  1. You came to that conclusion from looking at some pictures and not even knowing what kind of coaster it is yet? That is impressive!
  2. The money that has been spent on DT over the years has been minimal because the popularity has also been minimal. Why spend all the extra cash on ride that a majority of people did not like even when the themeing was good?
  3. How can you put that much stock into a event that was only back for one year, and was poorly planned from the start? Winterfest 2005 was absolutely horrible compared to what Winterfest used to be. I can understand if Winterfest had never left why you would feel that way, but after Paramount discarded it, and made a lame attempt to bring it back, it is a wise decision on CF's part to cancel it and make a sound business decision for next year. I also make the suggestion to take a trip to CP when you have the opportunity. CP may boast 16 coasters, but they also have 52 other rides to try, many for younger kids. Both my 3 & 5 year olds love the park. They have as much fun at CP as they do at KI. Don't let the supposed "reputation" of CP ruin your feelings for KI. CF is more family orientated than people give it credit.
  4. Cedar Fair already communicated that they were going to go ahead with the current Paramount plans after the sale, and he also communicated that it would not be a major expenditure. Lion- You may want to see this rather informative video. It will certainly help! http://www.linuxbench.org/Posting.html
  5. If there is a non-compete clause between B&M & Busch Gardens (I have not seen one officially) it would probably also include a certain clause for where B&M cannot build a dive machine within a certain proximity of BGE. I also find it hard to believe that such a clause at BGE would affect KI. The parks are well over 500 miles apart. It would be bad business for B&M to limit themselves to only Busch properties, especially since Six Flags has made it well known they are not going to be building big coasters anytime soon. And while Busch and B&M do have a excellent relationship, Busch parks do not add coasters often enough to keep B&M in business.
  6. What happened on Kingda Ka was that the catch car that pulls the train did not stop, which caused a considerable amount of damage. The accident really did not have anything to do with the magnetic brake fins that slow the car down in the event of a roll back.
  7. Well I haven't hit the "geezer" stage yet , but being in my 30's, I must be going through the mid-life crisis stage as far as forums go.
  8. Another prime example of the media hype that is just plain wrong. Ironically, some of those examples given were unfortunate fatalities on rides that are "movable". And then to only get your information from rideaccidents.com is just insulting to those who actually follow some of these problems. Even mentioning about the boy who died on RRC is absolutely horrible journalism. The ride had nothing to do with his death, he had a unknown pre-existing condition, and the article made it sound like it was hte ride's fault. Most fatalities that happen on rides that are not "movable" are because of pre-existing conditions, not ride malfunctions. But ironically, the fatality that happened to this traveling carnival some time ago was clearly spelled out, and a full story given so that the reader would not believe that it was a ride malfunction. Even mentioning SoB is bad. Most of the story dealt with fatalities. And even so that the story mentioned that SoB had only injuries, to someone who just scans through the story could get the impression that there were fatalities on SoB. Man it is only 7:00am and I'm wired over this one.
  9. Since the subject of "old" has come up. How old does a person have to be, to be considered old?
  10. Many members on PointBuzz are actually the most critical of the park. Even though CP is their "home" park, they are the first ones to criticize it. Which really is not a bad thing. CP has attained the "best park" monniker for many years now, and the die-hard fans of CP expect perfection. When the park does not meet the "best park" expectation, those on PointBuzz are the first to complain (sometimes with just reason) about the issue. I can still remember back when The Beast first opened, KI was the cleanest, and one of the most beautifully landscaped parks. Paramount really did nothing to continue that tradition. CP has always been generally clean, and well landscaped where available. But nowadays, Busch Gardens Europe is almost impossible to touch in the cleanliness/ landscape catagory. ... and back on topic. This is great news for my family. We traditionally have purchased both PKI & CP passes every year. This is one HUGE cost savings for us!
  11. The closing of SoB for the rest of the season is not exactly a surprise. I do like some of the changes mentioned though. It is going to be a most interesting off season.
  12. If this is true, it is too bad that someone has to go to these measures. It just seems to me that $4000 seems a bit much though. How can someone expect to get away with that kind of pilfering? (If you even consider it pilfering) There may be more to this story.
  13. The issues with SFDL are the same issues that SFWoA had. Less than desirable employees, lack of park attention, single train operations etc. IMO what it comes down to is that the smaller SF parks do not gain the attention that is needed. The attention goes to the larger parks. The former owner of DL is even intrested in buying the park back from SF. It is kind of funny that for years now, many of us have gone back and forth about if CF was better, Paramount is better etc. What we should be saying is, "At least SF does not own KI."
  14. Who has mentioned that these people deserve a free ride?
  15. Whoa! Slow down Cheetah! There is no reason to get personal. This is meant to be a family-type environment. How are personal attacks helping the conversation?
  16. Busch Gardens Europe has some high food prices, but the quality of the food is the best of any park I have been to with the excecption of Epcot (comparing Disney to another park is unfair). Nice trip report. I have also complained numerous times about the lack of a true sit-down restaurant at PKI. That will probably change in the next couple years.
  17. I would not take the "neglect" issue personally. From a maintenance standpoint, it was probably difficult, if not impossible to detect this problem with the wood. The suits being filed are going to cover all the possible reasons for the failure, and using the words "neglect" and "lack of maintenance" are commonly used. If the maintenance department has nothing to hide, and they probably don't, I would not worry about it. Now the suit that PKI filed about substandard wood that was used will most certainly come up. If a decision was made to continue running with this bad wood, and the accident happened; that is most certainly neglect. All of these issues will come out in the wash if these cases actually make it to court.

  19. His parents were and probably are still destroyed. Imagine how the person would feel that makes the decision to open SoB to the public and there is another accident.
  20. It is amazing that some of the fanboys just cannot seem to understand that there were 27 people that sought medical attention. A frivolous lawsuit would be one person that slipped on a wet surface on the midway and wants to sue because they can't walk without tripping over their own feet, not 27 people that were in a accident they could not control. And this accident actually resulted in overnight stays in the hospital for 2 people. Hospitals don't admit people just for the thrill of it. Now the lawsuit that was filed when the person was hit by lightning in the parking lot, that can be considered frivolous, but not those who were injured on SoB. KI has considered themselves a family park for a few years now, and that is their reasoning for not adding large scream machines with large price tags; and many that are regulars on this site here have defended that. Now when there is an unfortunate accident to someone that needs to provide for their families and can't, because of what happened, what kind of message is that sending to everyone that enters the park, including yourselves? It is laughable & disgusting at the same time to hear someone say that they would not file a lawsuit given the same set of circumstances. How can you sit there and even imagine what these people have gone through? And how can you imagine what their families have gone through? Unless you have actually been injured, or had a family member injured, you cannot say that you would not file a lawsuit. You have nothing to compare their situation to. And if you have so much money that you can actually say you would not file a lawsuit against the park, why don't you start a fund at a local bank to help out the family in need so they don't have to sue the park. *stepping off soapbox*
  21. And those quotes came from PKI officials. Did you expect them to say "Well we new about it, and didn't care"? PKI will settle out of court for these injuries- No matter what is said on the back of the ticket.
  22. Planning a coaster takes about three years. Paramount put the parks up for sale last year. And you are going to complain because CF is going ahead with their plan? I guess I don't understand what the complaint is really about.
  23. I have heard the same thing, but have questioned the truth of it. When Six Flags bought Geauga Lake, they had Batman installed which is a B & M. I just never understood why PKI could not build a B & M, but SF could especially since GL is closer to CP. Now if it is because Batman is a floorless and nothing at CP is close to that, it would make sense, but there is no reason that PKI could not have put one in then. Not to mention, the last B & M installed at CP was Mantis back in '94. I would imagine that if there was a non-complete clause between CP & B&M it would only last a certain amount of years.
  24. None of us have any idea what is in store for KI for 2007 let alone 2008. As much as I would love to have any type of B & M at the park, with the sale just completed a month and a half ago nobody can predict/ guess/ know what CF has planned, or if anything IS even planned as of right now. And those who say they know, are just trolling. Those darn lemon chill guys are at it again!
  25. CF has always had a no reride policy, that is not something new. As to why they have this policy, I can only guess. Now the camera in line rule does not make sense at all.
