  1. The chances for it being a giga are good, until they announce it's not a giga. As someone else said, the evidence is increasingly against a giga, but it still can't be ruled out completely. I think the most confusing hint for me so far has been the allusion that the ride will go round and round. (I've read that several times now.) I understand the up and down part, but....how is it going to go round and round? Will it be a spinning coaster? Perhaps a 4D coaster with cars that turn you forward or backward? I'm lost. I saw that a couple of weeks ago. The picture is so small it's hard to say if it's legit or not, though I highly doubt it. I tried everything I could to zoom in and make it clearer, but it only made it too blurry. There appears to be an outline of a partial layout, but it's just too faint to make out. The only thing that's kinda sharp is the partial layout of Adventure Express. Based on the faint outline showing in the construction zone, it appears as though the lifthill heads toward AE, and then curves to the right where it might be assumed to drop and then go into an Immelman/dive loop, or overbanked curve, before heading out toward the valley (presumably under the lifthill.) Then again, it could be the wrinkles in the paper which make it look like that. My guess is that it's just a drawing of his own interpretation based on the locations of the current footers which are in place.
  2. You all have a good day. I need to get out of here before I bite my tongue in half.
  3. A giga is nothing like a hyper IMO... Gigas are on another level with their speed..DB and a giga could coexist very well because one was made for air time and the other would be made for speed, an invert on the other hand can only be ridden once or twice in a day before the average person will have a severe headache, KI already has an invert within a rock throw of this new coaster so IMO that does not make sense Yeah, but KI also had a hyper "within a rock throw" of Diamondback, too. It's called Magnum. And...CP already has MF. So what's your point? I'm getting a tad annoyed with all this talk about how KI doesn't need an invert because one already exists at Cedar Point. If we go by that logic, KI wouldn't be getting much of ANYTHING, except maybe a floorless or dive coaster, because CP already has everything else.
  4. Thats where all URL requests point to that dont have a specified page assigned to them. Its the 404 Error redirect. Oh really? I thought maybe it was just a redirect until the coaster page comes online. Okay....never mind.
  5. Regarding how we refer to the types of coasters, I think I have the definitive answer to the problem. We have to look at it from the POV of an average KI visitor. After they enter the park and grab a funnel cake, they try to figure out which coaster to go on first. This is how they refer to them: Vortex - the big steel loopy coaster at the back of the park Beast - the scary wooden coaster that disappears in the woods Diamondback - that really tall steel coaster BLSC - that fun Mini Cooper coaster next to Eiffel Tower Flying Ace - the kiddie coaster where you hang under the track Woodstock Express - the little kiddie wood coaster Invertigo - the one where you sit under the track and go upside down, then stop and do it backwards Flight Deck - the swinging coaster Project 2014 - the big steel coaster where SOB used to be, where you sit underneath and go fast upside down and through curves a lot (making assumptions here) Adventure Express - the fun mine train with the tunnels Racer - the big white twin coaster Flight of Fear - the coaster where you go upside down inside the building Firehawk - the one where you lie on your back going up the hill, then flip over and it's like a bird flying BTW....not sure if this is relevant or not, but when you type in www.visitkingsisland.com/Banshee, it takes you straight to the KI home page.
  6. I think if you asked most people if they could have a ride like Millennium Force or like Raptor, they would pick Millennium. If you asked the GP if they wanted a zero-G roll or dive loop, they'd probably look at you like you are crazy. They don't know what that means. Obviously the GP at Canada's Wonderland doesn't notice that Behemoth and Leviathan are similar. Pretty sure I responded to this point in my subsequent post, where I stood corrected. It would really help if you'd read ALL posts first before firing off a reply. Thanks! Suffice it to say, I agree and disagree. We'll have to leave it at that. It's just an opinion. I'm starting to be like you. I think I'm getting to the point where I'd rather just sit back and wait for the announcement.
  7. Why couldn't an inverted coaster be a hyper? Lets think outside the box. That's what we're all here doing. An inverted coaster could be a hyper if it had no inversions. A "hyper" is a coaster without inversions with a height between 200 and 299 feet. Period. But didn't people refer to SOB as a hyper when it opened?
  8. I started out wanting an intamin giga, then B&M giga. Now I want a hyper invert with at least 7 invertions. http://www.coasterforce.com/coasters/coaster-types/steel-coasters/hyper-coaster Hypers, by definition, do not have inversions. Ok..so it's impossible to do? It couldn't be a first? It's not impossible. He's just saying an invert is never referred to as a hyper, regardless of height. (At least it hasn't been yet.) Obviously a full-circuit invert can be over 200'. It just hasn't been done yet. As for whether they call it a hyper invert or inverted hyper, I have no idea.
  9. I was trying to ignore that fact.
  10. I'm desperately wanting to be nice right now, but nevertheless this is bubbling up inside me and I just gotta say it: What kind of cheese would you like with your whine, YoungStud?
  11. No, I wouldn't call it dumb. Actually, the first time I ever saw that commercial I wondered why they were showing a full-circuit invert when KI doesn't have one. Yet.
  12. I'm laughing right now because I have this image in my head of an invert train shaped like a roulette wheel spinning around as it goes down the first hill and into a vertical loop.
  13. Honestly, I think if you took a poll of the average KI visitor, they'd look at the words "giga" and "invert" and say, "What the heck does that mean?" I believe the average KI visitor just wants to ride a ride. Doesn't matter if it's an invert, giga, sit down, floorless, flying, 4D, ect. All this talk of what Kings Island "needs", I don't think the average visitor thinks about what the park "needs". If it's a new B&M coaster or Intamin, they will line up in droves to ride it because it's new. Hmmm...well, I agree and disagree. You're right the average KI visitor probably wouldn't know the difference between an invert and giga. Thank you - I stand corrected on that point. But I think if you showed them pictures, or models, of each one and asked which they'd prefer to see at KI, they'd pick the invert because it looks more fun and different than anything else currently at the park. Anyway, I'm not sure if this has been discussed lately, but I saw something on another coaster website in reference to Kings Island dethroning a "mountain spirit" in 2014. Alpengeist literally means "Alps spirit", or more generally "mountain spirit", and Alpengeist currently reigns as the tallest invert. Could the hint mean Alpengeist will lose its title as tallest invert? I'm just going on this being a hint, and not something legitimate. I have no idea where the hint originated.
  14. And you know this how? The same way you know where that station, storage shed, and transfer track are for sure How else do you explain the location of the grid pattern of footers in the construction zone? B&M builds whatever Kings Island wants. Just because they built a giga somewhere doesn't automatically mean that KI's will be a giga. And to your remarks on the last invert being built in '06, there have been a few built in the last few years, heck, OzIris was new this year. Also realize most US parks by 2006 already had a B&M or Vekoma inverted coaster. Kings Island does not. Also, a B&M inverted coaster rides very differently from Invertigo, Flight Deck and Firehawk, not to mention it'd be a nice line chewer, something Kings Island needs, particularly in Action Zone where most ride lines can get pretty long. Just because ki lacks an invert doesnt mean they want/need an invert I think if you were to take a poll of the average KI visitor, and ask them if they wanted a giga or an invert, they'd probably say they wanted an invert. Why? Because in their minds, a giga is simply a larger version of what we already have in Diamondback. On the other hand, aside from Valleyfair, Kings Island is one of the only major parks in the CF chain which doesn't have a coaster with a zero-G or Immelman/dive loop. I think KI's largest demographic would rather have something unique right now instead of a larger version of something they got 4 years ago.
  15. Kudos to Silver2005 for helping to explain. I want to reiterate something that another member posted way back in the discussion (I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the member, but I give him the credit for saying it): Usually when a coaster train departs from the station, it does not pass through the transfer track or storage shed area on its way to the lifthill. If you consider the positioning of the footers, it's clear where the storage shed and transfer track will be. It's conceivably possible the station could lie on the other side of the storage shed, closer to the old SOB station, but that leaves you with an extremely sharp curve going into the final brake run after the parallel rectangular footers which have been built. That seems very unlikely. So the general consensus is that those parallel rectangular footers are at the base of the lift hill for an invert. So you're saying the only think B&M builds these days is a giga coaster? I'd be interesting in hearing B&M's reaction to your opinion. How do you explain the invert (OzIris) which was built the same year Leviathan was built? What about the 1 floorless coaster, and 3 wing coasters that have been built, or are in the process of being built, in the past year? A coaster manufacturer builds what the customer orders. It doesn't abandon all former coaster types because it has now started building a new type. Also, it has been said already by several other people....the predominant reason an invert hasn't been built in the U.S. in recent years is because pretty much all major parks already have one, and have had one for quite a while. Kings Island doesn't have a full-circuit invert, which is something it really needs more than a giga coaster right now.
  16. What's the evidence against a B&M Giga? Based on the footers, it's already been 100% confirmed to be a B&M, Oumit said that there wouldn't be any new Wing Riders this year. So that leaves with only a few options of coaster types. And I see it MUCH more likely to be a Giga vs an Invert. Then enlighten me of great LordSkippy. Because I'm still convinced this will be a B&M Giga. Since you're convinced it will be a B&M Giga, share with us the evidence which convinces you. Have you read through every page of this thread? Those of us who have been here for a while have. If you read each post, you will understand why we believe it will not be a giga. My evidence is history. I have said it before, this is 100% a B&M, which leaves us with a few options for coasters. Wing Rider- I could easily see it being this, but with what Ouimet said, I'm doubtful. Invert- The last new Invert made in the US was in 2006, they're not gimmicky enough anymore for parks to build them IMO. I really DOUBT it would be this. The park already has Flight Deck, the kiddie SLC, and Invertigo. Stand Up- ...No. Floorless- Same reason as an Invert, I doubt it. Dive- I'd like this, but there's been no history of CF (or any non busch park) looking to buy Dive Coasters. Flyer- Not with Firehawk already there. Giga- Now I would have doubted it 2 years ago, but look at CW. This to me is the most likely option. It's VERY marketable, and would make sense based on what I've seen so far. Now explain to me this un-deniable evidence against it. I'm open to any change in my opinion (cause I'd much prefer anything else). I'm just sad that there's no way thius will be an Intamin, because a Giga, IMO, is NOT what KI needs now. Your "evidence" is nothing more than speculation. However, based on the pattern of footers, many of us have dismissed it as a giga. I don't want a giga either, so I'm sure we're in agreement on that point. If you give me time, I'll go back through the posts and find the relevant ones which explain our position, then I'll post a link so you guys can read them.
  17. The reason(s) why those of us in the invert camp believe as we do is based on the positioning of the footers for the station, transfer track, and storage shed - along with the parallel double footers immediately adjacent to that area. I'll have to go back through the pages to find the post which illustrates it.
  18. What's the evidence against a B&M Giga? Based on the footers, it's already been 100% confirmed to be a B&M, Oumit said that there wouldn't be any new Wing Riders this year. 19. I know. I made a post not too long ago in this thread, and it's not showing up. I also noticed some weird things happened earlier today with HTCO's apology thread. I left a comment in it, then the whole thread disappeared. After I logged out and then logged back in, it was there. Very strange.
  20. You told people to go to the park and take pictures ASAP. Pretty idiotic to assume that no one was stupid enough to do it. In all fairness to HTCO, ASAP means "as soon as possible". It's doesn't mean "right now at this very minute". By saying ASAP, he could have meant the next morning when the park opened. Something else...in this post he went on to say "I suggest taking a ride up the tower tomorrow morning." Have you ever sat on a jury? It's not as easy as you might think. I doubt you'd be able to judge HTCO guilty based on "ASAP", because it technically means "as soon as possible"...not "right away". I doubt you'd be able to prove he meant "right away", so based on the evidence it doesn't seem enough to convict. Apparently you crossed a line if a mod deleted your post. GAME OVER Indeed, his post was deleted: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27275-starting-to-decode-2014/page-238 The game is indeed over. HTCO, you owe all of us an apology. He owes us nothing. Very well said....kudos! I totally respect you for saying that.
  21. Popping out of my hole again briefly because Silver2005 brought up something that caught my attention. Earlier this evening I was browsing around on the Vekoma website, and noticed the dueling coaster called Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon. Now I'm not going to introduce Vekoma as a possible manufacturer of the coaster, but I am intrigued by the idea of a dueling coaster that has an invert and sitdown weaving in and out of each other. If you've never seen it, check it out. It's very interesting, and I think it would be a really great choice for KI, considering it would give us a full-circuit invert as well as a family-style sitdown coaster all in one project. Do you think B&M would build something like this?
  22. No, KI1997 - I just get tired of hypocrisy. If you knew me, you'd know I'm anything but a drama queen. I'm not full of hatred or rage. But I am human, and sometimes need to vent to get things off my chest. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27674-bb1s-goodbye/?p=526684 As for why my name is still showing up at the bottom of the page, it's because I have other threads I follow here and I wanted to catch up on them before logging off. Something else...you can't delete your account from KIC.
  23. Oh, one more thing... Terp, don't send me a PM. I've put you on my Ignore List. RICH, you too....whoever you are.
  24. Gee, I thought the sarcasm of my post was rather obvious. Actually, it's the snotty attitudes of people who set the tone for this place. I've tried going with the flow. Even respected members have posted some useless posts. Funny how I was the one who got called on the carpet for being the "forum regulator", but there are a lot of other members who are doing the same exact thing - including you, Captain Nemo. I've expressed some "moody" posts at time, and get clobbered for it. Other people do it, and no one says a peep. Astonishing. So now that my good mood has been ruined, I think I'm going to follow BB1's path and get out of this place. I don't want to darken the doorsteps of your humble home on the web anymore. So screw it. I give up on you guys. This place is like a house of hypocrisy, full of two-faced people who have double standards. I never know from one day to the next if I'm going to be attacked for a serious post I've made, or if I'm going to be bashed for posting something off-topic. I'm tired of the petty little immature games of this place. I'm too old for it. I can only bite my tongue so many times before it bleeds.
  25. What are the green and black lines?
