What Terpy is trying to say is that in the big cities, crime rate is higher, and those who grow up on "the street" are tougher and can potentially be more physical than the person who grew up on "the street" of, oh lets say, Mason, Ohio. Thats all Terpy was trying to say. Oh and a word on those cut throughs: Those cut throughs are for maintenance and ride operators to quickly get from the exit to the entrance on long paths. For example, lets say that something is wrong with a light in the queue of WWC. The path that leads to the entrance the quickest is behind tower 2, and leads to the exit line. So the cut through can then be utilized to make it to the light you are fixing quicker than going to the station, then all the way down. And coming from a ride op's experience with the FD cut through: We tried to put as many people on the ride as possible to help with our capacity numbers. So when it came down to that cut through, it just meant that our numbers were higher than if they had to walk all the way back to the front of the entrance, so we didn't care. Is this, I guess, the "Moral" thing to do? Probably not.

Future of Coney Island, Cincinnati- our Beloved Park
SOB_TOM replied to westcoaster's topic in Coney Island Central
Also, keep in mind that Coney floods fairly often, so anything large will have to be built specifically for flood conditions, therefor costing more. The Python, being a carny ride (yes, its portable,) is fine in flood conditions. So I doubt that we will see the days of the Wildcat again. -
OR, just as a thought, the queue could possibly stay the same way, with Diamondback being above it. Just a thought.....

I would surmise that the park will wait until around the time Season Passes go on sale to boost pre-sale season pass sales.

Ex-Bengal wanted for Kalahari incident

Some people learn, Then others dont, join the Bengals, and make the Bengals look bad..... -
Hey Dan, Sounds like to me you did not ask permission before spray painting, therefor making it open for vandalism. Even if the intention is good, if you do not get permission from the people who own the property, then it can be called vandalism. Lets take it one step closer. Lets say that my neighbor has a fence up that needs painting. I go over and paint it without asking if he wanted it painted, and he finds out I painted it. He can then turn around and sue me for vandalism. Lets figure out this number that they are asking for: 2-wheelers are about $200 each, picnic tables are anywhere from $100-$300. no idea for the pump, awnings can be about $1000, plus man-hours for each (placing of table, replacing awning) would be probably around $500, so I say $2k is about right. And BTW, The Interpreter is one of the brightest posters on these boards. To criticize him would be to criticize your own ignorance.

I think he means more for the people who do not have access to post pics in the photo gallery, IE, the common man. That and for info that is pertinent to the construction, which the other thread is kinda thin on, and heavy on the off topic side.

The brakes caused wheel torque issues, which caused them to crack and need replaced almost daily. Another cause of the wheel cracks was where the chain dogs were located. Being at the bottom of the tub also increased torque on the wheels of the cars.

Because theres a long trough makes you think we are getting a coaster? Log flumes start that way too...

I would like to see a rusted-looking coaster for KI in that area, but who knows? It could very well be going overseas for all we know.

The reason that food prices are going up is because the trucking industry that delivers the food is now demanding more money in order to cover rising gas prices. Speaking for my size (6`4 250 lbs) I find it snug, but not tight, to fit into any restraint other than SOB.

Plus, the deer do not like the sounds of the theme park, therefor they stay out of the park area, and just stay back in the woods. I think the park's thinking is that if they do not bother the guests, then they are not a nuisance.

I am full of ?'s! hehehe
SOB_TOM replied to Cortney's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, Eurobungey has a weight limit, so thats considered a restriction. -
I have actually thought about this a little, and the only real room that they would have to expand Flight Deck is either through/over SOB, and even then, it would be tough to design as well as be expensive due to the renovations you would have to make to SOB. I think the better chance you have (and this is probably a few years away) is SOB being torn down, Flight Deck being torn out, and something brand new put into both spots. Of course, CF is not much of throwing away rides...

Could it be possible that the coaster manufacturer was in talks with Paramount, maybe to the planning stage (things just getting on paper) when CF bought the park? And maybe that estimate that I got was for time to manufacturer that actual parts.

I believe the reason that you can take your flip flops off on any ride that you might lose them on is because of safety concerns. I would rather have someone riding barefoot than a shoe go flying and hit me on the head. I would also like to point out that when I was working in the rides department, we were informed that the dress code was bikini tops were fine, however they MUST be wearing shorts, not bikini bottoms. As for the guys: I do not like that fad, however if they wish to demoralize themselves by looking like a thug, then let them. However, if it is offensive to you, then go to guest relations to alert the park to the problem. If enough people do that, then the park will make a rule against it.

At one point SOB had a working brake heading into the rosebowl, however it was so loud (and still ineffective) that you could hear it from the station. It was only operational a few time in I think 2001, and was shut off, but still remains in its place.
-
I would think its VERY unlikely that the track is not made this far in advanced. I'm not going to speculate where the track is going, however the last time I heard, it take roughly 18 months from conception to opening.

You can, but you regret mixing them later.....

DEGENS BACK!!!! It is a filler story. I guarantee you that if a bigger story broke, they would delay the story until the next day. That makes it a fluff story. And Ryan, no matter how long they spend in a park, its still a fluff story.
-
Tell that to a certain family in Louisville.... As true as that statement is Terp, this is a fill story. 9 on Your Side is full of them: Just something to fill in the gaps between major stories. Thus, called a "fluff" story. Its also a moral booster to KI (probably done because KI asked) to reassure visitors, and to get as many who faced concerns about safety back to the park.

Actually, hes not far off. Its not a "light switch" but there is a circuit breaker that can shut main power off to the ride. Works about the same.
