Wow. I would have to say the First Drop article is almost right on still. Even the talk about the terrain and the valleys used for the first drops. Would put lots of money on that reliable source.

Went to Coastermania this year and the belt issue was a non-issue. I have had troubles in past but not this year.
They would even help out on MF and TTD which they would not do in past. And the issue of the orange seciton that
must be showing seemed to be gone as well. It was click, slight pull, bar down and go.

Anyone know if KI would consider starting a new area of the park? Open up some land in the old safari area or is that area off limits? It would be nice to see them expand a little bit. As I have said in past, I would love to see a Lost KI area like the Lost Kennywood area. Put in some regened flats from the past and such.......

When do you think they will arrive and do setup and testing and such?
I imagine that they will be setting up days in advance, especially if they
are putting up grandstands and such.

The big question is where will this jump be done. Is it going to be done (my assumption) in the parking lot like his dad did. And if so, imagine how much of the parking lot will be used up just for this event. The parking situation is hopfully being addressed for this. I would like to see this. Does anyone know what time it might be done? Has KI or the Kenevil camp released any info?

I haven't chewed anyone out! and I tried going through the proper channels, but you get a pre-scripted response when you call relations. Did you hear about the toddler yesterday that was run over by her neighbor? Not far from what is going on at Kings Island. This is an accident waiting to happen. Why wait for the outcome when it can be corrected now?
Yeah, I was getting riffed for complaining here too. I did email KI and amazingly got a response back that same day from Don. I really wish they would let gold/handicap parking just shoot to the right and go the 50 feet to the spots not 500 feet and create more havok. Here is his response.
Thank you for contacting us with your question regarding parking at Kings Island. Safety has been, is now and will always be our top priority. As a result, to avoid conflict between pedestrians and vehicles, we direct vehicles entering the parking lot in a way that is the safest for our guests. In addition, we are providing a service to our guests in the morning by parking them in the spots that are closest to the Front Gate. We are constantly reviewing all aspects of our operation, including parking, and have been discussing ways to improve the access into the Gold Pass and Handicapped parking areas. Please contact me should you have any questions.Sincerely,

BTW, I have contacted KI guest relations about this and offered suggestions with my complaints..... :-)
-
Now did that work better than just making a complaint at guest relations?
Not saying we are better than others just that LOTS complain about the silliness of how they do parking routes early in the day. There was an opening and we took it. It even appeared to be that way as the car in front of us did the same. So lighten up kids....
But as you see in a previous post, someone wanted to park in gold and could not figure it out. So why not make it easier to park and quit being so cutesy at opening.
-
Same goes for handicap parking. We came in last year one time and were cutting through an opening with another handicap driver car in front of us. We cut through an opening in the cones and both of us got chased down by a security biker and yelled at for cutting through. We chewed him out big time and said what a waste of gas, time and life it is to drive to the far end of the park to just come all the way back to the handicap zone. He seemed miffed and we were on our way. It is really stupid how they do the parking route early in the day. Not sure for the reason of the the bizarre routes but they really need to get over it and also let gold parkers and handicaps get right to the spots.

Yeah, if it really is for nostalgia, why not make a new park area called "Lost Coney" like Kennywood. Bring back the Whip, Tumblebug, Eagles, Kangaroo, Rotor or Revolution like at Holiday World, and some Tilt-a-whirls. I know many who would flock the park for a section like that.

And it appears the GP loved the backwards side. I would say 9 out of 10 times I got in line for The Racer, the backwards line was 3 - 4 times as long as frontwards. So I think if the GP is polled, they would say keep it. But hopefully it is a safety issue and that I can live with......

Does anyone know a link to or where I can find the tv commercials for Sonny?
I loved the one with the baby stroller and would like to find it and any others.

I believe that is the day I went as well. When we went through the gate we got a free ticket to return on another day.
The only time I ever remember that happening.
-
I plan on going on opening day to KI. I am just wondering however, where do we meet this year for the ACE walkbacks?
What is the procedure this year?
-
I was the one at SOAR who asked the question about forwards or backwards. From what I hear, KD is only running one side (forwards) so far.
But I thought I read a TR that said someone saw the other car (backwards) on a transfer track.

I got the one from Top Thrill Dragster. Now hanging in my basement....

It is an interesting change. First was done back when The Bat was breaking down and I assumed it was done to distract the public eye away from that. I also like the experience and find it nice to get a choice. Sort of like the shot ride at CP. You can ride Up or Down. Same ride, they just let you decide which way to enjoy it. If it is due to public outcry I am surprised. Every time I rode The Racer, the backwards line was at least 4 - 5 times more crowded. I would say from my viewpoint, the GP loved it that way.
-
While riding with my son a couple years back, we DID have/see a deer inside the track of Racer. I just kept hoping by the return trip he was gone. Lucky for us, we did not see him on the trip out. Guess he jumped in and then got scared and jumped out..... :-)

Well I have thought for years they need to add a new section to KI, "Lost Coney". This could include old rides brought back. A Tumble Bug, Whip, Flying Shoes (Dutchman), and how about building the plans from the Shooting Star. How about the Barrels (my friend could make anyone sick on these). And a version of the Lost River. I used to think this ride had a vertical drop as a kid. I really think this could draw a lot more families to a park with an area like this. Well I guess for now to enjoy this we just continue our trips up to Kennywood. Hey, while at it, why not build another Noah's Ark?

I know this has been harped on time and time again, but Kings Island really needs some non wild adult rides, one of my favorite things about Cedar Point is taking a break from the wild rides and relaxing on things like the sky ride, or antique cars or the ferris wheel or paddle wheel excursion, or the train (ki train to me has never been the same since it became a transport to the waterpark), Lots of great thrill rides, but I would like to see more leisure rides
Yea the train used to be a lot different as I remember. They actually had like a story to go along as you rode the train I think. Im pretty sure they had like indians and stuff running around haha. Maybe I am wrong... I was pretty young, now its just a ride to the water park. I am sure a lot of people would like it to be like the old way even though I personally dont care.
Yeah this is why I think Americana (Ferris Wheel) from GL would have been a good addition.

Has anyone seen/taken any aerial photos of the park since they closed?
Looking for eye in the sky photos to see what/where they are doing.
-
Does anyone know if KI will get the Americana from GL or any other flats from there for 2008?

My friend is a real spinner on the kegs. I would sit and watch him ride with others on a barrel and he could spin it so you could not see straight.....
Anyone remember what they did at the end of the canoe ride? Put up your paddle if you had a good time. Then the water would run out and soak you and they would say that anyone who is wet just had a good time.....
Will This Be Seen Again?

Well that area on the platform of The Beast (little box area) used to be the DJ area back in the 80's.
So with the retro thing in play, why not bring it back for the night time runs?
