I would be surprised if they did not open the season pass center early. CP opens theirs at least 1 week early if not 2 weeks before the park opens. On the other hand, CP's season pass center is the definition of pure chaos the first couple week of the season due to the inadequate building that the center is in and the lack of processing equipment. Perhaps that is the reason that CP opens the pass center early. And as far as KI or CP removing major thrill rides... A majority of us can only speculate why any park needs to remove a ride. CF is removing X-Flight from GL possibly due to low attendence. And with low attendence, why keep a major thrill ride a park that cannot support it? In other words, if a ride costs $15 million, but the return on investment is poor, move it to a larger, more popular park where it will see much more action, and chances are, people will flock to the park to get on the "new" ride. Busch Gardens Europe has some great thrill rides, but not numerous thrill rides. But IMO, it is one of the best parks in the country, not due to the thrill rides, but due to the atmosphere that the park generates. It is a beautiful park that is very clean and well themed. I go there for the rides, but for the most part, I go there for the atmoshere. KennyWood and Hershey are also examples of parks just like this. They are truely great parks.

But you also have to consider the state the park was in at the time of aquisition. There is a night & day difference between how Geauga was pre- Cedar Fair, and how KI was last year. There is always room for improvement at any park, but the condition that SF sold Geauga to CF was terrible. Not just the park, but the public's opinion of the park as well. Chances are, 50% of the people that live in a hundred mile radius of Geauga don't even know that SF sold it to CF. Comparing the state of the park(s) between Geauga & KI at the time of the aquisition is like comparing apples and oranges.

*shake, shake, shake* *shake, shake, shake* Magic 8 ball says:"You'll have to wait and see" Some of us will be excited for the changes from Paramount to Cedar Fair since we can remember how it was pre- Paramount. While others will dislike changes because they cannot seem to accept that Cedar Fair has bought the park. I believe that we will see some significant changes in 2007, but it will take until 2008 or even 2009 for everything to be changed to Cedar Fair's standards. Cedar Fair bought KI with a vision in mind of how they want the park. It is not going to happen overnight, and could change direction month to month. Give it a couple years to really see how things are going to be.

Son Of Beast: Out of the Loop!

"If you build it, they will come." What else could be used here from "Field of Dreams?" Oh ya... "Ease their pain" with new trains. -
I can't stop laughing LOL You are laughing at someone else's post? HEY POT, THE KETTLE IS CALLING!

You were questioning if you were human before we all told you that your spelling is bad? Boy, do you have issues...

Why do you insist on trying to make everyone believe you? You are making yourself out to be just another troll. Another thing, spend more time on this site... http://www.primarygames.com/see-n-spell/see-n-spell.htm

I understand why they did it- crowd control & safety issues. But if a laid down the kind of money that it costs to go to Disney (car/ plane), stay at Disney, and how much it is to get a park pass, I would be really pi$$ed. Why is it my fault that they oversold a particular day? Especially for those that did not get a park hopper pass. MK is the only place that they could go on that particular day, especially if they were already in the park and could not get back in. I am just wondering how many people tried to get their money back since they could not stay the whole day at the park.

McWendy's? McFrosty? McChili? That would be intresting. "Thank-you for calling Paramount's Kings Island owned by Cedar Fair, please press one if you are confused."
-
First, I am not holding CF responsible for the SoB accident. Nor am I holding Paramount responsible. If either company knew about what could happen, I am confident that they would have shut the ride down. Second, even though Paramount did try and make modifications to SoB, I find it difficult to believe that the decision to remove the loop & the actual removal took less than 6 months. It seems to me that Paramount did have the idea for the removal, but never made the decision to actally get it done for whatever reason that they deemed necessary.
-
This is probably going to make some of the Paramount fanboys upset, so please don't take any of this personally. KI under Paramount was considered the crown jewel of all the Paramount Parks. Now that KI is owned & operated by CF everyone is concerned that KI will be the little brother that is picked last for the schoolyard football game. I don't see this happening. I don't see how Paramount treated KI well. Many here have complained that Paramount has been dropping the ball at KI for things like: customer service, cleanliness, pricing etc. before the announced purchase by CF. I believe that CF will give KI the attention that it deserves as one of the best parks in the world. CP will still get all the bells and whistles, but it also deserves to be treated as the best, because they have been the best for many years now in many catagories. CF did not spend all that money just to just let KI lay by the wayside. Just look at what they have put into GL. Even though it has not paid off at the gate, you cannot say that CF is neglecting the park in any way. Just as an example- Why didn't Paramount do more for SoB? Yes they did many things, but this is by far the biggest change since SoB opened. It is hard to believe that in less than 6 months after a rather serious accident, a decision was made to remove the loop by CF, but Parmount never considered the change themselves in the pervious 6 years. 6 months extermely fast for such a large decision, so I believe that Paramount knew about the modifications to try and make SoB a better ride, but never pulled the trigger. But I am just speculating.
-
So if the park keeps what it earns, how is CF a publicly traded company? Not to mention, if what you are saying were to be correct, how in the world is GL even still around? They would have zero capital to work with. We all know that GL is struggling, and they need the help of CF to try and become profitable again.
-
There is a very good chance that SoB could be modified with insurance money, if KI has that type of policy. Most of the expensive equipment at the facility where I work has insurance for such things as: fire damage, severe equipment damage that causes extended downtime, and safety modifications which would also create extended downtime.
-
So are you saying that Vortex, The Beast, and The Racers would cost $10 million each in today's world with today's money? It also could cost a good chunk of change to take X-Flight down, transport the pieces to KI, and re-assemble it. And then add all the leg work of clearing of land, electrical hook-ups, new cement etc. $5- $7 million for all that- it really would not surprise me. Transportation for this type of project is a large expense. Heck for ten bucks I can get you a decent spell checker, or for $40 a Leap Frog.

I understand the whole lighter trains angle, but was this the only way? To take out the one aspect of the ride that was not complained about? I know that my voice is a popcorn fart in the real world, but this is disappointing. SoB has just become Son of Mean Streak. -
If you are going to do that, drive another 80 miles and go to PKD & BGE. PKD has the Eagles, and is a OK park, BGE is a terrific park and well worth the drive by itself.

That is rather intresting. The judgement was not for sub-standard materials, but because of RCC's failure to hire a lawyer. "Today, Roller Coaster Company of Ohio, LLC, received notice that the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Western Division, directed that a default judgment in favor of Paramount Parks, Inc. be entered against the Company for failure to hire another lawyer and to continue to pursue the case against Paramount Parks, Inc., owner-operator of the Kings Island Theme Park, near Cincinnati." This still leaves the door wide open as to why & who is responsible of SoB's issues. Was it PKI making cost cutting decisions, or was it RCC not being able to handle the project.
-
When did the case end? I have not seen any information that reflects this.
-
Ya'll wack then, whatever... I don't think anyone likes me here on PKIC.. I mean really, all people do is critisize my posts. So I'm leaving, hope your happy -Good-bye It seems that your issue is that you cannot handle the fact most here don't agree with you. You can call it criticism if you like, but it is really just a common case of not agreeing with you. ... and by some of your posts, you probably have this issue quite frequently. *stepping off Dr. Phil's soapbox*

Is this about SoB or TG? Seriously though. Do have actual capacity numbers for Top Gun as well as it's yearly budget? To make a statement like that, I would hope that you have something to back it up with.
