Back in 1979 my parents bought me a pin that say "I RODE IT!" with The Beast logo on it. The fun part about that is I was only 5 years old at the time.

The TV's would be nice if the media department would do frequent updates, and not show the same thing on a 1/2 hour loop season after season. At CP, Mantis has a double sided giant TV screen, and the first season it was nice. But year after year of Love Shack gets rather annoying. If the parks are going to spend money on such things, they really need to be updated.

Disney's Beast Cast Member Arrested

So is this an example of a thread that went off topic? -
That is a ugly looking ride.

They could build the parking garage next to Disaster Transport to make the garage look better. My understanding is that CP has all kinds of land along route 2. Rumor has it, once CP needs to expand into the current parking lot (which will probably be once none of us can ever ride a coaster again), they will convert the RT. 2 land into a parking lot and use the same type of monorail system that Disney has. And as far as hoping that KI will become the new "flagship" for CF- why does KI HAVE to be the flagship park? CF did not buy the park just to let it get run down. They made a rather heavy investment and even though KI and CP are both owned by the same company, both parks will compete for business.

Didn't Paramount already start to detheme TR by completely ignoring the ride from the themeing standpoint? The ride is a decent flat ride. It is the themeing that makes it unique, and Paramount really let it go. CF does not have a good track record when it comes to keeping up with themeing as well. Perhaps they understand that a ride like TR needs some TLC when it comes down to keeping themeing up.

Nope, the Lemon Chill guy has all the inside information. We need to smash that rumor right now.

Well if money is the issue, CF could get corporate sponsorship for SoB. "Welcome back riders! Carefully remove your safety restraints and exit the car. Thank-you for riding Son of Beast sponsored by Aleve. Try and enjoy the rest of your day at Kings Island. Please pick-up a free sample of Aleve at the end of the exit ramp."

You are exactly right. Those three parks had the coaster community buzzing about their respective new rides back in the fall. But what is everyone talking about now? The "new" coaster at KI. If you go to CoasterBuzz which is one of the leading websites that is not directly associated with a "home" park, there has not been much talk about Maverick, Griffon, or the Mine Ride at DollyWood as of late. But KI's newest addition has been a constant topic for the past couple of weeks.

I really don't see anything wrong with that sign. It is just something that we are not used to. By July, we won't even notice that the sign has been modified.
-
So does anyone know what the Lemon Chill guy does in the off season?
-
Why do they have to tell us in the fall? This is free advertising for the park. Even though PKICentral probably only makes up less than 5% of the people that actually go to the park, those that browse and are not members through can still gain information on what is going on in the park. It is really a great marketing stratagy. It is people like us that really kick up the rocks just to see what is under them. For instance, CP started on construction for Maverick in the fall of 2005 (with the tear down of White Water Landing), yet did not announce the ride until late summer/ fall of '06. During that timeframe CP gained a huge amount of attention just by saying--- nothing. And people like us caused so much commotion because the ride was not announced that when Maverick was finally announced it made huge headlines- about a ride that did not break any significant records. A company cannot buy that kind of advertising. If any park announces a ride too early- it is possible for another park to "steal their thunder" by announcing "their" new ride later in the off-season. For the common guest, they could just forget about the first announced ride and plan their summer family vacation around the latest announced ride. For most people this time of year they don't even think about an amusement park. With this announcement- they will now.

I was just browsing some really old topics and found this one rather funny. There are many old posts that try and predict the future past 2002 that will make you just smile since most never came true.

I guess there should be no mistake made about where home is.... Perhaps CF was just going by plain numbers: http://jfs.ohio.gov/releases/unemp/200701/...ressRelease.asp Considering that Sandusky's unemployment rate has averaged 6.03 and Hamilton/ Cincinnati area has averaged 5.1 and 5.7 respectively could have also been looked at. Or just considering the winter temperatures: Sandusky winter Hi/ Low: 33.9/ 17.1 Cincinnati winter Hi/ Low: 44.5/ 25.0

Once the sale of the parks was complete, items such as these jackets were now the property of CF, just like soda cups, napkins, ketchup packets etc. Cedar Point received the *credit* of giving the coats to the less fortunate because it was their decision. I'm just glad that CF decided to do something worthwhile with the coats.

The ride has not even been officially announced yet being built at KI, even though all fingers are pointing in that direction. Let's not put the cart before the horse. Also, it's not like this is a brand new ride. If it is being built at KI, it will have the same footprint, station etc. as the ride was at Geauga. The only difference being the queue line and probably the name of the ride. If a construction tour were to take place in 2007, I would rather like to see the area of SoB w/o the loop. That may never happen either due to all the issues within the past year.
-
In SoB's case, you would think that the loop would make it famous. Yet in the end, it was the uncomfortable ride that made it famous. The loop was the one thing that most never complained about. Now that it is gone, people will be even more critical of the kind of ride SoB gives. With any luck, the train improvments will make it a better ride- much like the train improvments on FoF. I'm just not going to hold my breath...

Although I agree in concept with your point, so far Son of Beast has operated at least parts of SEVEN seasons: Yeah, 7 years. What would be a good excuse for that one? a) I probably shouldn't post at 5 in the morning. -or- 2) Next time take my shoes off.
-
6 total years, with probably only 4 years that the ride was actually running makes a tradition? Man am I getting old. I would also be surprised if CF would not have the 4th of July celebration at KI. The activities that happen at CP are on the 4th really bring in the crowds. IMO it would be just a bad business decision to not have the same type of activities at KI.

I would have to believe that the removal of KK was not for Delirium to be placed there, but because of numerous issues that the coaster had. Low ridership + high maintenance + high maintenance costs + nice piece of land= removal of ride. Cedar Point made the same decision with the removal of White Water Landing in 2005 for the opening of Maverick in 2007. I would rather see Delirium where it is at than a rusted SBNO KK.

What examples of penny-pinching are you referring to?
-
The addition of FoF is probably the best addition. I cannot say Fear Fest is the best addition, only because that was the "new" thing for almost all major parks, it was not exclusive to PP.
-
Well almost... It is impossible to find a Coors Light in the park! BG does have one policy that I love, you can have a beer while waiting in line.
