I understand, the other international associates aren't happy with the 4 who caused the bad PR because they're afraid that their coworkers will look down upon them. They really want nothing to do with this. The vast majority are very hard workers that simply get lumped into the same group as these 4. -
You're talking as if Kings Island has already served desert in what will be a multi-course meal. You'll have more opportunities for historic moments at Kings Island.

I talked to a park official yesterday asking what record was broken, apparently it was the distance record. According to most accepted standards, 5/8" is the standard highwire diameter. The link that Interpreter posted was for a wire over an inch thick. I mean come on... they high has well have been walking on an I-Beam.

Air Show and Skyjumpers Delayed Until Tomorrow

Maybe they changed it. I made that post from my Blackberry immediately after being told 3:00 and 7:00 by the KI FTers. -
Air Show and Skyjumpers Delayed Until Tomorrow

Did it not happen or something? -
Invertigo, or "That loud yellow thing" as Wallenda called it, was not operating during the walks. Other rides in the park did operate including Drop Zone. I guess it's just a matter of distance, but I can tell you that from the Bandstand, the park might have just as well been closed that day (sans the fountains being on).

It may have rained on Kings Island’s parade this 4th of July, but it didn’t put a damper on the incredible live entertainment lineup that was offered at the park on Independence Day! Following a short rain delay, Rick Wallenda of the Flying Wallendas made an amazing walk over International Street in front of thousands of onlookers. The walk took about 20 minutes as Wallenda had predicted. Less than an hour after completing the first walk, Wallenda did it again… except this time he double the distance. He began at the Eiffel Tower and slowly paced his way over the International Bandstand, over the Royal Fountain, over the International Restaurant and into the main plaza area for a distance of 1000ft. It wasn’t over yet. Rick Wallenda’s grandfather, the legendary Karl Wallenda, had walked 1800’ over Coney Mall on a high wire in 1975 and Rick was determined to break his grandfather’s record. Upon reaching the end of the high wire, Rick Wallenda immediately turned around and began the long journey back to the Eiffel Tower. “Stabilize the ropes!” Wallenda yelled to the people on the ground who were holding anchored ropes intended to keep his main high wire from making dangerous lateral movements. Unlike the rowdiness Robbie Knievel’s jump in May, Wallenda requested silence for the roughly 40 minutes that he performed his skywalk. The park was eerily quiet with the exception of some slight whispers and the serene roar of the Royal Fountain. Onlookers began to cheer prematurely as Wallenda made the final steps to the Eiffel Tower. “Quiet please!” pleaded Wallenda, “I’m almost there!” Upon reaching the Eiffel Tower, Rick Wallenda was treated to a roaring ovation as he threw his arms in the air in celebration of his personal victory. A loud pyrotechnic explosion followed and streamers ascended down from the tower to the onlookers below. As much of an exhilarating experience as that was, it wasn’t all that Kings Island had to offer this 4th of July. The Kings Island Clown Band made another appearance at the park and roamed International Street playing some old time favorite songs. The Clown Band was accompanied by many mimes, jugglers and street performers. The day ended with a bang as Kings Island and Rozzy’s Famous Fireworks presented an amazing fireworks spectacular! The booms and colors of the fireworks complemented a beautiful lighting display projected onto the Eiffel Tower. Click here to see photos of Kings Island’s 4th of July Star Spanged Celebration! I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BoddaH1994 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
The employees also stated that they were surprised that there was no furniture supplied to them and that there was no internet access. Yet, they were not to be supplied furniture and they do have internet access. So how can the students try and claim that they tried so hard to contact an HR person when other issues they brought up are false? I also find it hard to believe that these students, from another country, were able to get in touch with the local media so easily, but found difficulty in speaking with an HR representative that is located on the same property that they work. If I was in their position, and I felt slighted with my living conditions, I would have been beating doors down until the issues were resolved. THANK YOU. Those were my thoughts exactly. How can they claim to have no phone, internet, TV, etc yet still be able to contact the I-Team, or even know what the I-Team is or what it does? I'm in the process of painting my room right now and have stuff thrown everywhere. Think WCPO would run that story? The conditions are terrible! -

I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BoddaH1994 replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
I think it goes beyond sensationalism into the realm of irresponsibility. They take one person's incident and make it look like it's a typical experience. Why make consumers, especially in times like this, afraid to purchase when 99.999999% of companies make 99.999999% of their clients happy? They find that ONE guy and glorify his story. -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?

Yet another case of ignorance over facts. The actual answer is YES, they should have been fired. This is not simply my opinion. It is stated in their handbook that they are NOT under any condition to talk to the media. Same goes for the domestic workers. Plus I can guarentee that unless your the head honch or PR guy of your work, the same is probably true for you. If you don't believe me, call the I-team on your work and see if you have a job the next day. Don said that it wasn't his decision to fire them or not, which is absolutely true. They have their own supervisor to make that decision. Would you rather have had him go on TV and just say yes or no when it may or may not be true? Here are some actual facts about the internationals, not this I-Team low-ratings-booster garbage that they attempt to pass off as journalism. I realize that some of this may be repeating somethings people have said. 1) The internationals pay $300/month, which is $75 a week. They don't pay $1200/month. 2) The students are made fully aware that their apartments are NOT furnished before they leave their home countries. It is stated in the job offer that they get that they are offered these certain amenities: utilities, beds or mattresses, kitchen appliances and laundry facilities. 3) The apartments they live in do have computer/internet access. 4) There was a change in housing and the stundents were made aware of it BEFORE leaving their countries, this includes those who appeared in the story. 5) Almost all housing units are in the condition stated above, with the exception of one... which is still in the process of being remodeled, and is was ironically chosen by the I-Team as a representation of all of the housing. 6) Our friends at WCPO were made aware of all of these facts and chose to ignore them in order to bring you a story that's absolutely entertaining but simply not true. Next time I see anything on WCPO news, I'm going to question it's integrity after this one. -
Rick Wallenda who just broke the world highwire skywalk record at a distance of 2,000ft will be live on Good Morning America via satellite from Kings Island July 5th.
