  1. IO Productions took over the show the 2nd year, as Shman said and changed a few things in the show. Just minor lines and stuff to help it make a little more sense. Regardless, what a run!
  2. Rob Pottorf Music composed all of the music for Tomb Raider.
  3. A man was struck by lightning in the parking lot and lived to tell (and sue) about it citing that he was not giving forewarning about an approaching storm.... if you don't count rides shutting down, rain, people running for cover, and lightning everywhere. People have died at Kings Island, but it was almost never the fault of the park. 1983 - Tower Jonny - Idiot with a capital 'I' 1976 - Guy mauled by a lion. He was a trainer, but wasn't where he was supposed to be. 1980s - A man dove from the International Bandstand and died when he hit the bottom of the 2ft deep Royal Fountain. I think he was leaving a Devo concert at the Timberwolf. Black Sunday - Two men died in the lake near the Festhaus after being shocked by a malfunctioning circulating pump. Yep, the pump should have worked, but they also were in a restricted area. Less than 45mins later, woman falls from Flight Commander. Ultimately Intamin was sued, but realistically she fell because she was drunk. The moral of the story kids, is that if you play by the rules, no one gets hurt.
  4. I agree entirely. I think that one is poorly located... along with the one near the fountain on I-Street. However, I think the ones that are fair are the vast majority like near Feasthaus, Coney Mall (near Action Theater), Boomerang Bay, Rivertown, and Rivertown II. Realistically, they're out of the way and if smokers would stay in these areas, and non-smokers would avoid these areas (and yes, you can still walk down the midway and avoid these areas) then it would all work out fine.
  5. I think it's a mutual respect issue. If smokers stayed in the smoking areas, it would alleviate 50% of the problem and if non-smokers would respect the designated smoking areas, and avoid them if they are really offended by the smell then it would alleviate the other 50%. Unfortunately, smokers either don't know about the smoking areas or blatantly refuse to follow the rule, and non-smokers constantly want to make victim statements.
  6. I think you hit the nail right on the head, Tom. Remember when you were in grade school and the teacher would yell at you for talking in the halls? What did you do? You shut up and walked 20 more feet and got out of the teacher's earshot and started up the conversation again. It's going to be the same kind of deal with a smoking ban in the park because people inherently do whatever they want to do. So rather than having confined smoking areas where the vast majority of smoke is centralized, you'll have sporadic people in the middle of the midways trying to get away with it in groups with everyone else. And no, don't try to give me this excuse that they'll get a ticket or ejected from the premises because the law is too poorly written to guarantee anything like that.
  7. They'll probably update Boemker-style... when the weather is nice.
  8. Actually, no written account of the tower story I have ever read has ever actually mentioned the 50ft platform. The vibe I got was that he was in the starewell between the to and bottom observation towers (at the top). I think the 50ft tower was closed for two basic reasons: first is staffing. It's been a problem with the park for years. You just need more people to run the tower to have an extra level open. The second is that people were known to throw objects (mainly pour drinks) off the tower, which is dangerous/disgusting/illegal. You can thank those people for the no food or drink rule in place today.
  9. Don, you're blocking like 10 people's view with all that hair on your mellon.
  10. I can see this is too much of a surprise. Given the nature of an indoor water park, the chlorine can certainly agitate the lungs of they are sensitive in any way. I can assure you that GWL is a wonderful facility that is dedicated to cleanliness and safety. Ryan
  11. I heard a design like that was intended for the rumored Addams Family coaster.
  12. It's hard to say what's 'new' and what's not. A lot of things aren't set in stone and/or aren't public knowledge yet.
  13. Yes, the trains will be getting things such as new padding.
  14. Maureen told it like it is... Up until VERY recently, they had plans to retrack the entire ride for a regular gauge, but instead they want to modify the train to meet the track.

You guys can believe him or not, but certainly don't attack him... in all reality he could know. Mind posting the email?
  16. Ha... good story, but I'm going to call your bluff as well. Would make an interesting tribute to history, though...
  17. We're flattered and excited that you're sharing them with us!
  18. Just so you guys don't think you were shunned, this link was on the front page with the relaunch article.
  19. Not to mention that if you have any sound experience at all, you can put that on your resume'. It doesn't necessarily have to be official jobs. It can be hobbies and volunteer work as well. I'd say go in there and tell them exactly what you know and exactly what you've done. The worst thing they can do is not hire you, right? Go in and try out and make sure you let us know how everything went!
  20. Having a lake under The Beast's queue was a mistake from the beginning. People were constantly throwing trash and dumping drinks in there. Some people even chose to relieve themselves in the lake. It because a mosquito haven and was eventually drained.
  21. The Peters Cartidge Company is very important in the history of the Kings Mills area. It is located about a mile down the road from Kings High School. Click the link below to see photos and read more of its very interesting history. PLEASE do not try to enter the factory. Not only is it apparently haunted, but it's certainly dangerous, not to mention that there's a pretty good chance that you'll end up in jail. Peter's Cartridge Factory at ForgottenOH.com
  22. Not exactly unusual anymore. They've been lighting it up since CF took over. I'm guessing (and this is pure speculation) that it will come to the point where the tower changes colors, not unlike MF since they do have that lighting package on it.
  23. There is only one small section of one piece of track painted. I think they did that so they could see what it looked like before committing to anything.
  24. Also if you see any ads that are annoying, offensive, or make noise please make a note of the sponsor of the ad and let Dane (in a PM) know. We can eliminate ads that are like that.
  25. I think I've heard of that guy! Didn't he build a similar attraction in Kennywood?
