  1. ^How would that make a difference. I can see how only one train running would reduce the wear and tear on the track, but what does that have to do with whether or not its been raining?
  2. I went last summer, and I loved everything I did. I rode every roller coaster and lover each one. Storm Runner would be the mini-dragster, but its much more than that. Its an actual roller coaster after the initial launch and hill. Farenheit is the new coaster for 08 which opens tomorrow. As far as guides go, I don't know of any. rcdb.com is always a good resource for coaster pics and stats, but other than that, I don't know of anything. Lightning racer is an excellent ride. I only got to ride it twice, but I enjoyed both rides very much. I really have nothing bad to say about the park.
  3. I don't remember much about my first trip to KI. I was around 6 or 7 and very tall for my age. I rode The Beast, Vortex, and Racer, but I have no idea which order I rode them in. I hated them all, but it was more of a love hate relationship. I'm glad I rode them though.
  4. Those restraints made my rides very unenjoyable. There was an incredible amount of headbanging the entire ride everytime I rode it. I'm am very glad they made the switch over to the lap bars. EDIT: Like he said^
  5. On the new ladder game back drop, I wonder what the yellow coaster is suppose to be. I guess you could say its suppose to be Invertigo, but it looks like a normal inverted roller coaster to me. Foreshadowing?
  6. I didn't notice any holes in the track. Seriously...I enjoyed the ride much more this year. I rode both sides and they have improved significantly. There is still the occasional bump that doesn't feel very good, but its better than previous years, and its a wooden roller coaster, you kind of have to expect that.
  7. That may have been me. I actually said that to one of my friends one time. They asked, so I answered.
  8. Like stated before, it would make perfect sence to finish the work before staining. To add something...I noticed on one of the "Did you know?" signs around the park that it takes 4,000 gallons of stain to cover The Beast. Could this be general knowledge to the maintainance crew, or do you think they might have just bought 4,000 gallons of stain to re-stain The Beast, and thought that it would be a fun fact to post in the park.
  9. I went ahead and paid the 10 bucks at the gate. Then I went to Guest Relations and got my 10 bucks back no problem. I didn't know that you could scan the voucher.
  10. I had a great day at opening day. It was my first opening day, so it was kinda special. I hit every roller coaster at least once. I took a trip on the train for the first time since I can remember to see the construction back in the woods. All the ride opps were very friendly and efficient. I got to talking about the rumored coaster with a very nice man right outside the crypt. It was a very good day all around for me. I only have two complaints. There seemed to be a lot of smoking outside of the smoking areas. While I was standing in line for the Slingshot, A group of people were smoking right behind us. I mentioned this to the lady standing by the gate and she did nothing. She didn't even give me a response. She just shrugged it off without a word. I know she has a job to do in making sure the ride is running safely, but an aknowledgement would have been nice. And secondly, the food at Outer Hanks was much worse than last year. The food was cold and the portions were smaller than I remember. I got two pices of fried batter with some fish inside 4 shrimp, and a basket of fries. Outside of those 2 complaints, I had an excellent day and I can't wait to go back.

    The Crypt

I did. Closing day of the first season it was open. It was around 45 degrees outside and I had to walk around with a wet shirt for the rest of the day.
  12. Silver Dollar City tops as my worst experience in a park. We rode 2 roller coasters once each before everything shut down because of rain. I was with my school group, so we left early and went to a mall instead. I really enjoyed the 2 rides and I'm sure that it would have been an excellent trip if it didn't rain all day. The worst park I've been to in terms of the park, and not just the circumstances is Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. The only ride there that is somewhat enjoyable in my book would have to be Chang. T2 is just terrible, and their woodies hurt me worse than Son of Beast. I like my wood coasters rough, but they were just ridiculous. The food was terrible, and I didn't see one employee that appeared to care about anything all day. I doubt that I will make my way down there again any time soon.
  13. I will be there on opening day. My sister asked for a ride for the after prom Kings Island trip. Naturally, I said yes.
  14. You also get the perks for any Cedar Fair park you visit.
  15. They came to Purdue back in the fall. I talked with both of the representatives and was told that they were only looking for Juniors and Seniors. I will most likely try to apply when that time comes. It seems to me like an excellent way to spend my summer. Getting paid to stay in Florida and work for Disney sounds like a lot of fun. And then theres always the chance that you do good enough that they want to keep you there permamently when you graduate. Does anyone know if KI or Cedar Fair in general does something like this?
  16. Trailblazer at Hershey Park. I rode that thing as many times as my parents would let me that day. I got to go back and experience it again this past summer. It was a little different than I remember. It used to be a lot bigger.
  17. According to what we were told at ACE Winter SOAR, you get all gold pass perks at all CF parks. I thought it was only the free parking that applied for all parks. Thanks for correcting me on that.
  18. If you buy your platinum pass from Kings Island, its considered a gold pass. Same for all the other Cedar Fair parks. You get the perks at the park that you purchase the pass from.
  19. ^Last year at CP my friends and I started a lunch time ritual. Whenever we got hungry for lunch, we rode Maverick and walked right into the Chik-fil-A right there at the exit. Two great things right next to each other.

    Vortex

For some reason the words "Flight Commander" and "Drop Zone" come to mind... PS Monroe, I'm sure nobody is going to argue that the restraints on a flying coaster are there to keep you in however you cannot make the statement that EVERY coaster that goes upside down requires restraints to keep riders in their seats. Given competent riders, there are many coasters that would be just fine without restraints holding riders in. I have a very old video of King Kobra at KD when it was new without restraints and people riding it. Before it launched the operator would explain that the centripetal force would keep the riders in. Many of Anton Schwarzkopf's coasters (that went upside down) never had restraints and operated just fine. I don’t know when the last time you took a physics class was, but I've taken three in the last 2 years, not to mention statics, dynamics, strengths of materials, thermodynamics, and mechanics of materials, and had countless discussions with many people about roller coaster physics. http://rcdb.com/ig637.htm?picture=5 ^The people in this picture are not wearing restraints^ http://rcdb.com/ig637.htm?picture=2 ^Nobody is falling out in this picture^ He was using that to point out the fact that you need restraints to hold you in on most coasters. He said nothing about EVERY looping coaster. There are many coasters that don't loop that need restraints to keep you in, and there are some looping coasters that needrestraints too. A few examples come to mind, MF, TTD. The first loop and immelman on Mantis would concern me if there were no restraints. If at all posible, I would like to see this video. Are all the restraints off or just no OTSR's? EDIT: Sorry...thinking of KI King Cobra. That makes sence to me.
  21. I only made it 4 times. I live in Indy and I was preparing for college/working/going to CP. I made 2 trips to CP for a grand total of 4 days as well. This year will probably be even fewer. I have one KI trip scheduled for opening weekend. HS prom trip w/ Girlfriend. And a possibility for a 5 day CP trip opening week. After that its going to be work for school money. I might get one or two in, but thats it.
  22. I was told that The Beast was the fastest roller coaster in the park. I asked him how it can be faster than SOB when SOB is taller. He then tried to tell me that SOB was MUCH shorter than The Beast. He went on about how the woods make it feel shorter. I just chuckled and walked away. Edit: and of course the fact that my friend's sister's ex boyfriend saw someone fall off Vortex right after the MCBR. Ridiculous
  23. I didn't know that it was a movie name until I started reading here. I just figured it was a good name for a gyro drop. I'm really glad it gets to keep its name. I never added "stunt tower"(I think thats what it was) when I refered to it. I don't know anyone that did. Most people probably won't even notice that it's name changed. It will probably take many people years to realize that any of the names changed.
  24. I remember when I was around five seeing the air planes in line. That just made the wait for Top Gun bearable. It used to take forever...maybe thats cause I was little. I was never able to walk through underneath, I was born too late. I would LOVE for CF to go against their previous record of theming and bring that and the planes back. Does anyone know what happened to them. Did they just get neglected so long that they just took them down. And why leave the job half done? Atleast take the supports down and finish the job. On the painting TG subject, I believe that it needs new paint not only for the aesthetic purposes, but wouldn't re-painting make the ride smoother if its done right? The only thing I have to base this off is that Millenium Force seems to get less smooth every year and the only reason I can think of is its lack of paint in some places. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I all alone here?
