  1. They really should have tossed a few more million in it and made it 215 feet tall. I mean if you are going to build a coaster BUILD A FREAKING COASTER!!! Be the tallest in the land for a few years, just to **** off Kings Island. :-) -adam12 Considering that SOB is 218ft, I'm sure PKI would have no problem with 215ft.
  2. Did anyone else see Fox19's segment on the "Voyager" at "Holiday Park" on the 4:30am news? Nothing really to report except for the name misstatements above. lol
  3. I don't think that they're necessarily "burnt out" already, but I think Mikewhy hit the nail on the head with the word "overworked". It happens at my work all the time. It's of course no excuse to be rude or impolite, but it seems as though some places are genuinely understaffed which makes for a really stressful situation. Hopefully it's straighten out more as the season progresses.
  4. I don't know how much I would trust your sources, but I am willing to say that they guessed correctly.
  5. who the heck is Ruth Voss ? I COULD have the wrong person here, but I think she's the lady who originated The Beast walk back. She used to ride The Beast every morning to loosen her joints up for her arthritus, and would eventually invite some guest friends to ride with her, thus becoming the walkback.... or I could have the wrong person entirely.
  6. A bunch of us are heading down to Holiday World and Beech Bend for Holiwood Nights and Rumblefest over Memorial Day weekend. I was just wondering if anyone else had plans on attending these events. To find more information, please check the respective pages, including HW's site, Beech Bend's site, and check out both flyers on ACE's web site.
  7. Let's just hope that the moral of the story is that if you put real heart, hands and mind into a park, you can turn it around overnight. ...Either that or it'll be a financial disaster to staff all of those people. Let's hope for the first.
  8. Wherever you get a season pass it's usually the same price, but that rule doesn't hole true for daily admission tickets. I would however advise purchasing online in order to speed up the process once you get to the park. Hope this helps, Ryan
  9. "Who Tragedy" was that they were warming up inside the Coloseum. It was festival seating, which means you pick your own seat and someone opened one door with many people waiting to get into the arena. The ironic part is, they opened one door because they thought that would be the most "organized" way to do it.
  10. I was really disappointed when I found out that drinks weren't included in the Happy Days meals anymore. I think the food there is really good, and well worth $9-$10, but not $13.
  11. I gave 'em a piece of my mind!
  12. ^ I agree. I mean hell, PKI already pays for the Kings school district.
  13. So where would you get the $500 million to do these improvements?
  14. Oh no, you have Jerry Cough all wrong. He'd operate the park into a depression over the course of two months and then let it sit vacant, waiting to die. He, of course, would make a killing selling his RVs out of his "newly expanded Mason location".
  15. I agree with Monkey Joe. It sure as heck looks like they intend to use this map through Fearfest.
  16. I've always wanted to bring in an MP3 player to add a "soundtrack" to the rides, but from what I understand, that's not allowed.
  17. Too bad the land on Kings Island Dr. is probably worth $500,000/acre.
  18. I agree entirely. With a transition in place, this could be the worst year we've seen in a long time at PKI, but I have my serious doubts about that. I really think that the crew has their heads above water. Regardless, having good and bad years is all part of progress. PKI doesn't need to be returned to its former glory, it still is in glory. You need to appreciate that you have a park that shells out anything it can for its guests. Granted, prices rise, things break down, etc., but that's all part of this business.
  19. I haven't heard of any fights either, but I assure you that you are very safe in PKI. They can handle all sorts of situations.
  20. It's funny to hear you guys attack Paramount so much. Trust me, under Linder, Kings Island was going nowhere... but bankrupt.
  21. Very cool.
  22. I've heard rumors that Paramount has no plans for 2007 and they're counting on whoever the new owner is to buy something "off the shelf" although at one point when Maureen was taking the PKIC crew around to shoot photos she mentioned that they were going to do various improvements throughout the park in 07. Does this mean we'll get new paint and no new ride? No, not at all. But it does clearly mean that Paramount is doing business as usual.
  23. Of course, PKIC covered the event. Photos can be seen here.
  24. No, you're thinking of the Murph Mobile, which I believe is auctioned off now. The car is from the Godfather (I think) was near the I-Street entrance, somewhat.
  25. For some reason it's been sitting behind The Beastie in the admin area near the HVAC building for quite a while now.
