It depends what you consider "close". Is it the point where two seperate coaster tracks are the closest, or is it the shortest distance between where the entrance of the two coasters are?

Dollywoods prices are crazy
Browntggrr replied to raptor's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
What kind of prices were you expecting? I don't mind paying $14 more to go to a park that I usually don't go to. I can then decide if it was worth it to travel back and pay the extra bucks. I did this a few years ago with KD (when Volcano first opened) and hated the park, but the next day we went to BGE and the park made the trip worthwhile. And BGE was about $10- $15 more for general admission ( I had my season pass, so KD was free). Even the food was more expensive at BGE, but the thing is, the food was fantastic. I would try DollyWood out, you maybe surprised. -
At the entrance to the ride, KI would probably station an employee that has just the bare minimum of information, like replying that the ride is being tested. I was more referring to guests noticing elsewhere in the park (i.e. On top of Eiffel Tower, top of Drop Zone, Racers etc.) that the ride was operating, then high tailing it to the ride, just to find out that it is not operating. I will also bet that most of the employees of the park will agree that guests pay no attention to park signs at all.

I'm sure that all the wheels have been changed since the ride last operated in 2006. Given that, the state requires each train to do 'x' amount of cycles (if anyone knows, please let us know) for safety reasons, and probably with water dummies simulating the weight of a full train of guests. These cycles for each train would be numerous, so chances are, the trains will have been broken in to the track. I would not worry about the ride being broken in. What maybe frustrating though, if KI runs the cycles during normal hours that guests are in the park. Most guests may not understand why the ride is operating, but w/o any guests.

Members of ACE wanted for TV show 'Wife Swap'
Browntggrr replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I will admit that while channel surfing, I have watched some of the show. Like most (if not all) reality shows, it thrives on confrontations, and the family that swaps the moms are complete polar opposites of each other. I.E.: Very religious family's mother is swapped with family where 20 year old daughter has soft porn on a web site. I personally like watching some of these shows, it makes my life seem normal. -
Yes the plans were already set in motion for a suspended coaster, but the coaster was to be Thunder Road, not Top Gun. Even though some may not agree, TG is a terrific starter "gimmick" coaster for younger kids, so it does have it's place in the park. Steveo3631 said: As much as we bash Paramount, remember that Paramount rejoined all the Taft built and owned theme parks. Before that they were owned by at least three different companies. I guess I don't see why this is a important thing.

Will Kings Island bring back a Campground?
Browntggrr replied to AdventureExpresser's topic in Kings Island
Did you buy the RV just for KI? Or do you use it for other vacations? -
ASCAP and BMI are just plain rip off artists. When I had my establishment, they wanted to charge me for the total square footage of the building (firecode was 310). Neither ASCAP or BMI requires a DJ to have a license, because they are considered "mobile", so each organization charges the establishment. But the kicker is, the music was already paid for by the DJ or the service that provides the jukebox, so the artist was paid per his/ her agreement with the record label. And on top of that, just like I told both BMI & ASCAP, when the customers hear the artists in my establishment, it's just like free advertising. If people like the music, chances are they will go out and buy it. Then both ASCAP and BMI wanted to charge me per TV (I had 24 TVs) that I had because "Our artists have music played during commercials." I was rather upset when they told me this as well, only because it was their artist that made money from the company they are advertising for, and I also have to pay for the cable/ satellite service rights that I am broadcasting. It is really just a classic case of double dipping.

FC was a unique flat ride, but really not too thrilling. It did have one horrible night due to a combination of too much alcohol and questionable restraints (more towards the alcohol end). It was probably also a maintenance nightmare.
-
Why would ANYONE even think of sneaking a drink on the ride? That is really just plain ignorant. It is unsafe not only to the person holding onto the drink, but to the people behind him. Imagine getting whacked in the eye with a flying ice cube or a plastic bottle. It has the potential to cause serious injury.

From what I have heard, Disney Quest is on it's way out. It has not been the big draw as it was to planned to be, mostly because technology is constantly changing in the video game industry. When Disney introduced Disney Quest, it was the best thing out there, but the return on investment was not as fast as they would have liked and they would have to keep pouring big time money for new attractions to keep the guests intrested. It is really too bad though, I loved Disney Quest and spent almost 8 hours there. But would I spend the same amount of time everytime I went to one without major upgrades? If the weather was terrible, yes, but on a nice day, probably not. http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/arc...04/24/2051.aspx

Paramount Parks web sites have changed

Back in 1979 my parents bought me a pin that say "I RODE IT!" with The Beast logo on it. The fun part about that is I was only 5 years old at the time.

The TV's would be nice if the media department would do frequent updates, and not show the same thing on a 1/2 hour loop season after season. At CP, Mantis has a double sided giant TV screen, and the first season it was nice. But year after year of Love Shack gets rather annoying. If the parks are going to spend money on such things, they really need to be updated.

Disney's Beast Cast Member Arrested
Browntggrr replied to Avatar's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So is this an example of a thread that went off topic? -
That is a ugly looking ride.

They could build the parking garage next to Disaster Transport to make the garage look better. My understanding is that CP has all kinds of land along route 2. Rumor has it, once CP needs to expand into the current parking lot (which will probably be once none of us can ever ride a coaster again), they will convert the RT. 2 land into a parking lot and use the same type of monorail system that Disney has. And as far as hoping that KI will become the new "flagship" for CF- why does KI HAVE to be the flagship park? CF did not buy the park just to let it get run down. They made a rather heavy investment and even though KI and CP are both owned by the same company, both parks will compete for business.
-
Didn't Paramount already start to detheme TR by completely ignoring the ride from the themeing standpoint? The ride is a decent flat ride. It is the themeing that makes it unique, and Paramount really let it go. CF does not have a good track record when it comes to keeping up with themeing as well. Perhaps they understand that a ride like TR needs some TLC when it comes down to keeping themeing up.

Nope, the Lemon Chill guy has all the inside information. We need to smash that rumor right now.

Well if money is the issue, CF could get corporate sponsorship for SoB. "Welcome back riders! Carefully remove your safety restraints and exit the car. Thank-you for riding Son of Beast sponsored by Aleve. Try and enjoy the rest of your day at Kings Island. Please pick-up a free sample of Aleve at the end of the exit ramp."

You are exactly right. Those three parks had the coaster community buzzing about their respective new rides back in the fall. But what is everyone talking about now? The "new" coaster at KI. If you go to CoasterBuzz which is one of the leading websites that is not directly associated with a "home" park, there has not been much talk about Maverick, Griffon, or the Mine Ride at DollyWood as of late. But KI's newest addition has been a constant topic for the past couple of weeks.

I really don't see anything wrong with that sign. It is just something that we are not used to. By July, we won't even notice that the sign has been modified.

So does anyone know what the Lemon Chill guy does in the off season?
