  1. What happened on Chiller- Robin?
  2. Trolls have taken over FoF!
  3. Some of the comments that have been made are laughable. Winterfest was cancelled by Paramount for a number of years, and when it did come back last winter- it was not close to what it used to be. If Cedar Fair views Winterfest as profitable they will do it- hence the reason why CF bought KI, to make money. But since WF was unorganized and not well recieved in 2005 it could be put on hold for '06 until CF can evaluate it thouroughly. Fearfest is profitable- so there is no reason to cancel it whatsoever. You cannot compare GL to KI- don't insult the park we all love. CF took over a huge mess from Six Flags, and GL still needs a year or two to improve park operations as well as public opinion. CF does not own the park right now- so there is no way that they could change ANYTHING in the park presently; and you are not going to see major changes until 2008. Perhaps some of the memorabilia; cost of tickets/ food etc., and other small changes in 2007. Basically CF paid $1.24 billion for the Paramount chain. They are not going to run anything into the ground purposely. Will mistake happen? Sure, it happens with all business, but for the most part CF has made great business decisions. If they did not, there is no way they could have generated that much money to make the purchase.
  4. According to numerous reports there were several intrested parties- but no names mentioned.
  5. Well here is a poll from coaster enthusiasts, and it is just a wood coaster poll: http://www.ushsho.com/woodpoll12yeartable2005.htm SoB is near the bottom of the list. If the enthusiasts believe that it is too rough, imagine what the general public feels about SoB. With any luck, the modifications will make it a better ride. But it is intresting that KI has not really made it well known that SoB has had modifications made to it that (I'm guessing) had a price tag of a couple million bucks. With that kind of investment I would think that there would have been some press releases about the improvments- Unless even KI is unsure of the improvments themselves.
  6. Well that certainly changes things if it is only for 2007; not the possibility for future years beyond '07. It doesn't mean that there will be a ride that exceeds $20 million, but it also does not close the door that it can't happen.
  7. PKD is a disgrace. It is so bad that to the normal person they probably believe that PKI is the same way (which it is not even close). I have been to PKD on 5 seperate occasions, the last visit being the summer of 2005, and swore that I am not going to waste my time going back- and I get in for free with my PKI season pass! I would rather spend an extra day at BGE. And as far as CP vs. PKI's attendence. We are talking a difference of less than 150,000 guests between the two parks. And comparing CP to PCW is also unfair considering that the city of Toronto metro area has about 5 million people.
  8. Where did you find this quote? And if it is true, it is not that big of a deal. Both TTD ans MF both had a price tag of $25 million which so far has been the highest price ride built for any CF park. You can build a really great coaster for $19 million. But if CF is going to continue Paramount's direction of more family rides, it is a moot point anyway.
  9. Because KI is only 20 miles north of Cincy, whereas CP is 118 miles from Detroit and 61 miles from Cleveland. Given the health (or lack thereof) of both cities it is not surprising that KI had more visitors than CP. Chances are most of the visitors to PKI are from the local Cicy area.
  10. Well I believe that this is good news for KI as a whole. The most significant change that will probably happen next season is a price reduction at the main gate and some reductions in some of the food pricing. It will be intersting to see what happens for season passes. Will a KI pass be usable at CP & GL? If they are able to be used, I would expect the cost of a season pass to jump up $20. But what do I know, I'm just speculating. But there is one thing I can see happening the origional name "Kings Island" is back.
  11. http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=913 Maybe it is not just PKI but all of Paramount Parks.

  13. Apparently during a CF shareholder meeting, Dick Kinzel mentioned that CF is considering buying PKI. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...ESS06/605190358
  14. I just hope that the improvments that have been made will improve SoB to the kind of coaster that it was expected to be. I am anxious to try it out. If the modifications do not work, I don't expect SoB around much longer due to low ridership and the expense of upkeep.
  15. It is intersting that you say that; because I used to have that same feeling about KI. Unfortunately, that feeling has diminished over the past 6 years. I have been going to KI since 1978 and had my first ride on The Beast in '79. The park has changed drastically since then; some for the better, and some changes that I did not agree with. (But it is not my park- so either I deal with it or just don't go back) Now that I have been to numerous parks it is easy, and fair, to compare parks against each other. I personally love BGE. There is something about that park that just makes me want to go back. KI was like that for me for many years, but it just lost that charm. It is not that I do not like or enjoy KI anymore- I do still love the park; but if I had to make a decision to go to KI or BGE, I would choose BGE. It seems that many people take the criticism that others have mentioned about PKI personally. It is nothing personal, it is just an opinion.
  16. I do not actually know why Intamin uses different types of track; but my guess is that it depends on the type of stress that particular section of track is under when the train is going over it. More stress= 4bar track, least amount of stress= 2 bar track. Haa. Summer is in the air. The smell of freshly cut grass; waking up to sunlight; and knowing that school is out and the trolls come out.
  17. MF uses all types of Intamin track: 3 point: http://www.rcdb.com/ig594.htm?picture=9 4 point: http://www.rcdb.com/ig594.htm?picture=12 I could not find a pic for the 2 rail that is used on the end brake run, but they are there.
  18. Even though HBL was a bunch of carnie rides, PKI has hyped NU to the point that you would think that everything has changed, and minus a couple rides and some new paint it really hasn't. It really was not a stupid comment. With HBL, we knew what to expect. With NU we were led to believe it would be drastically different.
  19. "Official" Details announced. http://www.coasterbuzz.com/pdf/beastbuzz2006.pdf
  20. That is REALLY grasping at straws.
  21. The radius of the track that has been seen does not match anything on TTD, and, the track used on TTD is 4 bar track (basically forms a box)- whereas the track seen is the 3 bar track. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1646.htm?picture=10 It looks to be track for an Aqua Trax. I am not too excited for it- but that is only me. Only time will tell what it actually is.
  22. After looking at these pics from yesterday of all these footers, there is no doubt that it is certainly a coaster. Now what kind? That is the next question. I just hope it is not an Aqua Trax. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=3394
