I saw two people passing the ball between each other once, so I went up and kicked it down the midway. They werent happy but I was! I think the balls should be deflated and they have to fill them up themselves. That way, the park still makes their money but noone is bouncing the balls, and you arent paying anyone else to fill them up.

With KI closed, what will you do until it re-opens in April?
SOB_TOM replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
lets see: Bengals are playing so that takes up my sundays till January, Guitar Hero 3 just came out, have to beat that, going back to college (finally) in January so have to get ready for that, sleep is always at a premium for me so I have to catch up on it, Keeping Ryan in line is always a full time job, Other than that, I have nothing going on. -
What kind of rides? The ones that are announced that they are getting, which hasnt happened yet. Speculation rules!
-
Im sure if you donated the funds for 7th portal to the park, they would consider putting it back in. Anyone have $10k laying around anywhere?
-
If you read the fun and safety guide instructions in the front of the rides, almost all the rides say that if you have a neck/back/bone injury, heart condition, pregnancy, recent surgury or illness, you should not ride. I would definitely consult your doctor about it before even going to a theme park

KI has a great kids area, I dont think they need to expand it this year. It would be nice to have a sit down restaraunt up in IR, but it would have to be done correctly. When IR was open, it was close to being a suit/tie place. As for rides, a steel hyper, ferris wheel, and either upgraded theming or upkeep on the current theming would be great.

If you like waterparks, and that is what you are going to KI for, then stay at GWL. A lot of people would go to GWL waterpark in the morning then head over to KI's waterpark for the afternoon and come back when KI closes. If you are going up there just for the hard park, I would recommend going somewhere else. I think the cheapest room is $150, thats not worth it if you are not going to do everything there.

Ok, as the self-proclaimed unofficial voice of reason on the site, I think I can chime in: #1 The entire reason that Congo is where it is located is because there are no water rides on that side of the park. The nearest water ride to Congo is Wild Thornberries. Imagine for a minute that you are a hot guest in the middle of Action Zone, and the only way you can cool off is by riding a water ride. If Congo was not there, you would have to trek all the way over to Rivertown in order to cool yourself off. #2 Timberwolf brings in huge revinues when it is open. Lets look at an average concert at Timberwolf: 6000 people. Thats 6000 people that had to pay admission at $45, plus spending money on food in the park averaging what, maybe $20? Not to mention the concert tickets, which normally run about $20. Not to mention any type of merchandise they may buy. So just off of concert tickets, admission, and food, the park will get around HALF A MILLION dollars for one day. Explain to me again why you would rip it out? Remember with these rumors, KI is a business. They want to keep their visitors happy while keeping revinue up.

And all along I was told that KI relationships dont work....

I will take the park's side on this because I worked up there at the time: No comment. Whatever the answer is, though, it is time to put this incident behind us and move on.

Ok, Im going to cancel Halloween. This is incredible. If you cannot laugh at current events from all angles, and you KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO SEE IT the DONT GO! End of story.
-
That was the plan, however I believe it was the fire chief that said no. Also, from what I have heard, the doghouse was moved because people were complaining about it.

A couple of things on this topic: #1 Who said that this years hh was going to be "politically correct?" Hell, I think that they shouldnt have moved Vick's doghouse because its funny. The grim reapers desk is hilarious if you look at the entire thing: *Note, on top of his DVD stack is a copy of High School Musical 2*. If you dont like it, then dont look at it. Simple as that. And if you want to be completely politically correct, run for office. #2 In the eyes of publicists everywhere, bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. Just the fact that we are talking about Owen Wilson is probabily bringing up memories of Owen Wilson's movies to a few people, and they might go out and watch them. Anyway you look at it, we are still talking about Owen Wilson. So why would you sue someone for them giving you free (and funny, if not distasteful) publicity? #3 I can attest from personal experience that after you have your mental breakdown, and you discuss it with the right people (psychologist), part of the healing process is to laugh. If you dont, you just mope about it and think you are a piece of (insert favorite 4 letter word that does not start with F here.)

How would you feel about KIC text alerts?
SOB_TOM replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
It would actually be kinda interesting to see how often these texts would be sent out. It could also be used to keep people updated on what the top 5 topics of the week are, as well as news. -
Why? Apparently the best ride at GL is already at KI.

Hes right you know... Ive always wondered why Arrow reverse-designed their brakes. Every other coaster manufacturer have "fail-safe" brakes, meaning a fail causes the brake to close. However on Arrows, the brakes open. To me, its a flaw in the system.

I will be at Wright-Patt all weekend, so no I wont be there. I honestly think I wont be able to make it this year. Im working the Dent Schoolhouse during the weekends.

"I have no respect left for Cedar Fair," posts a coaster enthusiast at CoasterBuzz.com. I had to read that quote twice. Someone over at Coasterbuzz talking bad about CF? Made me think the end of the world is coming. As for this being negative for the entire chain, I doubt it. Enthusiasts make up about 10% of the total business into a park, and seeing that the only news organizations that will hear about this is Cleveland, I think KI is pretty safe.

What is Kings Island REALLY going to get?
SOB_TOM replied to familyguyfun1's topic in Coming Attractions
Wise old proverb say: "Those who know dont say, those who dont know make fools of themselves." -
A ride like that is expected to draw the on-lookers with the googly eyes. If you move it away from the midway, it wont help the situation. Something like slingshot is supposed to be that close to the midway.

First, people complain its not enough. Now you are complaining its too much!? Its Halloween for (insert diety's name of choice) sake! Its just like a haunted house, if you dont like em dont go!
-
Youre right, if it wasnt for Coney, KI wouldnt be there. Of course, you can say the same for the (almost) yearly flood. Good job on the site Rob.

Not at KI. After what happened at Beech Bend, I was uneasy, but not at KI. Ryan knows what Im talking about

I have heard things about the Alvey's, both while working at the park and not working at the park, and to be honest, I do not want to be a ride op while he is riding. No matter what he seems like NOW, it HAS been proven that he has done some things in the past that were not up to par. But if he's changed, goo on `em.
