  1. I was confused about this as well. It sounds as if it is the original suit, but CF was not a plaintiff in the original suit. Unless there is some type of legal jargon that deals with the sale of the park which then names CF automatically with the sale. Any corporate attornys out there?
  2. Paramount & CF are seeking $20.8 million in court? Wow. I knew there was a substantial amount poured into the ride, I just didn't realize it was that much. If the ride had a price tag of $17 million, does that mean that over $20 million has been spent to fix it? I have to agree now, the writing is on the wall. The loop removal is only step one of a much larger project.
  3. Gravel? Dirt? I'm just glad that the painted lines for the parking lot did not come with the ride. Speaking of dirt... http://www.rcdb.com/ig920.htm?picture=6
  4. You are right. It doesn't hurt in non-moving rain. It's the moving rain that'll get ya!
  5. That is a rather scary story. Back in 2000, I was on my honeymoon (2 weeks in Disney) and when we landed in Orlando, that was the first thing you could smell- smoke. I never saw the fires myself, but the smoke was quite apparent when we arrived at Port Orleans. Until then, I have never been in a situation like that. Apparently the fires were about 1 mile from the Disney property. We did take a day trip to Tampa, and on the way, there were warning signs for visibility due to the smoke. The areas around the highway were also scorched. I hope that there have been no fatalities & property damage has been minimal where the fires are at. http://www.redorbit.com/images/images-of-t...ires/index.html This is a space shot of the affected area and a small article.
  6. Yes. It was called Vertigo. One of the 3 towers snapped the first winter (2002) due to a condition called 'Vortex shedding'. You can read about it here. Scroll down to the bottom of the article. http://www.tms.org/pubs/journals/JOM/0205/Byko-0205.html
  7. Yeah. Sure. Check out pointbuzz. People there have made comments ranging from "CP is just doing this to take our money", to "CP lied to us". It really is amazing how ignorant people can be when they let their emotions talk, as opposed to their head. I can understand people's disappointment, but hey, it IS an Intamin coaster. Their track record is not the best. Why some would plan their one and only vacation to the park on opening weekend just to ride Maverick really does blow my mind away.
  8. Please don't post comedy like that. I just spit coffee all over my monitor. Great joke though!
  9. Well it seems that Intamin has suggested to replace 3 sections of track after the launch out of the tunnel. I do give credit to CP for coming foward with the news, but when are they going to learn that Intamin rides just are not reliable. Great rides- EVENTUALLY Ironically enough, the rumor site most seem to hate came up with this news back in March.
  10. What else do you need? They offer 51 other rides that are not coasters.
  11. Great. Now everytime I go on it, and it gets to the top of the cycle, all I am going to think is; "I'm the king of the world!" Ya, thanks alot!
  12. Be sure to bring warm clothes. Even though the high is supposed to be 65, the lake temperature is about 55. If you get a breeze off the lake, it will be a little chilly. Also, park in the back of the park. There is a entrance near Magnum (Resort entrance, Soak City etc.) Which is real close to TTD and is also the closest entrance to Maverick. Have a great trip!
  13. Yes, Kinzel did say that in a Cleveland Plain Dealer article on Sunday. I would have to think that the lesser of two evils is to have a ride operating- even though it was a large investment, than to have a large investment- and tear it down. Even though TTD & KK were two of the largest investments ever, you cannot label them as failures. The Bat & DF are complete failures since there was no way to keep them operating. The jury is still out on SoB.
  14. Doesn't this eyewitness account pretty much squash the real or photoshopped arguement? ^ And another eyewitness account.
  15. That is a rather bold statement especially since TTD & KK are actually operating and were not dismantled compared to rides like The Bat & Drachen Fire. Also, how can SoB be a wash? That means it would have had to actually brought the same amount of guests to the gate to justify to costs to build it as well as the numerous repairs/ re-engineering it has gon through since 2000. I can't see it even being close to a wash.
  16. Tell your teacher to invest in a cooler(s) and have lunch, dinner, and snacks at the car! Even before my wife and I had kids, we would do this. It's cheaper and more relaxing.
  17. The only way to enforce the line jumping policy is to remove the individual from the park. Obviously each individual case is different. I consider line jumping into two different catagories: 1.) Blatently jumping the queue line- this is the most obvious or 2.) trying to catch up with someone that is ahead of you in line- this is the most common. Yes, #2 is considered line jumping. But if a person was getting a drink from a vending machine that was in line, or using the test seat and their party continued through the line, or uses the "If I don't pee now it is the bush in the corner- or your leg". This is not as bad, and is usually not intended to be line jumping. These individuals just need to be told on what is accecptable and what is not. Once the individual has been "coached" take their id, name, what they are wearing, friends they are with etc., and document it. If there is another reported instance of line jumping, then escort them from the park. If they are over the age of 16, chances are they have some type of ID. If they don't have ID, be sure to try and document as much about the person & the group they are with to scare the crap out of them so that it doesn't happen again. There are ways to get away with anything (see OJ Simpson). Is there one thing that can solve the problem?- NO. But it needs to start somewhere. The park needs to enforce the rules. If they don't, the infractions will continue & also get worse.
  18. That may not be necessarily true. Even though HW does give away free soft drinks, they don't have to have employees hired to sell the soft drinks. The syrup used for soft drinks is actually very cheap to purchase. It would be intresting to break down the costs involved for both parks, but again, I am not an accountant.
  19. I suppose this means that the birds will have to aim at a better looking target.
  20. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270154,00.html It appears to be this coaster. The ride must have recently added new trains & a new paint job since the rcdb.com pics were taken. http://www.rcdb.com/id1187.htm
  21. So are you saying in would be easier to TAER TG down, and replace it, than to clear some of the land that KI already owns and build a new ride? And what type of appealing ride could only go where TG is currently located? I am still trying to figure out why some believe addition by subtraction is a good thing. *Excuse me while I beat my head against the wall*
  22. I think it is still too early to really have a grasp onto what CF has in store for KI. Last year CF could not do too much since they aquired the park in July, and the park has only been open for 4 days so far this year. The end of this season may actually be too quick to actually see what CF is going to do long term. What CF has done so far has been nice. I am really looking foward to year 3 to see how the park is doing.
  23. Cedar Point is more like a resort setting. CP themselves have 4 hotels, and there are a couple hundred more in Sandusky. People will stay at the hotels for 3-4 days to try and do everything. Comparing it to Disney is a real big reach, but it is something like that. And like Interp said: the Beach is right across the street from KI. Changing it to two seperate admissions would be business suicide. I can't think of any outdoor waterparks that could compete with Soak City, so CP can get away with charging 2 seperate admissions. And if the 2 seperate admissions did not work for CP, it would have been changed years ago.
  24. You have no reason to apologize. It is not your fault, nor is it the park's fault. There are just some individuals that think they are above the rules. ... but thanks for the info!
