  1. It was an example for those who are complaining about said trim brakes Terp. I knew you knew.... And of course Focke knew, no maintenance related topic got past him without an ok or a negative. And as for the trim, its up at the entrance of the rosebowl, or used to be.
  2. Mr. Beetle, Actually, that is the proper procedure. In fact, and I doubt this has changed much since 07, the roaming security guards were NOT in charge of the lines. The Ride Operators were in charge of the lines, and what went on within them. When I went through training to be a ride operator in 2002, I was told that as soon as the person is in the line, they are our responsibility. The job title might not describe it, however one job that EVERY employee at Kings Island has is safety and security. For a ride operator who is working on a ride (lets say, SOB,) they are trained to operate the ride AND police the lines, maintaining order on THEIR platform to ensure smooth and safe operating procedures. This extends from the platform down to the queue house to the entrance of said ride. Even the exits are the ride operators' territory. And as for those operators who do not act on such infringements, unfortunately I do not work for the park anymore. I would say replace them, put them on a food stand or a game, but that is not my decision.
  3. That actually happens to me on Invertigo, so I know what you mean, but never on BLSC.
  4. Going back to the original post (and I'm at work and can't really read all of it so sorry if its been answered) is because of cost of demolition vs. leaving it. It was cheaper to leave it up and hide it with bushes than to tear that entire platform down to remove it. The poles most likely were torn out and use at DB, to save on cost. As for that little patch of land, there were talks when I worked at the park about removing that old theatre, so they most likely just removed it. In fact, for a little while in 2006 or 07, there was a trailer game parked right in front of that theatre.
  5. Here's a wonderful little question on this topic: If someone wants to sell their "limited edition" shirt to make a few bucks, who are we to stop them? Also, who are we to judge someone, and for that matter, care who wears those shirts? Tom, who is now thinking of a certain enthusiast group who loves their shirts a little TOO much...
  6. Too many smurfs in your bran this morning? Tom, who needed a one-liner, he was getting rusty.
  7. And Vortex, please don't think that I was jumping on you for this post: Its that a lot of people on these forums (and in the GP as well) expect others to step forward and take initiative, so it aggravates me to the point where I can hardly hold it in anymore. If people were to take initiative and make the park as safe as it can be, these types of situations would not come up. For example, a lot of crime happens in Over the Rhine, can we all agree on that? Well, a lot of people avoid that area because they do not want trouble. If the good folks living in Over the Rhine would step up and start reporting problems, then that area would get a better reputation than it has now. As for the security guard, most incidents are taken DEAD seriously, however for threatening, I believe they need at least one other witness outside of your immediate party (especially a little girl threatening a 6`4 guy, trust me I know, Im 6`6,) to take serious action. The most important thing in those cases is to go ahead and take a mental step back and disassociate yourself from the anger and feelings, and then go about your day. Now Im not giving a free pass to the KI "rent a cops" because that was shoddy work, and I do expect better of them. But I was just trying to give a helpful tip for next time.
  8. You guys do realize that trim brakes are NOT controlled in the drive box right? That is not left up to someone who is a ride op, that is determined by Maintenance. Therefor, how exactly do you guys know they are being turned off and not that you stop feeling them? And as a small little teeny piece of information to back this up: Anyone ever hear of the trim brake on SOB? Anyone remember riding it in 2001-2002, and remembering actually feeling it? Thats right, SOB's trim brake ran for two seasons, and I'm betting that NO ONE knew...
  9. After living right underneath a major flight path for CVG for 20 years, I don't want to hear about noise concerns from a helicopter. Let that guy go and live next to an airport and then move back, it will be like a whole new house for him! Anyway, never got into the whole helicopter flight idea.
  10. When I was a ride op, I had several people escorted out of the park in shiny bracelets that were connected by the Mason Police for linejumping.
  11. Its actually normal for FD to almost stall on the lift. Thats part of the blocking system. And the knocking noise is the anti-rollbacks.
  12. The original idea was to not have an actual queue house, and just have a line leading to the "Carrier." Also, being able to build a lift hill on top of an actual hill, it saves money, so theres another reason.
  13. I will be honest with you guys, I have never had an issue with a line jumper, for this reason: When someone tries to get around me in a line, or jumps in front of me through a hand rail, I don't ask them to move, I don't point out how rude they are. What I do is DEMAND they move, and if they do not, no matter if other people back me up or not, I report it to the ride ops. Thats the problem I see right now from these stories (and no, Im not trying to point blame to anyone. That group was the one in the wrong.) No one wants to talk to the ride op because they do not think that anyone will "back them up." REPORT THEM PEOPLE! How is the park supposed to help out with this if you don't tell them about it at the ride?!? Let me go ahead and tell you guys the truth: Information from GR does not filter down quickly to the ride/stand very quickly (if at all,) so tell the ride ops, ALONG WITH GR so that all parties know to make this better! What I am about to say next is not supposed to hurt anyone's feelings, but it might, so read with caution. What I am seeing/hearing on these boards with the line jumping experiences are sob stories, "make me feel better" comments, and horrible ways to approach this situation. For once, I want to hear a story that has this line in it somewhere, "I reported it to the ride operator instead of waiting to get all the way to the front to GR." Can anyone actually say that? Tom, who hates to rant, but is tired of people not taking the direct route and reporting it to the PROPER people.
  14. I could talk to certain people on this board about the importance of trim brakes, and how they improve the lifetime of a coaster, and how they make the ride safer, however its obvious that a single ride on a coaster is more important than these things. Oh and reinforcing a ride to get rid of trim brakes is a horrible idea (already tried, bad results.)
  15. I normally go with cargo shorts (with buttons) and a t shirt and a pair of sandals/flip flops.
  16. I believe there is a form that a parent can fill out certifying that corporal punishment is ok to do to their kid. In the state, it might be allowed, however in school districts (public school) it is outlawed, so private schools still have that option.
  17. Sadly enough, its because these Mother groups on the Hill. They started out with good intentions (for example, coming up with "safe harbor" hours for children on TV and radio) however now these groups want the government to actually raise their kids for them, instead of taking initiative. Whats the saying? It takes a community to raise a child?
  18. Just keep in mind that Cincinnati was also ranked "One of the cheapest places to live," which means in Cincinnati, prices are lower than everywhere else. But in the same idea, our salaries are also reflected in this as well.
  19. There are just some things that you scratch your head and just say, "Ok......"
  20. Looks like a normal box that they store random junk in back there, from they way it looked on skycam...
  21. I personally like the fact that she announces its not scary then gets the most freaked out look I have ever seen on a kid for awhile.
  22. Well they are putting tracking chips in kids now..... Why not throw them a bone?
  23. Cool pics. Now when this was built, was it a specific mental disease that it treated (think Waverly Hills) or was it just a general psych ward?
  24. Im with the BB idea. Honestly, with the tailbone, I would take it easy until it heals up. Its not worth one day of fun against that donut thing.
  25. I rode it once, and (how to put this without offending anyone....) I could barely walk after that experience. Never rode it again after that.
