  1. Actually, if you search many of the forum topics before the sale announcement, many here at KIC were very pro- Paramount. Most here were not around in the late 70's and early 80's. And as for the rides that Paramount put in, some were record holders, but records mean as much as the paper they are written on- the SFMM vs. CP coaster war defines that. Other rides like FoF, even though the PKI version opened before PKD's (I believe) it still is a cookie cutter ridewhich takes away for it's uniqueness. You also can't credit Paramount for Winterfest or FearFeast. They actually cancelled Winterfest for many years, and then made a lame attempt to bring it back for one season. And FearFest was an event that all parks were doing to bring in more people usually when the park was closed or very slow at the end of the season. It's not like Paramount was the only park that had the idea. Paramount did some good things, which is why the attendance stayed consistant. They made the park attractive to families with both thrill and family rides, which was a great marketing stratagy with CP to the North. Overall, I just would have liked to have seen Paramount stay consistant with their enthusiasm of a ride that was 3 years old as well as the new ride for the year.
  2. Well that just shows how much I pay attention to the food service at the park.

  4. Pepsi will make it's way into all of the recently purchased Paramount Parks. It could happen mid-season or in '08. It's just a matter of when.
  5. Well KI could have had a Chick-fil-a, like CP, which does not open on Sundays. I understand that it is corporate policy that they don't open on Sundays, but for a seasonal park I would expect something that is open 7 days a week. But it doesn't hurt their business in other stores, so what do I know. Ironically CP is also getting a Panda Express. I can see it now, General Tso's chicken and immediately following a couple spins on either Delirium or MaXair. ... what a mess!
  6. Why install a construction cam for a ride that has already been built at another park? There won't be any changes to the ride itself. So what would be the point? Maverick has a construction cam because it is a new coaster. CP also had one of the best marketing campaigns for a new ride that kept enthusiasts guessing as to what they were doing. The cam was just another marketing tool. And quite honestly, it was a brilliant move. They knew that the ride was not going to break any records, so they had to find a way to keep everyone's intrest. They got it.
  7. The park has not even opened for '07, and the wish list for '08 is being discussed? Let's see what changes, if any, that CF will be making this year before thinking about '08.
  8. Especially since it was built on a parking lot anyway.
  9. Here are some pics of the de-construction at Geauga courtousy of rollercoasterfreak.com. http://www.rollercoasterfreak.com/Geauga_L...light/index.htm
  10. Remember this? http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ic=8986&hl= There certainly were a good amount of people second guessing CF's decisions.

  12. MPA= map lovers anonymous "Hi, I'm (insert name here), and I have a problem. I need maps. Lots and lots of maps. And they better be updated!"
  13. Is this going to be a single circut track, or a loop track? Either way, the wait times would be terrible since one option would be a single train, and the other would be a 2 train system, but you could not start a full train until the other was ready as well. FoF is just a unload/ load station with a wall between them. If you want someting to go from point "A" to point "B" for transportation reasons, put a monorail system in, or put an addition onto the train.
  14. I am not trying to doubt you, but has this been confirmed? The reason why I ask is that their alcohol related insurance premiums would have had to of gone up considerably just due to the plain fact that there will be more people consuming beer because they can walk around with it.
  15. It is a nice idea, but Cedar Fair is not in the theme park business. CF has used some themeing on their rides, but it is not well maintained and is forgotten about completely about 4 years after the ride has been opened. Paramount actually took better care of the themeing for their rides, and that is not saying much.

  17. Yes Sheikra at BGA is going floorless, but BGE will open Griffon, which is floorless, on May 25th and Sheikra shuts down on May 28th for the new operation. So don't sweat it, just take the short drive North to try out Griffon. http://www.rcdb.com/document231.htm Sure it will be a different feel to the ride. Obviously the powers that be at BG felt the train modification was worth the price of downtime & costs associated with going floorless.
  18. Why is there so much intrest in the map?
  19. I personally love the "people on the ride can see into my backyard" comment. First, what are you doing in the backyard that either you are embarressed for others to see or you are doing illegally? And on top of that... How much can you actually see, or identify, moving in an up/ down circular motion at 60 mph? This guy was worried about his property value. Well just say that this park goes under. What would happen to his property value being so close (in his opinion) to a rusted out haven for vermin? Some people just have too much time on their hands.
  20. It used to be International Restaurant which has been closed for some years now. It is occaisionally used for special events.
  21. I can still remember waiting in line for The Beast at the base of the Eiffel Tower back in '79(four hours!). I was able to ride it in the morning, but in the afternoon I was unable to get on due to my height (I was 6). So my parents put paper towels in the heel of my shoe to get me a little taller to get on at night. It worked! I can also remember all the times we would go to KI and look at The Bat SBNO and being frustrated that the ride never ran (we did get on ONCE). You have to remember, I live in Erie, PA- 350 miles from the park, so that one day at the park was all we could do all year. I still live in Erie, but now I have season passes for my whole family and we go down about four times a year. We would also get reservations for International restaurant everytime for dinner, and eat lunch in the parking lot. There are so many things to remember that I could go on for hours. It is too bad that some of my fondest memories of the park are just that- memories. I.E.- IR, Wild Animal Habitat, Flight Commander, KC.
  22. You have to give CF more credit than that. I cannot believe that they would buy trains for SoB just to have the same exact ride as we have had for the previous 7 seasons. There is the possibility that SoB may not even operate this summer if the train issues are not properly resolved. The worst thing that could happen is if CF rushes to get SoB operating just to have the same type ride, or even worse, another incident. That would probably seal the deal for SoB. But I honestly believe that CF is taking their time to resolve SoB's issues so that it will be a completely different ride even than just taking the loop away. And if that takes more than one year, so be it.
  23. Just a reminder to hurry up to get plane tickets! http://www.universalorlando.com/usf_attr_bttf.html
  24. I went to MarineLand in Niagara Falls, Canada in the summer of 2005 and could not believe the distance there was between attractions. And I mean ALL attractions. They have so much land to use it is rather undescribable. It makes CP and KI look like every attraction is on top of one another.
