  1. Yeah, PKIG went under after the webmaster got married and had a kid from what I understand. It went away long before PKIC started.
  2. I thought Acers of the Lost Park was going to be a really demented porn film. ...oh, and the gravy isn't a dish, it's for dipping the pizza into.
  3. I remember the first PKI forums I joined, which was PKIG and they weren't really that active since the advent of PKIU shut them out. I wasn't sure how forums worked and assumed that everything on their pages were atleast somewhat current. They were discussing what was new for 2003, and were trying to guess which ride it was. Of course, me not knowing that the topic was 6 months old kept on thinking, "It's a freakin' Huss Giant Frisbee you idiots!". Fortunately, I didn't post that.

  5. Pizza and pop! Didn't you read the first post????
  6. ^ I think you're hitting the nail right on the head. All they really stated was that they had people "interested" in purchasing the parks. Legally, they could have asked Mike, the intern if he were interested and they could have said that. I really think it was a stock booster. Now, they could have something going on that we don't know about, but it would be one of those deals where both companies would be quick to announce it once they are anywhere near an agreement.
  7. A lot of people had to have liked it... they wouldn't keep it around so long if that weren't the case.
  8. It says (and I quote), "Everyone is invited. Southern Ohio region members are espeically encouraged to attend and get involved in CoasterCon planning." Hopefully everyone means everyone.
  9. From what I have been told, it makes life easier for both parties if you apply online before you go in to HR (or Casting or whatever they call it now). Click here to go to PKI.com job application page.
  10. What about people like Mario Lemieux or Dan Marino? Oh, and isn't Marvin Lewis from the Pittsburgh area? Duped again, just like the 'Who Dey' chant. SOURCE LoL yeah... that's true... but then again, Kennywood isn't even in Pittsburgh. It's in the small city of West Miffin, PA. All in good fun.
  11. Ha... I don't even say pop... it's all Coke to me. I was just paraphrasing what CoastersRZ wrote to me.
  12. The much anticipated Nickelodeon Universe construction tour will be held on February 25th from 5pm to 6pm. Be warned -- you will get muddy on this tour, so dress accordingly!! Also, for all you ACErs out there, following this event will be ACE's Winter Soar immediatly after the event. This event will be held in the International Restaurant. This event will feature pop and pizza and will certainly lead to some interesting discussion. The event costs $8 at the door. I'm sure there will be more info to come! ************Don't Forget So bring cash! Click here to see ACE's advertisement of the event. If you plan on attending, please click here and add your name to the roster. **New information: The SOUTH TOLLS will be open at 4:45pm on Saturday for the event. Park around the handicap lot. We will meet at admissions and the tour will begin promptly at 5:00. Remember your $8 for the pizza and DO NOT TRY TO ENTER the park before either the tolls open or Maureen instructs you to! She promises to give a full and thorogh tour with her infamous bullhorn in hand! Regards, Ryan PKICentral.com - Believing that the only good to ever come out of Pittsburgh was Kennywood.
  13. Unfortunately, it seems like PKI always tries to but there's always the layers and layers of red tape. They need to pick up Disney/Universal/Busch's attitude of, "Let's just get it done and get it done right."
  14. I disagree with the KECO thing... although they did great shows, I think that last year we were blessed with one of the best years in entertainment ever. The parade for the past 2 years has been better than I had ever expected, and SoR is tied with Toy Factory IMHO as the best "sit down" show I've ever seen at a park.
  15. I'm not sure how call-ins would work, but that would be on the technical side which I don't want a part of. lol
  16. YES! We already have backing from several people from the park. We are looking for good "techies" to help us get this set up as well as possible, as well as people to throw around content ideas.
  17. Yeah, to answer your question PKIC WILL IN FACT be doing regular PKI podcasts, including exclusive interviews, great insider information, and a whole lot of special PKI-related commentary. Just a TASTE of what's to come for the greatest and most popular PKI site for 2006!
  18. I was under that beleif too for the longest time, but after talking to some people I think they just cut the bolts to remove the track, which is a standard procedure. I think it COULD be rebuilt, but any park willing to buy it wouldn't be able to afford the necessary rehab. I think Ghoster Coaster could be rebuilt. In fact, I'd say it's a strong candidate for being rebuilt at a smaller park. I think it was all on pretty flat ground, so it's not like it's a terrain coaster or anything. Anyone got Ralf Stricker's number?
  19. So let's establish someting, is the whole building gone or just the Chic-Fil-A stuff?
  20. I think Shaggy's right, Joe. As stated in another thread, an investment group is going to come in, raise the value, and sell again. They're going to do this as cheaply as possible, so as opposed to adding new and better attractions, they're going to find more 'efficent' ways of doing things. ie cutting programs. I hope I'm wrong.
  21. Are you sure it was I Street and not Coney Mall? I remember the Associate Training in March and Coney Mall North (or South, IDK, it was by Dodegms down to Vortex) was covered in dirt and grime. Amazing how quickly they cleaned up the area by the time Sneak Preview Day rolled around. Now about the other three rides... ...are the Dora and Blue rides also Zamperla rides? And what about the "underwater SpongeBob world?" I had heard that the Crash Course Boating School concept had been canned in place of a BIGGER, BETTER attraction. A sort-of dark ride/coaster combo for Nick Universe. But I think it's just a rumor. So I'm lost on the whole thing. I was talking about the mud that was packed tightly in the crescent around the clock mainly, but I'm sure Coney was a mess too. All 3 rides listed on PKIC's main page are the new rides being added to NU. Any other "new" attraction is probably a retheme. Regardless, all 3 of them are in fact Zamperla.
  22. Yeah, it always seems like they're not going to finish, but they always do... it's like magic! lol Don't forget about how much of a mess I-Street was during the 2nd IJ tour, and it was all cleaned up perfectly by opening day.
  23. Well, less permission and more support. You just can't sit there and talk about the park.. that's what the forums are for. You have to have interest expressed by several people whose insights would be of interest to the PKIC.... err... some community.
  24. No, we wouldn't but I think AZ is good how it is. How many backlots have trees and shaded areas? ....Well, how many Paramount Parks have backlots? LoL... the parks don't have backlots, but movie studios do. In fact, Paramount Pictures has a backlot which they offer tours of. I think that was kind of the look they were going for. Regardless, being so open makes it feel a little more 'alive' than a quiet area with lots of trees.
