It would depend on how deep the footings are. Depending on the load they had to support, they would have to be at about 3 to 4 feet deep at a minimum of what code required to take in account the frost level. I would imagine it would be some sort of a hydraulic device that would grab on to it that is attached to a bobcat of some sort.

What happened to Drachen Fire?
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to thunderbeast1968's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The Chevy Vega was my first car and it was a doozy! First thing out of the lot the steering wheel cover came loose and the air vent lever pulled off! Yep, one heck of a car that soon found a lucky owner! -
KI Seeks Applications For Seasonal Jobs
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Admissions is a great place to work at. You will be involved in scanning tickets at the front gate, collecting parking tolls, processing season passes and selling admission tickets and season passes. If you love working outside and don't want to be tied down to one area all day, choose sweeps in ecology. Plus it pays more than any other area in the park. My very first job working at Kings Island in 1972 was as a "litter getter" as we were called back then. -
KI Seeks Applications For Seasonal Jobs
KI-ORIG-EMP replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I worked in Guest Services/Admissions and a 16 year old can work in admissions but must be 18 for Guest Services. They can work in foods, merchandise, ecology, games, rides (some restrictions), admissions just to name some. I am sure the jobs link will be fixed soon but you can still apply by clicking on the link to Online Application. They will list your job preferences for you to choose from. You will select your first, second and third choice and jobs you will not want to work if any. -

Click on "apply online now" and it will take you into the registration section and apply. I already completed my application for the 2013 season, which will be my 19th. -
Pee Wee Valley was a very small kiddie land amusement park that closed during the 60's. It was on Reading Road, just north of Reading, Ohio and now there is a trailer park of some sort in its old location. I remember riding in one of those hand cranked carts that ran around a oval course. It was no larger than a small carnival with kiddie rides. My parents would travel down Reading Road to visit my grand mother over in Winton Terrace and we would stop there at times on the way home to Kings Mills.

The original poster ask if he would be able to rent a hotel room if he was under 21 years of age and I answered it with my opinion and feelings. This age requirement would be a state issue and not a federal issue. If the state wanted to pass a law that would require them to rent to a person that is 18 years as long as they met the credit requirements, they are free to do so without the feds getting involved. When I searched on the internet on this topic, the main concern of all involved was could they rent a room if they were under 21. I just don't think hotel chains can refuse to rent to 18 year olds just because it is their policy. I guess if you are on your honeymoon and you and your wife are 19 years old, and want to stay at a hotel, you better check ahead of time.

I went to Kings and Mason was our arch rival and I might have negative feelings towards Mason but I would never voice it out loud while working at the park. If the employee did curse at you, I would had reported them.

It is my firm belief that it should be a state law that hotel/motel chains rent to people 18 years of age. At that age, the state considers them an adult in all aspects except to have a drink, which I also believe must also be changed back to 18. At that age, you can enter into contracts, join the armed services without parental approval, be convicted of criminal acts as an adult for ALL crimes and sent to an adult prison. The state of Ohio used to have the drinking age to purchase and consume beer at the age of 18 and purchase and drink hard liquor at the age of 21. The US government forced the states to change the drinking age to 21 or risk loosing highway funds. The reasoning was the youth were too young and immature and would drink and drive. There are laws on the books to handle people that drink and drive. The reason I continue to bring up the subject of people in the armed services is they should be able to have a drink at the tender young age of 18 is because there are thousands of young soldiers that gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy that would not be able to have a drink if they walked into a bar asking for a beer. It is the same way when wanting to rent a hotel room. Just because we now have an all volunteer armed forces does not mean they should not be able to rent a room. The law should be that all people that are 18 years of age should be able to have a drink and rent room or car. All people at that age should be able to do this as long as they meet the credit requirements to rent said room or car. Otherwise, the age should be changed back to 21 as it used to be in all aspects. This law should be changed and company policy should not come into play because they feel they are not mature enough to rent a room. Either you are an adult at the age of 18 with all the benefits and responsibilities or you are not. This is my firm belief and you should be considered as an adult in all aspects at the age of 18.

I keep hearing it is a rule of this mote/hotel chain that they must be 21 years of age to rent a room. I also hear it is to ensure they are mature both mentally and financially. The legal age of entering into contracts for people is 18 years of age. At that age, they can apply and receive credit card or a loan as long as the meet the required credit requirements. If the law in Ohio states adults 18 years of age can rent a room, the motel/hotel chain's policy of requiring them be 21 years of age is in conflict. The only age requirement that I could find relates to serving beer, wine or liquor to people under 21 years of age. The hotel/motel chains require a credit card with enough line of credit to cover their required credit hold or a cash deposit. When I worked at the Holiday Inn Northeast in the late 70's, we rented to guests between 18 and 20 years of age with no problem. If it is the law, it should be change to permitting people of legal contract age (18) to rent a room as long as they have a valid credit card in their name to cover the credit hold or a cash deposit. As I had said in an earlier post, if a soldier is home on leave and is between 18 and 20, they should be allowed to rent a room. If not, then it is ok for them to go to a combat zone but not of age to rent a room according to state law. I am going to call or email the state and ask them about this and also ask my friends at the local VFW and American Legion about this. Also check with some people that I know that works in the hospitality area.

I believe the law governing beer and liquor sales to people 21 years and older should be changed back to 18 for beer. The reason it was changed is states like Ohio were blackmailed by the US government to change it to 21 years for all or you will loose your transportation funds. We even had a vote on it and it won. You are an adult in all aspects at 18 except to not be permitted to have a drink. You are required to register for the draft and when you serve in the armed forces you might be sent into a combat zone and might give your life. You can enter into a legal contract to buy things on credit including cars and a house, among other things. There already laws on the book for drunk driving and keep enforcing those laws. This should apply to renting a rom in a motel/hotel to people 18 or older. If they don't want to change it, then they should raise the age to 21 to enter into contracts and such.
-
The reasons the states were forced to raise the drinking age to 21 was the US government was going to withhold transportation funds if they did not agree to raise the age. In Ohio, you could buy beer at 18 but had to be 21 to buy hard liquor. At the age of 18, you must register for the draft, enter into legal contracts and do everything an adult can do except have a drink. I dare a hotel or a bar to refuse service to a soldier that is under 21 years of age that has lost a limb. I am not sure if the hotel chain is following company policy but is it following Ohio and or US law? When I was going through basic training at Fort Jackson in 1974, the Army had no problem in serving us beer on base when I was only 19 years old. Even after some states passed the 21 year old rule, a person on base could still buy a beer under the age of 21 years. Bottom line is you are an adult at 18 years of age in the eye of the government and should be treated as such.
-
In my own opinion, it is a bunch of bunk if it is indeed true. Ohio considers you an adult in every aspect except when it comes to having a beer to drink. So if a soldier comes home on leave and is 19 years old, he or she will be denied a room because they are under age? But it is ok for members of the armed services ti die for their country at that age but not get a hotel room? I want to see this in writing and if it is true, it should be revoked for the above reasons.

I used to go to Fantasy Farm all the time. I remember the huge slide in the barn and the turnpike. I loved to ride the miniature roller coaster but I always dreamed of going next door to ride that BIG roller coaster! I loved to pet all the farm animals that they had but loved the little floppy ear goat the best.

When I was a little kid, growing up in the late 50's and early 60's, my parents use to take my sister and me to a small kiddie amusement park named Pee Wee Valley, located on Reading Road, in between Evendale and Reading, Ohio. Do any of the older people remember this small park? The park was torn down and nothing remains of it. There is some sort of a trailer park in the same location where it used to be. I tried searching for it on Google and was able to find the following link that has a forum where people discussed former parks, including Pee Wee Valley. http://www.city-data...k-memories.html

Skype....do you share or not? (Cam on k)

If any body sends you a PM or an email suggesting anything sexual and want to meet or video chat or anything weird like that, expect them to be a male or they are a minor female. You do not accept any phone calls from any person that you do not know who requests anything other than a legit, business reason, hang up. Do not accept any PM from people you do not know and refuse any email with a file attachment. Watch out back from anybody on FB or any other social web sites that act in unacceptable manner. There are way to many crazy people out there that are up to no good. -

That happen on AOL in the early 90's. AOL was very liberal with users sending adult's sharing adult files back and forth. I did not get involved in it but did not stop people from sending me those obscene files. I got fed up with it and told AOL I was quitting but they kept on giving me access without paying. I just stopped logging on any more. -
If you want it to retain some value, I would reconsider cleaning it. People that have antique firearms make this same mistake and clean it, thinking it would enhance its value. But when they have it appraised, the appraiser would tell them this is a huge mistake. The wear and tear shows it was well used for the purpose it was designed for. I think it would retain its value if left in its original condition. But then again, I could be wrong. Best bet would be to ask an expert if it would retain or not retain its value if cleaned.

I have not had this happen to me on this site, but I have had it happen on other sites in the past. Back in the 90's, I was on AOL and with them, you had your master account with user name and 5 additional user names. I had some users with female sounding names send me email and send me nude pictures of themselves, or so they say and ask if I could do like wise. I would delete them and email them to stop. I would report them if they did it again. I had someone send me chid porn and that made me very mad! I wrote them a nasty email and reported them. They want you to get on chat and most likely, they were males pretending to be women and children. This was during the days when you needed a camera and software like Cuseeme. There were web sites that used this image software for people to video chat with each other. You did not know who these people were asking to chat and once they had your email address, bombard you with porn or worse, child porn. Other sites had chat sites like this, including Yahoo and Google. These people continue to do this and try to find the right person and have them meet them and who knows what they have planned. If they were to send you child porn, report them to the police. If you ever take your computer to be repaired, the repair service might discover it and report it to the police, where they will pay you a visit. Report these people and do not agree to video chat with any one and do not give out your email address. Always use a throw away email address that you can delete if it gets out. Set your email or other accounts to block these users by name and IP address. -
The lady next door to me got something wrapped in brown paper and it seemed to had made her happy.

The USS Arizona has over a thousand souls still as their final resting place and is a lasting memorial to their ultimate sacrifice. The roller coaster has the potential of breaking up from the violent waves and pose a hazard to boats and ships as it is carried away. Small boats can collide it as the pieces of steel are hidden beneath the waves. It will be up to the US Coast Guard to make the final decision as to its fate.

My first roller coaster was The Shooting Star at Coney Island in 1967. My sister just came home from basic training in the army and we went down to Coney to have fun.

No, I do not design roller coasters and do not engage in any roller coaster simulation on the computer. I have been into model trains but would try to put a layout on paper on how I would like it to look like before did it for real. I have drawn how the layout of my rooms would look in a rough outline and then use a home design program to lay out the room according to scale and know what I need to do it or how things will look like. I just think the same way a ride designer might do it. Put it in a rough drawing before using a CAD program to design it. I am old school when it comes to putting things, on paper, just like I would write my computer code by hand, first starting with my flow chart, design layout and then write the code.

I tried to use the quote function and when I wrote my reply and clicked enter, it gave an error message of "quoted text to short" and would not post. So I copied it and pasted it in. Your reply came through as if my position working in the pet care was I somehow over heard future ride plans as being how I knew instead of my just stating my opinion, just like al others have. But I say time will be the indicator if the park decides to incorporate the old station into any future designs and if not, will it interfere with anything else. I think designs will be made once everything will be removed from the old SOB site and surveys can be conducted. Any designs now would only be what something might look like on paper and not actual design drawings.

Look, I have stated my opinion on any new ride that might be made. It is no different than the roller coaster experts here that have voiced their opinion on this board regarding what might or not replace SOB. If you can not read into my message it is my opinion and not any one else like ice cream server guys, people in suits, ride ops or any one else, don't state that I have somehow been informed of any ride expansions because I work there. If you go back a few years, you will see how roller coaster fans have stated their opinion on hat new ride Cedar Fair will put in. Then after Firehawk, the threads began on a new coaster again, we got Diamondback. Now we have the same thing and with SOB being torn down, the predictions on what new expansion will take its place. Some want a wooden coaster while some want a steel coaster. Just as some have been opining what to do with the area with maps outlining what they think it has room for. Now if you think I have said they told me about their designs, then please point it out to me. I am no different than the KIC user that voices their opinion about any new future ride. If you can find where I have stated I heard it from this person, from these people walking around in suits, or the ice cream serving guy or any upper management type, then please point it out. Until then, please refer to my message that stated, "IN MY OPINION." I, like others here have an opinion on any new ride in that area.
