I am out of town...so I didn’t have access to my computer photos...so I grabbed these off of my Walgreens photo account...this one was from 2009, so it should be Massacre Manor’s line.

And, if there is a silver lining through all of this...it’s that we can all avoid this!

Kinda like Super Sugar Crisp cereal when I was a kid...the advertising was better than the actual product!

A piece of the track was my number one choice for a souvenir...so I am happy, but the park missed the boat not saving (and selling) pieces of the iconic station...which would have doubled as a Bat souvenir too!

Reminds me of the good old days when I worked in a record store...customers would come in and sing (and usually butcher the lyrics to) a song that they were looking to buy...I’m guessing you’re looking for Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right”!

I don’t see that at all. (Too easy of a joke to pass up. I would have used the term “straight man”...but I did that once on here and someone thought I was alluding to their sexuality!)

We both know that comparing the reselling of a house and this are worlds apart. With a home you either have years of extra maintenance cost invested, or if you are flipping houses you have remodeling expenses...that is not the case here. I do not have a problem with anyone selling something they own at a profit...I have sold stuff I no longer want/need on eBay many times. I have a problem when someone takes away someone else’s opportunity to buy something the same way they did purely to make an obscene amount of profit. I think that there is a difference between reselling something that has appreciated in value over time, compared to price gouging/scalping. For example, in the early stages of this “wonderful” COVID madness, sanitizer wipes did not truly appreciate in value by 800% overnight...yet they were selling for that...that is price gouging/scalping. (I am glad that the government and Amazon attempted to stop it.) In the case of these Vortex kits, when someone knowingly bought an extra one just to scalp, the outcome was that another fan who just wanted to own one for themselves had one less chance at succeeding in their quest due to someone else’s greed. Yes, I know there is a BIG difference between the need to buy sanitizer wipes during a crisis and a piece of a coaster, but all of the same excuses people have listed above could still be used...”they were in the store, everyone had the same chance to buy them”...”the seller was using the extra money to pay off their debts”...at what point does it become morally okay to gouge someone? I’m curious, if you wanted one of these and were standing in line and the person in front of you bought the last two...are you telling me you would not be upset to find out that one of them was just to be resold on eBay within’ hours? I followed this sale pretty good...I feel so bad for all of the out-of-state fans who were posting how bad they were hoping some would be left to be sold on line...only to be left with the option of paying WAY over twice the asking price if they want one. I know no one is putting a gun to their head to pay it...I was just giving my opinion on how I feel...right or wrong...and I don’t know why I let the subject get to me so much because I know in my heart it is a battle I can never win. I guess in life, we are only “in this together” on the big things. I will now step off of my soapbox!

Although it’s been said, many times, many ways...anyone selling one of The Vortex kits on eBay should be ashamed of themselves. (I hope it is no one here on KIC.) I picture this ruining it for anyone that actually needs more than one of a limited collectible item in the future.

I know this isn’t what kind of photo that is expected in this thread...but it is one of my favorite trips to the park during Halloween. My nephew dressed up as Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. We had saved some of his hair from a previous haircut to make sure his goatee matched. The real fun was when he had his sweatshirt on over his costume...the double-takes from everyone seeing him were priceless...and little kids would just stare at him while waiting for rides.

I’m hoping the park can get one to everyone who wants to purchase it. I personally don’t care if they would pump out 5,000 of them...I didn’t buy one because they were limited, I bought one because I wanted to have a piece of the ride. Years ago the late Jack Lord (of Hawaii 5-0) donated his entire estate to charity...all of his belongings were sold on eBay. One of the conditions of the winning bidders was that they could not immediately resell the items...I believe it was for a period of 5 years...I don’t know how well that would hold up in court...but it did give them the power to have a listing pulled off of eBay...maybe Kings Island could try something similar.

Side note: In the descriptions of the areas they used the term awesome for Racer...I wouldn’t have guessed that the word “awesome” was thrown around back in the early 70’s.... but, on the other hand, they also used “rip-roaring”...when was the last time anyone ever asked you if you wanted to go out and have some rip-roaring fun?! Thanks again for letting us see this piece of history!

I think that is nice...although most of the general public might think it’s a bit sad! (Not me.) Also, on a side note...the people who criticize the (lack of) size puzzle me...it’s what it represents, not how big it is...a bigger piece would not bring me more memories...just less shelf space!

That’s where I think it gets hard to guess about sales...I think Vortex is more beloved than Son of Beast...so who knows.

I will mention an odder thing in your video that thrilled the collector in me...a common item on eBay is an old brown glass mug that has a wooden handle...it was fun seeing them on the shelf back then. I agree that you are probably right...but I also wonder sometimes if the park doesn't fall into the same mentality that I find where I work when I question something that doesn't seem logical...I get a reply "Because that's the way we've always done it".

My family doesn’t seem to have a problem.
