  1. Notice how Maureen did NOT mention that the trains are definitely for SOB. She said the RUMOR on the street is that they are G trains. Then she went though and mentioned the process which is going on. But still, as much as I love Maureen, she doesnt tend to be as bad as Jeff was with twisting words. Now there was the master, and Maureen is the.............mistress?
  2. I would love to go into the subway system that Cincinnati sort of got. Its got stations around, and some tunnels, but it never opened. Thats where I would love to go.
  3. I wonder what the effect will be in that overbanked turn right next to FoF will be. Imagine that one. As for the primer, it looks like they put the majority on already while it was on the ground. If you notice, the rails on the track still have green on them, while the rest is the primer. I dont know if they can go that route with the midway. There are too many maintenance sheds in the way. One idea is to take the midway around FoF, and either installing a coaster in that valley or something, and then connecting around the other side of Racer, next to the basketball game. That would be the safest play. Speaking of that area, while I was working last year, I saw landscaping doing some major work on that hill. Looked like they were either expanding the maintenance road behind FoF or starting to fill it in a little. Just some speculation for you guys.
  4. They can still adjust how much brake hit they have on the ride. The mags are just more reliable. The only difference is how much of the brake you can see.
  5. They replace the wood on The Beast every year, so its not rotted. Plus, hasnt that ride always had brakes on it anyway?
  6. I did not mean at all that KI wont get big attractions, however I dont forsee a major coaster (record breaking) at KI. CP would be smart to leave KI as a family park, with a rotation of adult, teen, kids ride additions. So this year we get Firehawk, next year we get a medium flat, and then new kiddie rides, then something for adults. This is what will keep the interest of the entire family. Just remember, a family of four, if kept in KI for an entire day, will spend more even if they have gold passes than someone who goes to the park, buys a ticket, and eats once.
  7. Ive always like the name Son of the Wife of the Second Cousin of the Third Nephew (twice removed) of The Beast. But thats just me. Does KI need another record breaking coaster? Absolutely NOT. That is not the market KI is in anymore. Remember, KI once tried to go toe to toe with CP, and now with the same company owning both, I doubt that we get a First of its kind coaster, or definitely not a record breaking. Thats why KI is now family orientated. Its their niche in the Ohio amusement industry.
  8. Tubaman, Im an ex-tuba player, and I dont have those urges. Now if you will excuse me, the first-stage booster motors just got in, I have to go install them on my rocket ship.
  9. Tusker, SOB was a one-time failure of a support. Therefor, your ride being "bumpy" the day before had no bearing on the failure whatsoever. As for this incident: what were the employees doing riding it anyway? I know that maintenance will ride the wooden coasters in order to "warm them up" during testing. The bearings are new and are not worn in, so its slower, but for a steel, its fine. Thus, what WERE the employees doing on the ride? I guess to check out the car mechanisms, and luckily they did.
  10. Ever notice how fast you are going through the Boomerang? Also, those stairs that are there for maintenance are horrible. They are really narrow, and when you are trying to carry something up, you pretty much hang off the side. Not the ideal place to be.
  11. I thought this was spam as well. Remember with Vegas, You are in the middle of the desert, so expect colder than normal temps at night, and hotness in the day. At least thats what Ive been told.
  12. Kings Island, like any theme park/radio station/ect has a blanket liscense to play whatever they want to. So they can keep playing the same music if they want, or change it up. Doesnt matter.
  13. Youre right, I do live in Kentucky. The reason that I debate this law so hard is because it is taking away the basic freedom of Choice. Most people are overlooking this point: Before the law, non-smokers had the CHOICE to go to a smoke-free facility instead of one that accomodates smokers. Smokers had the CHOICE to go into their restaraunt of CHOICE and either smoke, or wait till they leave. Now, no one has a choice. The government has said where we can and cannot smoke, and such restricted our freedoms. Also, there is nothing stopping the Ohio government to enact a no-smoking in homes law. I didnt say that there was a law in place, I am just saying that the government can pass the law stating such, and get away with it. Did you know that it is currently illigal to smoke in your own car while a child is in the car? I will admit that smoking around children is something not to do. HOWEVER, my car is my property, and therefor private, so why can they dictate what I can and cannot do on my property? And before you even start ranting and raving "Well, does that make it right to kill on your property?" argument, you know exactly what i mean. I dont want to hear those arguments. My entire point is that the government is going above their own means by passing laws that are restricting our freedoms, and last time I checked, that was illigal by the Constitution. One more thought: When walking through downtown Cincinnati to meet my mother at work for lunch, I saw huddles of workers in alleys smoking cigarettes. It made me realize that now the smoking citizens of the state are seen as public outcasts. Thats all I got. Feel free to rip me apart, Im used to it. Realize though that your neighbor who may smoke is now an outcast from the Ohio society. Congratulations Tom-who thinks that Northern KY should be lakefront property more than ever.
  14. I think the point was that you get drunk, and you do something stupid, and someone dies because of it..... Someone is going to tell you eventually.
  15. Interpreter, Wait, someone died afterwards from watching? Flight commander and that incident were unrelated, from what I know. The only connection is that they were both drunk.
  16. Just throwing this out there: The extreme policies that were mentioned above were thought up AFTER the vote passed. Non-smokers voted yes to this law without any type of guidelines. Also, a reaction as feeling strangled or sick by cigarette smoke is NOT an allergic reaction. It is a psychological reaction. Former smokers feel it because their psyche is remembering the old days, and the media has built up a negative rap on second hand smoke so bad that non-smokers are now sickened by it. Non of these problems existed when smoking was a part of society back in 1940. And as for waking up with a cut off throat: I already do that because two big sleeping disorders run in my family: One that makes it hard for me to fall asleep, and another that causes my throat to collapse while asleep, therefor cutting off my air supply and waking me up. So yes, I have experienced those, and they are part of my life. Smoking is not going to help that at all.
  17. Air currents are a wonderful thing... I would like to pose a question though: How do extremist movements start? Some would say several radicals would get together and want something done, and do radical things to make their point. This is not how extremist movements start. They take baby steps. So by saying that prohibition was just "an extremist movement" is completely false. A speciality group got together and said "We will have no more drinking because it causes....." By misleading people by stretching the truth (Ex. Drinking any alcohol at all will kill your liver,) the movement picked up speed until there were enough people in the states against alcohol to vote "dry states" and anti-alcohol senators, who passed an amendment in our Constitution, and was ratified by 2/3 of the states, and was put into law. All of this was started by maybe 20 people who did not like alcohol. And it begins again..... The "non-smoking because it hurts others" started with a select few people, who looked at the figures of deaths by second hand smoke without looking at the circumstances, and then started to spread around the "facts" through the truth commercials. Because of this, the average American is being taken advantage of. "Well, if the TV said it, it must be true," so no one did their own homework and look up the figures on medical websites. The ones who did, looked at the truth website, who put up (for lack of better term) their figures, and were misled. Then, states started to pass smoking bans. Anything look familiar? And BTW, a quote from WebMD: "The risk is considered significant if non-smokers live in an environment where cigarette smoke is prevalent."
  18. I have been smoking since I was 18, and I see four sides of this issue. The First, and most importantly, is that Ohio voted on a bill that had no guidelines at all. In fact, it is so bad that they can easily take away the freedom of choice that I enjoy in Kentucky all the way down to no smoking in your own home. Second, I consider myself a conscious smoker. I wait to smoke in designated areas. I dont need the state to tell me where not to smoke. Third, people need to look at history. This is exactly how prohibition started. And see how that ended. If you do not think that history repeats itself, read up on the start of prohibition, and you have the current smoking ban. Fourth, This law is taking away the Freedom of Choice. I can tell you now that if I owned a business I would be very unhappy. It is not the states business to tell me (a business owner) how I choose to run my business. If I want smokers, then I will allow smokers. Lets turn this around for a second. Non-smokers, do you have the choice to go to Applebee's, where it is a non-smoking establishment, or go to a bar that allows smoking? Yes you do. Now, imagine this: It is a law to allow smoking in all public places. How would you feel? And about the argument that it is unhealthy. For the smoker, I can buy it. HOWEVER, if you are not around smoke constantly (I.E. mom or dad smokes in the house,) you are in no danger. The current commercials about second hand smoke do apply, however in mass. Walking through a cloud of smoke is not going to kill you, or even shave time off your life. If it is so unhealthy to have such pollutants in the air, let us compare smoking to car exhaust. I would definitely say that car exhaust is a lot more toxic and unhealthy for you than cigarette smoke. So does this mean that we should ban driving due to the exhaust making people sick? Lets start attacking the true problems, not the petty ones that are brought on by special interests groups. Tom- who's mom never raised as a quitter.
  19. Thats correct. The drunk didnt get hurt at all because he never touched bottom.
  20. Actually, the way I think of it is that if there is still an energy in the house, then the house will survive. An example is look at all the haunted places. For some odd reason, they are still standing. Maybe not as well as when someone was living in the house, but a lot better than a regular house that is unoccupied. Ty, dreams can be very insightful. Its your subconscience trying to talk to your conscience self. One way to determine what your dreams mean (and dont go buy a book, the symbols mean something different for everyone) is to start whats call a dream journal. The trick is to wake up, and if you have a dream, write down every detail that you can remember. If you cant remember, dont worry, but the more accurate you are, then the better clarity you can get. Then you can start to figure out what the symbols mean by two means: figuring it out on your own, or seeing what happens that day and keeping in mind your dream, match up the symbols. At first its hard, but it can actually help in the long run. Anyone else loving the supernatural chat we are having? Its not often that I get to have such spirited chats about the supernatural without at least one person ripping on me.
  21. RailRider, thats a stretch. A very BIG stretch.
  22. No, Geauga Lake has other problems. Like downsizing instead of building.
  23. But there still is a certain energy that people will generate on a given day. And a house is a perfect place for that energy to gather, and once that energy starts to decay, then the house starts to fall apart. Or at least thats what I believe.
  24. The problem with any type of used ride or train is how long will they last? And there is a big jump from just having corporate look at them (and they will look at the outside) and maintenance looking "under the hood" as it were.
