  1. Oh, Lord... where do we start.... I'm sure you know how conservative I am from pervious posts, but here's my take: I guess it's one of those things where you couldn't really understand it unless you were gay. Being straight, I find it hard to believe that someone could be born gay. But hey -- I'm not living that lifestyle, so I really don't know for myself. I suppose it's kind of like a white person acting like they know what it's like to be discriminated against for their race. It's like, I'm sure they know what discrimation is, and can somehow imagine how it feels, but couldn't ever actually know what it's really like. Same goes for this -- who are us straight people to tell gay people why they're gay? It's funny -- it seems as though gay people primarily just want to be left alone. You're the one who seems to be trying to push your beleifs onto them? Do they rally? Sure, but so do all religions, political groups, even sports fans. The Constitution of the United States guarentees the right of peaceful assembly under the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. So.... you're saying that a guy who came to Earth to die for our sins, washed the feet of his apostles, ate with prostitutes, and passed on a message of love, compassion, empathy, and good will is going to darn you to hell for your orientation. Oh, but you, who preaches a message of hate, will certainly go to Heaven. I'd go ahead and crack open that New Testament again -- I think you missed a little bit of it when you read the Cliff's Notes. Oh, did he now? I'm pretty sure that there are a million people who will say that, but that was never in the Bible. Oh, and don't give me that Sodom and Gomorrah crap, that was NOT the intention of that story. You're going to have it, so I figure I'll leave the thread until someone violates TOS, then we'll get ride of it. Agreed? In conclusion, I say... screw it, we're all different.
  2. I agree with the previous poster -- forget coasters, I want the Flying Eagles back!
  3. No, I would have publicized it as the date got closer. Check the history. I list it every year. <G> Money goes to good causes. 'Pride Night' is a unique situation as far as "promoting" it on the site. Typically we don't allow private events to be promoted on the site because it turns into either confusion, or a "you're not invited to my party" situation. However, (and correct me if I'm wrong) anyone can attend Pride Night so long as they purchase tickets through several Cincinnati GBLT groups. So as a result of that, anyone who would be interested in that event can technically go.
  4. Here is the denial as reported by KICentral's corperate affialte, Cox Ohio Publishing: Cedar Point owner denies it's talking sale SANDUSKY, Ohio — The owner of the Cedar Point and Kings Island amusement parks is denying a report that the company is in talks toward a possible sale. On its Web site, the New York Post today is reporting that Sandusky-based Cedar Fair is negotiating with investment firm Destiny Capital Solutions about a proposed $4.1 billion buyout. In a statement, Cedar Fair C-E-O Dick Kinzel says his company is not currently discussing a sale with Destiny or any other party. But he acknowledges that Cedar Fair's board has instructed management to look for ways to boost value to shareholders. Cedar Fair's Ohio properties also include Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom.
  5. Ha... I see what happened. The Cincinnati Steam are a minor league baseball team, the Queen City Steam are a Jr 'B' hockey team.
  6. I think that's absolutely why they do that. Probably their marketing strategy is to allow all of the parks to prove the product themselves.
  7. I guess we'll have just have to wait for the season to start to see.
  8. Sourced point towards them removing themeing to repair the ride. It's all on wheels -- it can be done, and easily.
  9. ...I'm NOT starting this debate again, but although the enthusiast community doesn't, Kings Island counds Avatar as a coaster.
  10. ^ Don, there's an official roster in another thread.
  11. I've never had a problem with Bondi, then again, I really don't do the waterpark much.
  12. If you purchased tickets to the event, please click here and make sure that your name is on the roster.
  13. Well, if Interp is right, then FoF would not longer be at KI by now so they wouldn't put the logo on the merch if it was to be gone.
  14. The 4th is the KIC event, but you won't have too much ride time those days if you do the tours and whatnot.
  15. Did they ever change the Maxx Passes? I also upgraded from a KI pass to a Maxx Pass really early in the season. My Maxx pass is red, but I still get to park in the Gold lot. Is there any difference between the Maxx passes purchased in April and the ones purchased yesterday? Do all Maxx Passholders get Gold benefits? On that same note, don't forget that the beginning of this season was a lot of firsts for a lot of people. On top of that, Maureen, who was guest experience manager at the time was in one of her last days with the company on opening day. Also, don't forget that her position wasn't even filled until a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure things will get better now.
  16. There was a day about 3 years ago in which most of Coney Mall was under at least 3" of water on the midway. That was after the rain had fallen.
  17. Oh -- there are a million possibilities.. There of course is the ride moving theory, as mentioned above. However Flight of Fear at Kings Island always operated normally, so the theory about it being moved is still officially unconfirmed. I'm glad it's not, though. Ever taken this into consideration: Why isn't there any merch for The Racer, Adventure Express, Reptar yet there is merch for The Beast, Sonny, Vortex, Italian Job, etc? Simply put -- they'll stock the merch that sells. Rides that are "legendary" or still carry a novelty sell much better than other rides.
  18. I assure you, if that ride were dangerous, it wouldn't be open. Do you really think they'll move water rides from Geauga to Kings Island? I can actually see them keeping the waterpark at Geauga Lake.
  19. Not anymore -- they moved the launch site because it was too close to Firehawk and that's why they shut down Racer and Beast.
  20. Don't put this guy down, he's absolutely right. I think I recall Mr. CoasersRZ telling me about the land surveying equipment that he saw from The Racer on the last operating day last year. He said it was back by Flight of Fear, to the right. Being an architecture student, he knew that they wouldn't bring in that type of equipment unless it was a reasonabily sized project... I wonder whatever came of that...
  21. 22. Don't forget -- what's bad for Six Flags is bad for Fair. As far as the general public is concerned, they're all the same thing.
  23. Depp was in the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
  24. We can't emphasize that enough -- the meal ticket is your ticket to the whole event, not just the meal. If you do not have a meal ticket, you can not get a lanyard which means that you can not go on any of the tours or do any of the activities. I wish we had the ability to open up more tickets, or be able to do on-site registration, but that's simply not an option. Remember that the South Tolls will be open early on that day, around 8:45. Be early! It is very important that lanyards are distributed in a timely fashion so that the Flight of Fear tour can happen on time. Don't forget to dress appropriately. The 10 day forecast is saying that the day will be perfect, about 87 degrees and sunny. Remember to wear clothing that is appropriate for being outdoors and walking for extended periods of time. Remember to wear shoes that are comfortable! Also, due to the action-packed agenda, we recommend eating breakfast before arriving or picking up a snack while you are there. The International Restaurant picnic will not happen until 5:15. I want to again remind everyone that if you got an RSVP confirmation it isn't necessarily a receipt. You should have gotten a total of two emails: one to confirm your RSVP and another to confirm you order. Remember that you must have the ticket that they mail to you to get your lanyard. Printing either emails won't do that for you. If you have any doubts, please call Kings Island's Guest Relations phone at 1-800-288-0808. The staff of KICentral has nothing to do with the vending of the tickets. We're just sponsoring the event. Again, if you have any worries about your ticket sales, it would be best if you called the number listed above ASAP. Due to the fact that we cut ticket sales a week before the event, all tickets will be mailed, none will be held at Will Call. Remember, your meal ticket is both your ticket to get a lanyard (and in turn your ticket to do the special activities) and it is also the ticket you present in the International Restaurant so keep your meal ticket in a safe place at the event because you will need it at two different points through out the day. Remember that the park is going out on a limb for you guys so make sure you are showing respect to the employees and following all posted and dictated rules. Remember that there are thousands of members of KICentral and you are representing them by wearing your lanyard and attending the event. If you would like to see activities like this in the future, it is absolutely necessary that the reputation of this site is not negatively influenced. Also, it looks like the lanyards will only be having peoples' usernames on them. Make sure that you are introducing yourselves to the people around you. I can assure you that the best part of this event will be all of the friends you will be making. Some of the best people I've ever met have been through this site, and I want you to have the same blessing. Remember - we're all Kings Island enthusiasts, so we all have common ground. You're really going to be robbing yourself if you act shy at the event. I hope you guys are as excited as I am, Ryan
  25. That's funny -- Down here in northern KY, we had a consistent drizzle all day, Kings Island has a monsoon, and Dane is camping up between Kings Island and Dayton and didn't see a drop of rain.
