  1. The park will be just overall more crowded. I imagine you'll see a much bigger impact after 5pm since they have the Twilight Sale + Concert package available. Of course, most people will be at the concert by 7:30, but it seems as thought the nights of concerts are typically more crowded regardless.
  2. Good catch. Please referr all posts to the link mentioned above. When did you start going to KI and where did you hear about KIC?
  3. 1992 -- I only experienced one visit to the park in the pre-Paramount era. I remember the big buzz about Kings Island was that there wasn't any kind of major change to it, it just had the "Paramount's" name.
  4. Calling all Bearcats fans! Come meet the athletes of the University of Cincinnati at Kings Island this weekend. The UC Men's and Women's basketball teams will be at the park Saturday, the football team will be there Sunday, and the Men's and Women's soccer teams will be there Monday. Kings Island continues its commitment to education, celebrating the accomplishments of 17 extraordinary young people. Joined by family and peers, scholarship recipients are applauded for their years of service to Kings Island, exceptional leadership qualities and pursuit of higher education. More information available here. As an unfortunate sign of the end of the regular season, Endless Summer on Ice will do its last show on Sunday. Come see the long awaited return of ice skating to the Paramount Theatre one last time. School's out, so it's time to party! Follow the talented cast of world-class ice dancers as they bust out of the building on the last day of school, encounter bears and other surprises at summer camp, stop by the race course for some mid-summer racing action, celebrate Indpendence Day, and finally return to school with a good 'ol fashion back to school mixer! Show times are 1:00, 3:00, 5:30, & 7:30 and the Paramount Theatre defrosts on Sunday, August 19th! Boomerang Bay Water Park Resort at Kings Island will open for five additional days this month (August 20-24) to provide guests a great opportunity to enjoy all the down-under excitement in the park's very own Australian Oasis. 5. The University of Cincinnati men's and women's basketball team will be at Kings Island on Saturday, the UC football team on Sunday, and the men's and women's soccer team on Monday to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs. Noon to 1:30pm is the approximate time, each day along International Street.
  6. I wasn't so much into KI when I was in highschool (graduated in 01) however I have skipped many many college classes to do things such as TV filmings and media days. Fortunately, being a marketing major, I can be honest with the professors and they take it as some sort of learning experience and excuse it.
  7. To answer your question (sans other variable such as picnics) days when schools are in are typically less busy.
  8. Again -- please put topics under the proper headings. This is clearly not a poll. This is your final warning.
  9. I think you're right about Dominator's loop. Also, don't forget to add Chang to your list at SFKK, weighing in at 121' 7"
  10. My guess? Geauga Lake will become a waterpark only. I think that the operating expenses of the dry park outweigh the benefits that the park offers. It's Cedar Point's next door neightbor, yet Six Flags doesn't own it anymore, Paramount Parks will never own it, and no other truly reputable chain would want it. It served its purpose. Canada's Wonderland will be held as long as they can hold it. I think it will ultimately be sold, however I think they'll do everything in their power to keep it. Unless there's something to Star Trek: The Experience that we don't know about, I think they'll certainly hold onto it until it's no longer profitable. That's one of their few properties that show positive cash flow through Q4 and the beginning of Q1. What about Great America? That property is bought, leased, under contract, and every other loophole mess you can put a property through. Can they really even hold onto it?
  11. The Greater Cincinnati area is certainly full of a lot of personality. A lot of which is things that 'outsiders' wouldn't understand. Glad you had a good time!
  12. This has been officially deemed an illegal, bootlegged, false, and dangerous video. Everyone knows that there is ONE train tour, forever and ever. Amen. THAT is not the train tour!
  13. I was one of the lucky ten that Interp mentioned above who got to ride on the last public cycle of the Flying Eagles.
  14. Yeah, when I used to be a supervisor at the park we used to staff like a Saturday on concert days. Back then, we had about 3 or 4 Timberwolf concerts a week. Oh wow... we have, what? 3 or 4 a year now?
  15. All associates of Kings Island who have email have @Paramountparks email addresses.
  16. There IS an Islamic day at Great America, though....
  17. I'm sorry I didn't post this earlier, but today is the 12th Sunday in August, which means that Stricker's Grove, located in Ross, OH, is open to the public for Family Day. The hours are 3pm-11pm. I'm not entirely sure about the cost, but I believe it's in the range of $10. If you have the day free, it's worth checking out. Stricker's Grove's Web Site Check out Stricker's Grove on RCDB.com Hope to see you guys there! Ryan
  18. I have not received a press release about such an event. I'm not certain that it will happen....

Don't forget -- the brakes have always been there. They're just a different type of brake now which slows you down more abruptly.
  20. I do appreciate your comments -- and all of the kind words everyone has had to say. Like I've said before, KIC Day was supposed to be a one time thing, however it seems like it will likely be back by popular demand. We are absolutely taking any and all comments you guys make VERY seriously. We really do appreciate the feedback -- whether it's good or bad. Then again, what's an event at KI without ending the night on The Beast?
  21. Beat the Heat at Boomerang Bay Five additional days added to popular water park's season at Kings Island. Kings Island, Ohio - Boomerang Bay Water Park Resort at Kings Island will open for five additional days this month (August 20-24) to provide guests a great opportunity to enjoy all the down-under excitement in the park's very own Australian Oasis. Daily operations for Boomerang Bay were originally scheduled to end August 19. Boomerang Bay offers more than 50 water activities including 30 water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, surfable waves, three family activity areas and careening waterfalls surrounded by lush landscaping. In addition, Boomerang Bay offers a variety of five-star, resort quality amenities such as lounge chair-side waiter service, cabanas, full bar facilities and family changing rooms. Entrance to Boomerang Bay is included with park admission. "We've had great water park weather this summer and many of our guests have requested that we extend the daily operating schedule for Boomerang Bay," said Greg Scheid, Kings Island's vice president and general manager. "We're pleased that we're going to be able to meet our guests' request by offering five additional days of fun at our fantastic water park." Boomerang Bay operating hours August 20-24 will be 12-6 p.m. All of the water park's most popular attractions are expected to be open. Some attractions starting times may vary.
  22. I totally agree. There are several coasters that I can pin as being some of the best, Magnum, Voyage, Phantom's Revenge... but NOTHING compares to a late night ride on The Beast.
  23. Can you tell me whether he had a warm-up act? We bought tickets and then found out we'd be across town until 7:30. No big deal if he has a warm-up. Thanks. If he had one at the State Fair, it doesn't necessarily mean that he'll have one at KI. Then again, I've been to hundreds of concerts and the only person who just did NOT have an opening act was Bruce Springstien. His concert, in turn, was almost 3 hours long. Ryan
  24. ^ I agree. Had I went, I would have looked forward to the radio show more than the concert itself.
  25. I got about 1,000 IMs yesterday asking why I wasn't at the park. The truth of the matter is, I just couldn't spare $60 since I have hundreds of dollars worth of books to buy for school. I do, however, feel as thought I did my little part by promoting on this site. Wonderful wonderful cause... I'm glad you had a good time, Tom. Ryan
