  1. He did not misquote the article, but in using quotation marks in the post gives the appearance that Rick Schmizze made the quote vs. what the writer actually wrote.
  2. But don't misquote the actual quote which is as misleading as the writer's mistake.
  3. ^ And that is from the writer, which does not use quotation marks.... So: Yes... really
  4. Misleading because you used "Cedar Fair" as opposed to "owners" for the actual quote.
  5. Pardon me, if someone wants to correct this, but I do not believe there was a "band-aid" fix. From reading the state report it seemed that Paramount Parks' policies for maintaining the ride were appropriate and ok'd by the state of Ohio. As pointed out by our good friend The Interpreter - Cedar Fair assumed all liabilities and made the decision to operate the ride on that fateful morning. What occurred was a cracked vertical timber. According to the ride's design this should have been fine and it should have been able to operate with enough support to continue running until the problem could be noticed. Unfortunately, the design didn't come through and a slight deviation in the track caused a bump between two track segments. When the trains ran over that bump, it created the jolt that injured the riders. This was all available in the state report, which can still be found online and which is public record. I believe the state faulted the design of the ride and made recommendations to improve it. They did not fault "Paramount's band aid fix." Actually "they" did: http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton-news/last-son-of-beast-accident-case-going-to-trial-1109729.html
  6. Even if the dinosaur attraction does not bring in more people than normal (althought I too doubt that is true), it WILL bring in more money Some of the people who will come to the park regardless will, undoubtedly, pay to do the walkthrough And I am one of those people Will it bring in more people? Perhaps. Will it bring in more money? Probably. Does it give the guests of KI another entertainment option? Absolutely. I have DirecTV. I have the expanded package, and pay extra for it. I also have HBO/ CineMax & NFL Sunday Ticket and pay extra for those as well. I do not see a difference between the options DTV gives me for more money vs. the options KI gives me for more money.
  7. If anything, we (or some of us) are guilty of overhyping it. KI Marketing did excatly what they are paid to do- create intrest.
  8. I don't see what his complaint would be... It's not an upcharge for a ride, which is all he seems to care about. Unless he just wants to complain about anything and everything, including the attractions he does not care to visit.
  9. Nickels, maybe.... This is a large investment for the park, and other attractions that are large like this do cost extra $$, so I really don't think $5 is that bad. They could charge for ERT (or Fastpass) like other parks, so $5.... I'm willing to spend it to see what it is like. We all maybe surprised on what $5 gets us. And if the area is shaded, quiet etc. $5 maybe cheap for some just to "get away" from the hustle of the park.
  10. It will be intresting to see how this goes over....
  11. Has a coaster actually done this, or are you just speculating?
  12. ^^ That makes a ton of sense, especially if Tron is still involved. EDIT: http://ocresort.ocre...le-mover/56864/
  13. When a request for bid work is released, typically the low bid is not accepted due: type of work the bidder has done, type of material the bidder is planning on using, amount of time the bidder will be using, how experienced the bidder's staff is etc. etc. Very low bids are a bigger concern than very high bids. I would be surprised if the original builder of SoB was not the lowest bidder (or even the only bidder).
  14. Another temper-tantrum because the "holier than thou" enthusiast didn't get another thrill ride. RaptorGuy- Please do not visit KI this, or any other, year. The park cannot meet your adolescent demands. The small handful of enthusiasts, like you, only give fun parks a bad reputation because of your demandeing crap. The "coulda, shoulda, woulda" verbage you spout from the cheap seats only reinforces the fact that some enthusiasts, like you, will never understand that amusement parks are not there just for you, but for everyone, especially families. Kids love dinosaurs. KI is filled with kids. Why is that such a hard concept for you to understand? Please go to your perfect place, in your own little perfect world, and let the real enthusiasts enjoy KI. Thanks!
  15. Build up to a HUGE let down -and- incredibly dumb marketing approach Yeah, that makes sense....
  16. Well, the Friday 2:00pm announcement was released through the media....
  17. That would be good marketing money being thrown down the toilet!
  18. ^^ According to rcdb.com, there are 798 coasters: operating, SBNO, under construction, or in storage in North America. http://www.rcdb.com/r.htm?order=12&ot=2&nm=na&pl=1&ex=1&page=1 Granted it may not be for a coaster, I just can't think of anything else in the industry that will have a $9,000,000 price tag for what the press release describes.
  19. Would KI be better overall using $9,000,000 for SoB? I'm not too sure about that. Only because, SoB's reputation will always be there. Just like TTD's downtime reputation (which is no longer an issue) or Bat's reputation of injuring people (which never happened). Now, if SoB is to be redesigned & re-engineered: it will most likely be re-named.If that happens, then CF made a great $9,000,000 move (compared to TG's $10,000,000) since it literally will be a new coaster.
  20. Or figuring out what all the dinosaur stuff is about is as easy as: 1....2...3 But I do agree with this: WS verticle construction is supposed to start tomorrow. Announcing the probable dino walk through with big cranes moving the new 2011 ride in the background creates good video.
