  1. Let me make this very clear: Drop Zone was down because it had a MINOR technical issue and they had to order a part from Intamin before they were willing to reopen it. The closure of Drop Zone for any extended period of time was NOT a direct result of the incident at Kentucky Kingdom.
  2. Gold Pass was something that Paramount did to try to get you to purchase your pass early, thus you would visit earlier in the season and have more overall park visits per year. Let's be honest -- Gold pass is expensive to maintain and it's kind of lame. I use the Gold Parking every time I go, but other than that, I haven't used any of the benefits this year. I mean, the walk on passes have been nice in years past, but that's not really a deal breaker for me. I have NEVER used the food package discunts, I'm too might of a night owl to do the ERTs, and I only go to Boomerang Bay about once every two years. I mean, I know that having the ability to do these things is kind of nice, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat for maybe a 10% food discount or something of that nature.
  3. Winterfest, both pre-Paramount and in the Paramount Era was an upcharge with a small discount for passholders of the NEXT year.
  4. Not to mention that the park is typically busy over Labor Day weekend regardless of the factors listed above. Yeah, it should be a big weekend for the park.
  5. I'm sure it was a block violation too. Something like that should NOT be possible on any ride.
  6. Actually, all of the information I have given you was 100% current as of Friday. The reason why I have ephasized that "If" in question whether or not there will be an upcharge is because that decision had not been made. Has it been made in the past 4 days? Maybe maybe not. However, I was assurred by the 'powers that be' that IF there is a charge for Halloween Haunt, you will NOT be dissappointed by the results. Despite common beleif, Cedar Fair is looking after you with this. They want a bigger, better, badder event and they don't want you to have to wait for 5 hours for Club Blood. Also, the reason why they changed the name was to accommodate the fact that the event is a whole new level this year. People would assocate the term "Fear Fest" as seeing the same things they had seen for the past decade, but this is NOT the case. I'm not asking you guys to embrace anything, just put yourselves in "wait and see" mode. Ryan
  7. Clearly season passes are not on sale yet, so the remainder of the season won't be as much of an issue. Don't forget that they black out after labor day weekend for almost a month. I imagine a press release will be out in mid-September-ish with the pass information. I'd predict (and again, this is a forward looking statement that is not in compliance with GAAP) that IF there is an upcharge for Halloween Haunt, you'd get the passholder discount with an 08 pass. Again, I am NOT announcing anything... I do NOT know for sure. I'm just Ryan... a nobody.
  8. Although there will be some changes to the program, I assure you that there will still be 3 passes similar to this year.
  9. I'm looking forward to Dead Awakening too. I really have no information on that show, and BOY do I love a surprise!
  10. Since there have been rumors of Halloween Haunt being an upcharge, I was wondering what, after seeing the list of attractions, you would think would be a fair price for the charge. Please note that this topic is not about whether or not you LIKE the upcharge, but IF you were to pay one, what would be fair?
  11. I can't believe no one has asked this question yet. Clearly Halloween Haunt will have a lot to offer. What do you think sounds best? For me? Club Blood! For a list of the haunt's descriptions, click here.
  12. ^ Doubtful. I'm willing to say that the Maxx Pass/Plus aren't on sale since they're chain-wide and they're not sure of the details yet.
  13. It's funny... I remember WAY back in the PKIG days when everyone was so upset that they made Fearfest free because they didn't like dealing with the crowds...
  14. On that same note, I doubt people's speculation that MaxxPass holders will be getting in free is true at all. That would accomplish... nothing....
  15. Absolutely brilliant. I'd be FAR more excited about seeing some sort of return on Phantom Theatre than even getting the greatest coaster on earth. I really wish the market would dictate that. It would be neat to have a dark ride in Coney Mall that had the look and feel of a classic but the techonology of today. That would be a dream come true.
  16. Huh...just because one park gets a coaster doesnt mean the other parks are on the chopping block!?!? You're right. You can't have a BIG year every year... and even the years that aren't big for you are typically big for someone else (parents with kids, waterpark lovers, flat ride fans). Just wait... KI will have their day to shine.. sooner than later. Ryan

I have no idea what you're talking about... I mean, I can kind of see your point about Club Blood... but still overall.. I don't get it....
  18. I would be fine with that too. I don't really do the haunted attractions but I just love the atmosphere of the park at night during the Holloween season. Again, the possibilities are endless....
  19. I think this is a great thing to point out.....the fact that the show is being produced "in-house "by the Entertainment Department. In fact...most of everything being done this year, including all the new decorations, re-themes, and new haunts are actually being done by Kings Island's staff. Contrary to what the press release would have you believe.....Knott's Berry Farm actaully has very little to do with the changes to this year's event.....except of course for the name. You're absolutely right. But they're also trying to bring the event up to the "calibur" of Knott's Scary Farm, which is certainly a good thing.
  20. You're probably right. Then again, there are some HOT days in August and I've noticed that KI is typically less busy when it's over 95 degrees barring outside factors.
  21. Hate to be "that guy" who brings this up, but has anyone heard if it was supposed to have a significant amount of 'air time'?
  22. That's another decision that has to be made. The UNOFFICIAL word on the street is that they may pull an '00 and close and reopen the park. But that is NOT confirmed. I'd recommend everyone going into "wait and see" mode before getting worked up. I think you're understanding this more than most people. IF Halloween Haunt is an upcharge, you people will benefit the most out of it. Rather than having to fight through ridiculous crowds, you can drop just a few bucks and enjoy most, if not all of the haunts. Not to mention that there will be MORE haunts, a great show (written and produced by our good friend Kevin Brunck) and a whole new level of terror!
  23. Again, it has NOT been announced that it was going to be an upcharge. Any official word will come likely after Labor Day. But you're right -- for a few bucks, I'd be very willing to get a better event with smaller crowds.
  24. This is on the main page, but I realize that most users don't look at it anymore. I was asked to remind the fine folks of KIC that the park will be closed to the public and passholders from August 27th to the 31st. Also, don't forget that if you want to bring friends and family to the park over labor day weekend, discount tickets are available from PKI.com for only $24.95!
  25. The ride strikes me as one that's not very impressive in the POV format, but will be one wild ride in person.
