I am wondering, how did Paramount make the public feel like it was "their"park? And what decisions has CF made that make the park seem unfriendly?
-
What CF did in cancelling is no different than what Paramount did back in 1992. And what did you do when Winterfest was non-existant for 13 years?
-
The themeing would be great, if it actually worked.
-
If memory serves, didn't the building that now has the vending machines in The Beast line actually be a regular concession stand with food as well as drinks?
-
^ ^ ^ How many pot holes did you hit? How mant street lights did you pass? How many construction zones were there? Come on man, your posts need to be more detailed!
-
If a person has to go, they have to go. And if they were already in line, do their "thing" and come back, there really is no harm in that, especially if they talk with some of the people around them. It is the other people that just blatently disrespect everyone and bypass them all that $%^& me off. That is the one nice thing about CF; for the more popular rides, there are more attendants staffing the rides and usually security personnel at night. Not that this solves the line jumping issue, but it does help curtail it.
-
The same as eating a live roach? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you have got to be kidding!
-
Or you can go to other measures to line jump- legally for that matter! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060921/ap_on_...ach_promotion_1 Anyone hungry?

Season Passes at P/Cedar Fair Parks

Find out which U.S. Post Office in your area handles the Passports. You will need a 1" x 1" picture, photo ID, and a birth certificate. Be sure that it is a birth certificate and not a certificate of birth- I can't remember the difference between the two, but there is a significant difference and you can't get a passport w/o the proper one. http://www.passportexpress.com/default.asp...t&action=firstc If you are going to get one, be sure to plan WAY ahead. -
CF may not want it to be huge news if SoB is to be operating in '07. With all the deserved & undeserved bad press the ride has received over the past 6 years, quietly opening it would be the best GR direction to go. There is already a general negative feeling about the ride, and if one more thing would go wrong, even a minor incident, could seal the ride's fate. The quiet approach, for now is the best way to go. After the ride starts back up w/o incident, then broadcast the good news.

How can you have an opinion about a coaster that you have never been on, at a park you have not been to in years? And what records did Voyage break. It has claimed zero #1 world records (I'm sorry, claiming to have the most "airtime" is not a world record). But a ride does not have to break records to be a great ride. Both Thunderhead & Voyage have proven that. -

Actually, it hasn't. The attenance looks to be below the 700,000 mark achieved in '04 & '05. http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=1009 I would be surprised to see CF throw in the towel this quick. When they took over, it was generally understood what they were getting into just because of how poorly SF ran the park. There was no quick fix. Probably more than half the people that live within 70 miles of GL still don't even know that it has been under new ownership for the last couple years now. It is going to take time for people go back to GL, especially with CP some 50 miles West competing against them. -

I completely agree. Both parks have great customer relations, beautiful scenery, great rides (even if it is a small amount), fantastic food (although a bit pricy- but IMO still worth the cost) and numeros other pluses. Some people need to understand that with most parks the revenue from admission goes to other things besides rides. -
Anyone can debate the similarities/ differances between IJ & Maverick. It just depends on one person's opinion. I consider IJ to be a themed coaster because the themeing is a major part of the ride. Without the themeing, it really would be a rather boring coaster. Maverick is a coaster that has theming, but the themeing is not a major part of the ride. Even in CP's Faq of the ride it mentions that there definition of themeing for this ride is the different colors of the trains, the tunnel, and the inversions. Without the themeing, it still looks to be a good coaster (we will see come May).

But are adding new trains a guaranteed fix for the issues SoB has? Simply put, did the current trains have anything to do with the accident in July? I am not an engineer, but I don't see how a certain type of train would have prevented the splintering of a verticle beam. I am all for new trains, but if the decision were that easy, I would hope that it would have already been done. I understand that new trains are expensive, and there would have to be a good amount of engineering done just because of what the coaster is asking the trains to do (go through the loop). But what has been/ would be more expensive: all the modificatons, all the retacking, or new trains?

I find this rather humorus. And the following is purely hypothetical. So does this mean when there is a 100 meter race, and the first three people to cross the finish line have a time of 9.75, 9.76, & 9.77 respectivly, that the guy who came in third ran a 9.77, (the pervious world record being 9.78) does that mean he holds a record? Rider- Ya, those press releases are rather funny on how they hype up the rather insignificant details to make it sound like it is the next best thing to sliced bread. On the other hand, what should they put in those releases? No company is going to come out and say that "this is the 174th longest coaster in the world" or "this is the 30th fastest coaster in the world" or even "hey world, we are building a rather normal coaster comparing it to the others we have". Those releases are more for the casual park visitor. -
Something happened to SoB? This is new, I never heard about it...
-
I don't no everything, but my wife accuses me of thinking that I know everything during an arguement. So would I be considered a No-it-All, or a Know-it-All?
-
This is rather intresting. Was the leak fixed before the next cycle ran?

Well ok, maybe not EVERY park, but I'm sure you understood the meaning. And my mentioning Thunder Road as referring to KI's original name for Top Gun. It was changed after Paramount bought the park in 1993. I figured you would have known that. Well? You can see this in PKICentral's timeline. Here is the link for your viewing pleasure. http://www.pkicentral.com/parkinfo/history/timeline.php -

No it was not. How does a Beast fit in with Rivertown? How does a Sceamin Demon fit in with Lion Country Safari? How does a Racer fit in with Coney mall? How does a Bat fit in with Coney mall? How does a Beastie fit in with Hanna Barbarra land? How does Thunder Road fit in with Lion Country Safari? The list goes on... Every park has some type of "Rivertown" area, as well as a main midway, and a themed children's area etc. Having these named areas help with new people entering the park locate where they are at using the handy park map given to them at the park entrance. If having an area with a name is considered it being themed, than in your opinion, you are right. But considering all the other posts were referring to the themeing of rides, comparing the naming of certain areas of a park as themeing is not what I was referring to. -

CP is not a theme park. Never has been, never will be. Although they have some rides that have themeing (DT & TTD) comparing both parks as far as themeing is like matching apples and oranges. TTD's themeing basically went out the window when one of the large tires broke off and ended up landing in the pond near the Iron Dragon pretzel. As a safety precaution, this themeing was removed. The DT themeing was an attempt to make a mediocre ride (Avalanche Run) better with less than stellar results, hence the reason why this themeing has not been maintained. Kings Island was not a theme park before Paramount took over. Once Paramount bought the park and tried to make it a theme park to promote their own movies, they quickly found out that it took more than just the initial year to maintain themeing. It required more money and time than was obviously alotted. -
Considering that The Beast gained 431 pts. vs. the 36 pts. (however they came to these "points", I have no idea) that SoB garnered, being in the top 50 is not as glamorus as you have made it seem. If you add everything up: the initial cost of the ride, the costs of the numerous repairs/ modifications to the ride, the downtime, the injuries that the ride has caused, and the black mark that it has put on KI because of both the injuries & downtime. It is just not worth it anymore. All the money spent trying to improve SoB could have been spent in other areas of the park; i.e. all the themeing that has not been maintained throughout the park & on other rides. It would be nice to see the ride operate again, but over the past six years, it has become the money pit.

If CP took the mid launch idea from anything it would be Volcano at PKD- another Intamin coaster. I was surprised that it did cost $21 million. I was expecting a decent coaster for a decent price. I'm sure Maverick will be a really good coaster, but for $4 million less than MF, it seems that it may be overpriced. But heck, who the heck am I? I really don't know crap about the costs of installing a coaster. I just know how to ride them! -
Amazingly enough Steel Dragon opened back up on Sept. 3rd, after being down for just over 3 years. http://www.rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=Steel+Dragon+2000 http://www.nagashima-onsen.co.jp/data/d160_1.html It has been closed since Aug. '03 after a wheel came off and hit a women *I believe* in their water park.
