Our cable system dropped WTTV 4 years and years ago...does Kings Island still advertise on them?
-
All things considered...that is really an ugly/boring postcard, I wonder if it sold well?

Thanks for the correct information.

I also had my first "real" job when I was 16...but my job was at Kresge's...I think you win.

Dinah Shore was at the park...I never would have guessed.

This is a fun thread...I am seeing things that I know that I saw LOTS of times back then...but had forgotten them long ago...at this point in time at least I still remember that there even was a ride called Enchanted Voyage.

I wonder where that sign is...still in the park...somebody's home...hopefully not rotting away in a landfill. Thanks again for the photos!

I eliminated Motormouse because it is supposed to only be one word...and the M in Mouse on the sign is capitalized...but it wouldn't be the first typo on a sign.

He was in the short 5 minute type cartoons. I have such fond memories of watching tons of Hanna-Barbera cartoons on WTTV back in the day. Kids of today really missed out not being able to sit down every day to watch cartoons with a host who introduced the cartoons...read letters from the viewers... My favorite was Cowboy Bob at lunch-time...there was also Janie in the mornings before school. Good times. (Which I am guessing Avatar, IndyGuy4KI 7 many others on here can attest too.) rcs...sorry for sidetracking your thread.

rcs, this is by FAR my favorite photo that you have posted so far! What a great shot! I have never been able to remember all of the old Hanna-Barbera parking lot names. Looking at your picture I tried to figure them all out...the ones is yellow were either a guess, or some that I wasn't 100% positive were right. Anyone out there want to verify or correct any of the yellow ones? The toughest one for me was the second one down on the left. It appears to me that the second word starts with a "W". I google'd a list of HB characters...the only 2 that had a capitol W in the second word were Hokey Wolf & Ding-A-Ling Wolf. My problem that I have with my guess is that in your photo, the word preceeding the capitol W word does not look like it ends in either a "y" or a "g"...anyone know what the answer(s) are? Thanks again for the photos!

I like seeing King Cobra's logo featured on the front...except for seeing a Smurf it looks like a great year to be at the park. (This is the first foldout in the brochure.) The only thing that caught my eye on this page...no pun intended...is that Yogi appears to have 1 eye closed. I can't picture a costume made with 1 eye closed...so was it possible to manually open & close the eyes on some of those outfits for a different look back then? If so, I am impressed. (Middle of brochure.) "Flintstones shake little hands and bring on giant smiles"....GREAT line! I have always loved White Water Canyon...it remains to be one of the park's better additions. (IMHO) Have a great weekend!

^Ronny, at least I got you to post!

So will you at least ADMIT that if you do not purchase a Fast Lane pass your day could be affected by Fast Laners...plain and simple?

Soak City Construction Continues

As for squirting Snoopy...on a hot day I say bring it on! My problem is on the chillier days MOST people do not want to get wet...but they like the ride enough to gamble not getting too wet only to have their fate sealed by Snoopy...which on a chilly day/evening is neither fun nor necessary. Call me a wuss if you want...but I feel confidant that I am not alone in my "wussyness". Another scenerio that has played out in my life for the last 4 years is that my young nephews want to ride it no matter what the weather...and I can't say no...so I am the one who leans forward to take the full Snoopy squirt so that they do not have to be cold & wet. Maybe a good rule of thumb for the park should be is that if the photo booth isn't open (Because it's a chilly low ridership time period.) then Snoopy should also be turned off. -
I also thought of this as an option...I just hope that the park has too...and for that matter that they don't wait for disgruntled customers to do what is right in the first place.

I still prefer Delirium to King Cobra...but I like how green the area looks with King Cobra there.

That IS a nice shot...most of the pictures I run across seem to only be close-ups of the dolphins and not much else.

I have avoided Fast Lane conversations for a LONG time...but I am curious to see how many people will come to the defense of Fast Lanes passes if the Eiffel Tower is in fact one of the 24 FL rides. I specifically mean when it is close to fireworks time. We all know that the tower has a maximum capacity...plus you already have to get in line early in order to hopefully get up in the tower...can you imagine how furious a non-Fast Lane customer would be seeing people jump ahead of them? The fireworks are a once a night deal...it's not like you can wait for the next batch like a Diamondback train...plus how in the world could anyone know how many Fast Laners are about to get in line ahead of them so that they can get in line early enough? (It's like where I work...someone will call and ask if we have a certain item, then the ask if we will still have any left in a few hours...how can I predict how many people might be on their way to possibly buy said item?!) And if a non-Fast Laner DOES have to get in line earlier...isn't that affecting them in the end?

Thanks for the information dr_humor. I do not remember this cartoon...but obviously the outfits match. I learned something new today...but I doubt it will ever come in handy anywhere else but here!

Thank you for sharing these photos! I still have fond memories of The Enchanted Voyage. I must admit though, all of the videos and photos that I have seen of it don't quite seem to live up to how I remember it. I tried to figure out who the 2 guys in the boat are but couldn't. The design of the outfits look a little Speed Buggyish...but I know it's not them. I think I know all of the "classic" H-B cartoons...so i'm guessing that these guys are from one that fell through the cracks.

Shooting off fireworks at Christmas time just doesn't seem to fit...the same as putting up a Christmas tree on the 4th Of July. I have always held that places like KI & Disney etc...have ruined the "thrill" of seeing fireworks on the 4th because of them shooting them off year 'round. (Kinda like how the family would all gather around the TV to see a holiday special...now they can watch it over and over and over on video/DVD or on demand.)

Very cool! I really look forward to seeing the Enchanted Voyage ones. I also think it's good to string them out...otherwise the fun is over in 1 viewing. As in Thunder Road?!
