Cedar Point day trip short report
BoddaH1994 replied to pkiboy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I imagine the info will be out very soon. Also, they've been advertising Halloween Haunt for a week or so now. They started with Cincinnati's Kiss FM, which is when I was nudge the go-ahead to start posting about it. Glad you had a good time at da Point. Ryan -
Some people have personal compensation issues and must take out their agressions on a forum because they lack the social skills to do it in real life.

Someone's getting a new B&M
BoddaH1994 replied to TheKlockster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have heard the same thing, but have questioned the truth of it. When Six Flags bought Geauga Lake, they had Batman installed which is a B & M. I just never understood why PKI could not build a B & M, but SF could especially since GL is closer to CP. Now if it is because Batman is a floorless and nothing at CP is close to that, it would make sense, but there is no reason that PKI could not have put one in then. Not to mention, the last B & M installed at CP was Mantis back in '94. I would imagine that if there was a non-complete clause between CP & B&M it would only last a certain amount of years. I saw a newspaper article right after the Cedar Fair acquisition in which a member of a certain coaster club mentioned that he's really excited about how KI could be getting a coaster by B&M and went on to talk about B&M. Lovely how newspapers will print ANYTHING regardless of how random, stupid, or non-credible it is. To answer your question, non-compete is not the reason. BM only builds within certain specifications, and that was not conducive to the experimental rides that Paramount installed. -
I'd say just the year 2007. Why do I say that? It's a transitional year. Cedar Fair has done some amazing things to Kings Island... and also did some things that didn't go over so well. Regardless, it's their first time out with this and they're still working out the kinks. Things will go better, smoother, and more consistant as time goes on.

That's really hard to predict. I'm not aware of any major picnics going on this weekend, however that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one. Typically Sundays aren't as bad as the rest of the weekend. I hope you have a good time! Ryan

I've heard about some of your antics, Mr. Nick. Don't think the above comment was directed towards you.

The only problem with the parking is that it doesn't work at SFKK. I know the reason behind it (the park doesn't own the parking lot, if you were wondering) but I still see that as being a MAJOR GR issue. Employee: "I'm sorry sir, your parking pass doesn't work at this park." Guest: "It's supposed to work at every Six Flags park." Employee: "Oh, I know... it works at every Six Flags park on earth... except this one." Guest: "Yeah right...."

I think there are a lot of misconceptions about the term "pricing integrity". Pricing integrity means: No more free tickets. No more buy one get one's. No more bring a friend free days. No more easily granted discounts. It does NOT mean: Higher food prices Higher admission prices (necessarily) Higher parking Higher anything.... The trick behind it is, they want people to visit the park, walk up and pay park admission and spend the day there. They do not want people to wait out their park visits until they can get free or heavily discounted tickets. That was a problem under Paramount.

What was I thinking? Where did I get off thinking I knew anything about my ride for 2 years. I'm sure those who ride TRTR once in a blue moon know way more about Tomb Raider than I'll ever know. Also don't forget that working a ride doesn't necessarily mean you know a whole lot about it either. Checking lap bars or running a control panel doesn't exactly require a Phd.

I have a ton of customers asking me if I'm a UC/XU/OSU etc fan. I'm just like, dude I go to NKU because I don't care...

Super Saturator at Carowinds To Go Dry
BoddaH1994 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I do not have an answer to your question, however I can say that it would be completely pointless for CF to sell individual rides. The rides depreciate like crazy. As stated in another post, the only reason to sell a ride would be because it's cheaper that storaging or disposing of it. -
45-ish miles from the corn fields of Edgewood, KY.
-
Uhhhh... no. All that money is paying off the nearly 2 billion in debt Cedar Fair picked up by acquiring the parks.
-
Maybe the park should make that a little better well known to their patrons especially when they advertise and market the park as a "family destination", want to have an event for older folks, make that known in your advertising, not just on some big wooden signs righ tbefore the gates AFTER you've paid for parking. In its own odd way, upcharging for Fearfest would be a way to solve that.
-
Sparky, you know I love you. By the way, the official word for the park is that the cables are fine. Drop Zone is down for some maintanance, however the cable system for the ride is working correctly.

$75,000 missing from Kings Island, supervisor indicted
BoddaH1994 replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island
It's not Kings Island, it's EVERYWHERE. You guys know that I work at Best Buy, and that company does NOT trust its employees at all. They have have to search our coats as we leave, and the loss prevention person has to go through women's purses. Good reason too -- in my five years with that company, I have seen probably 50 employees fired and prosecuted for shoplifting. -
Captain Nemo and I went to KI Saturday for the 'Weird' Al concert. Parking was kind of a mess. They had cones set up to redirect people to the south lots, near Boomerang Bay, which is where I ultimately parked. I showed up around 5:00 and caught Endless Summer, which had a packed house. I always like to see that. Weird Al had around 3,000 people, so it wasn't overly crowded. Gabe and I were lucky enough to purchase our tickets the day of the show and still manage to get 9th row, center.

$75,000 missing from Kings Island, supervisor indicted
BoddaH1994 replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island
I bet this happens all the time at KI and every park, big or small. $75k was a LOT, but I bet hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in money, merch, and food are all stolen by employees on any given day. -
From KICentral's corporate partner, the Dayton Daily News: Makes me proud to be from this part of the country...

I always figured they posted more often than not since they're clearly not out there keeping the major attractions operating. PWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard the fog in AE was turned off because it affected the smoke alarms.
