Hey Hauntguy, that was under Paramount, wasn't it?? Maybe Cedar Fair will be different. Also, not to pry, but how did getting family involved with Fearfest cause a problem? If you mean having to be with family when scheduled to work, family ALWAYS comes first in my view.

I think that they should relocate the picnic grove to the right of the main gate in the admin lot and use the picnic grove as area for development. There's lot of in park room there. And they should build the train around the entire park and use it for transportation like at Disney.
-
Money talks....If Disney bought the parks, it's quite possible to theme each area "mickey free". It would be cool to have a themed park once again.
-
With Six Flags being the family park that they are, they should have paid all medical costs immediately and given the family whatever they wanted or needed, however it is apparent that since they waited they would rather fight the issue. I hope the family gets every dollar coming to them for pain, suffering and future rehabilitation.

Perhaps since CF wants to keep management, they are only looking for partnership rather than a complete sale. Would Disney or any other corporation actual partner with them?? I think it would be really cool since I believe that Disney would look to diversify each park rather than duplicate attractions, thereby making visits to each park more unique. If I'm not mistaken, executives from Coney Island assisted Disney in the creation of Disneyland, and when Kings Island was built, Disney assisted in the design, and under Paramount, an imagineering executive was hired to design. It seems like CF is already set to perhaps partner with Disney. It would be cool to see "Kings Island -Ohio Adventures" or "Kings Dominion - Virginia Adventures" ETC. The only thing that might be a drawback, is that Disney tends to be precise on their attractions and it might take years for new attractions, but they are usually worth waiting for.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
upstop replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm puzzled, it sounds as if cables broke and the car crashed to the ground cutting off her legs, yet I thought the ride used magnetic brakes and the cables wouldn't matter. Can the magnetic brakes fail? Were the cables supposed to be a fail-safe? It's almost as if cables and the breaks failed. I know how the witnesses feel, it is a terrible feeling and my prayers are with the girl. Its absolutely horrible to think about it. -
GLP Raging Wolf Bobs derails
upstop replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I witnessed the derailment. My friend and I were walking up the ramp for the Grizzly Run observation deck when there was a loud pop like pneumatic air breaks. My friend said "My God it derailed". I looked up and saw the train speeding down the fan tail part of the track backwards and the back car was bouncing all over the place, slamming the track and leaving a trail of smoke. It finally stopped and began to valley forwards. The car was now down in between the track, sideways and as the train went forward into the valley, the car was dragged over the supports one at a time. You could see the riders bouncing and jerking around. We had ridden earlier on the same train and there was an incredible amount of lateral movement. It looked as if the derailment occurred where new track had been replaced. My first thought was the gauge of the track seemed different. Security, station workers and emt were on sight in less than two minutes and should be recognized for their speed in getting to the site. People were immediately evacuated from the station. People really wanted to help but knew that they would be in the way. Within twenty minutes, everyone was evacuated from the train. Thank God no one was seriously hurt. -
They were running both trains.... and using one station. With at least a 5 min load and unload, that left the other carload of people hanging upside down for at least 3 minutes. The were all lifting their heads after a short time. Maybe they will open the other side.....someday.

I wonder if lighter cars would actually make SOB rougher because of the lack of speed?

IMHO, I believe that the next attraction will go in Rivertown, regardless of if it is a coaster or a flat ride. That side of the park is in serious need of SOME rides.
-
The restraints were really comfortable. I wouldn't mind them on Flight of Fear, Vortex or any looping coaster.

Who would you want to make a signature steel for KI?
upstop replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
How about a B & M hyper twister in Rivertown through the valley behind Tomb raider and around White Water Canyon. or a s&s power tower at X-base -
I thought Fort Cooper was named after Gordon Cooper, the astronaut that saw a UFO? And it may sound stupid.... but who is Ms Cooper?
-
They should call it Fort Cooper and start a new theme area.
-
I'd love to see a hybrid water ride on Coney Mall somewhere around the Euro-bungee. A water coaster with a themed building with characters inside and a drop like Rip Saw Falls at IOA.

I'm intrigued! What does it look like??? The seating area directly infront of the 3d virtual ride is gone and covered in concrete. Directly behind the basketball game and working forward....there is a small wall that begins at about 4 inches and is level to the rice jewelry booth to about a foot high with a length of about 20 feet. directly center of the 20 feet and about two feet from the wall is a concrete circle about the size of the sling lock-down platform that is level with the top of the wall. at both ends of the wall and approximately 8 feet from the are two more concrete circles level with the wall. If you were to connect the circles you would have a k with the back to the baseket ball game. At the tallest part of the wall near the rice jewelry shop is located all of the electrical wiring lines and they have disguised the concrete circles with potted plants. Also there is an "excuse our dust" signs.

Something is being constructed infront of the virtual 3-d pay as you go ride , behind the basketball game. Perhaps it is a pay as you go attraction.

....which AZ restroom was supposedly dirty? And was it yesterday or Saturday? It was saturday. It was the restroom by SOB. Let me recount....the toilet furthest back in the restroom was overflowing with poop at about 6:00pm and the stalls really needed to be painted. Because there apparently was graphiti on the stall walls they were sanded and painted hastily. Granted, there was nothing that the cleaning personnel could do about that, because that is a maintainence issue, however it, along with the poop made the whole room look and feel unclean.

Nearly all of the chain link fencing is gone in Action Zone. Especially along Delirium and the entry way to Action Zone and around Days of Thunder with a new entry into the Stunt Grill from the Midway. The movie posters in Action Zone have been replaced with attraction and event posters. Coney mall has been repainted. The flower beds around the Eifel Tower have been replaced with sod. LOTS of trees have been trimmed. the walkways appear to have been washed clean adn there was no litter anywhere. It looked like the different department uniforms were also color coded. Sweepers were wearing yellow. food service blue, shops maroon and I didn't notice on the rides if the uniforms had changed. The restroom in Action Zone was REALLY dirty. Overall, the park was really, really clean. Last year, before Cedar Fair there was a milkshake stain in Action Zone for weeks and it only got dirtier as the weeks wore on.

Park of the fun of riding roller coasters is airtime, sliding in the seats and the element of danger of falling out. Now we are locked tight into the cars like we are going to an execution. They (Cedar Fair) have taken 90% of the fun out of riding them now.

Make the park an outdoor table service cafe, with wine ,candles, and light food. Could be romantic at night.

Accident at "Foire du Thorne"
upstop replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It sounds as if the kid/ kids were demanding a free ride (fast pass??) and had entered the exit. When they were told that they could not, they began to riot and the police were called. Apparently the ride was still operating when the riot escalated until the boy pushed the policman into the path of the ride. Man, what is the world coming to!!! -
Believe it or not, it only rotated at 15 miles per hour and the drum was only 12 feet in diameter.
-
Maybe the fourth picture of the concrete structures is the on ride photo kiosk.
