Disney Christmas Parade
upstop replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Give Eisner a little credit. Back in the 80's Disney was going bankrupt and was on the verge of selling out to a Japanese corporation. Eisner prevented that from happening.......on the other hand......I believe that he certainly went tooooooo far with the changes such as the elimination of hand drawn artistry ( the basis of the company) . Disney has always been beyond the reach of the general public in price and a little too below the intellect of the average teenager. Whenever I go to Disney World, I feel as if I'm in a really big commercial. -
It's part of the soundtrack for the movie The Haunting. I'm not sure if that particular sound track is available. ***just looked on Amazon and it is available. The track is called the Carousel.

You're right. I looked at several pictures of x-flight after posting and it would fit there.
-
If you look at the amount of land cleared by FOF, it looks like a lot more land has been cleared than is needed for an x-flight coaster. Do you think there might be something more coming to KI???
-
It's a lot of thong.

At Halloween Horror Nights, at Universal Studios, they had the Chain Saw brigade. They marched in group formation with chain saws raised and people would clear the way like they were watching a parade. And then....they'd stop and stand for about 10 seconds, then rip the start cords starting the chain saws and chase into the crowds with the chainsaws running. It was fun to watch.

I agree. Unfortunatly, I believe that we will have brand new blue garbage cans with new KI labels, 25 cent cotton candy that is only sold till closing and the removal of some black top to be replaced with concrete. I think the biggest thing new will be the removal of the goldpass parking fence and the preferred parking area.
-
PGA had stealth. As I recall, it was removed from PGA in order to expand their waterpark to Boomarang Bay. It went to Carowinds and became the Borg Asimilator. I have never been to Geauga lake, are they strapped for space, like Knotts Berry Farm? I just hope that KI doesn't become the "land of misfit rides" from all of the other parks.

I really like your ideas. What if several flat rides were rethemed and opened along with the merry go round. Like the dodge cars could be enclosed with plastic or canvas and the cars could have christmas packages attached to the back of each car and it could be called the Holiday Rush Hour. The action theater could show a couple of shows where you fly with Santa. (I think there was a motion simulator at the Festival of Lights last year where you flew with Santa) How about a couple of walk through attractions where you can see the elves at work, or even just a walkthrough with millions of lights in a show. It's really short sighted of Cedar Fair to drop Winterfest after just one season. If the results of the first year of the return of Winterfest was a determining factor, I believe it was because of the admission cost. Admission should have been free or minimal and everyone would have come to spend their money.

too short. two trains. eventual long lines. I'll ride it twice if they pass out tickets.
-
If they are trying to keep up with Disney and Universal, the ideas are well thought out, and stored for future use. I expect that the Addams Family coaster will come and be placed in the spot where Sleepy Hollow was located, just to bring more customers to the Rivertown side. PKI needs a haunted dark ride, badly!

On the last night after our final ride on The Beast, we were walking towards Nick Central when we noticed the sign for White Water Canyon was gone. At first we thought it might be in the sign shop, however, we started to speculate that the Wings Diner would become the TVland Diner, with a newly rethemed White Water Canyon and Nick Centrals boundries would extend to the bridge before the basketball game. There are a couple of acres of land behind the Skyline restaurant and the train station big enough for the future "nick toon car wash" or the antique cars if they come back. What do you speculate?

I think they should retro-fit it with the same seats as the one at PKD. It loaded and lifted much faster. My friend got in line with a completely full queue (same size as at PKI) and was on the ride in less than 20 minutes. I was shocked because I expected at least an hour.

I wasn't really impressed. It seemed like last year to me. The Dracula ride seemed to end in the middle of the movie and had no setup in the line. There's still way too much light and the fog was only in a portion of Coney Maul. We went to the Friday the 13th show and it was corny but had potential for further thrills. The line for Sleepy Hollow started near the pastry shop so we skipped that. We did go on Curse of the Crypt. I think it was the same setup as last year. Dark house was "broken down" at 3:30 so we skipped that. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 4.

I remember that year.....Vortex was awesome. You could only see the lights on the lift hill and nothing else. I hope it's that way again this year!
-
But isn't that why they put "artificial fog and strobe lighting is used in this attraction" on the warning signs? (also lights were on all over the park last year) Maybe the survey results will change that! The Dark House, Psycho Path and Curse of the Crypt mazes have some fog in them and Maze of Madness has a zillion strobe lights inside. I have severe asthma and artificial fog only makes it worse, but if you take precautions, such as medication and or hand held aspirators it won't effect you as much. I can't answer for those that have epilepsy, but if you heed the warning signs, just as for all of the rides, you would avoid any possible injuries. I for one don't want MY ailment to stop everyone from having fun. So I say "more fog and strobes, PKI." I'll just find a "breathing spot" if things get too bad.

Don't think I'm crazy.....but, once while riding Phantom theater a friend and I experienced something strange. It was near the end of the evening and we decided to take one last ride. As we were going past the portraits we notice that there was a single rider in the car behind us wearing a strange hat, that we did not see get into the car. We continued to ride and when we got to the main "theater" I glanced back and no one was there. I told my friend who also looked. We figured the ride would have stopped if someone got out midway but it did not. As we were leaving the car, the attendant stopped us and said "excuse me, but did you leave your hat?" We said no, but in the middle of the seat in the car we were riding in there was a hat. Neither of us stayed long enough to examine it. Needless to say, until now, I have never told anyone about this strange encounter.

What do you think about another haunted trail?
upstop replied to upstop's topic in Coming Attractions
Hey, about the dead spots.....what if the tunnel were covered with plastic over the top and on the lake side with "dead bodies" hanging down the middle and actors on the outside of the exit. Then, once at the platform, you could be lead into the trough, like Wolf Canyon at Cedar Point. Or perhaps, over the landing to circle through the woods and over the bridge, through more bodies to the exit. I really think it would be great to use the Rivertown side of the park for a couple of haunted attractions because of it's natural surroundings. -
I think that the queue line for White Water Canyon would make a perfect haunted trail for next year.
-
I think it will be located in Rivertown. This part of the park is the perfect setting for this kind of attraction.
-
I think it would be cool if they just turned the main lights for the coasters off and added fog, red, green, or black lighting and strob effects in tunnels.
-
I'm really pumped up about Fearfest this year.....with the antique cars gone, maybe there will be more fog....and I hope less light.
-
Even though I hate slasher movies, I like the idea and will give it a try. It sounds like "Honey I shrunk the audience, without the 3d.....or maybe with the 3d. Wasn't there one version of Friday the 13th in 3d? Do you think the Sleepy Hollow maze will be in Rivertown, perhaps in the arcade area?
-
actually there are two launches and a boost. The boost will be uphill and through the billboard into the aqua-duct.

Downtown Cincinnati is all but dead. The locals from around the 275 loop would jump at the idea of having a one stop restaurant, shopping location (with a few rides tossed in) provided it has unique stores and foods.....and isn't a mall. Maybe they are trying to become a vacation destination with everything rolled into one ball. I think Jeff may have alluded to this last year at the BB walkback. He hinted, jokingly, that the next thing would be to keep the park open all year round. Shortly thereafter there was a survey that asked questions like: etc. It might have been directly geared towards Winterfest, but who really knows what they have in store. Jeff gives you hints when he talks....he's a master at leading you the opposite way to protect the parks ideas while telling you a little bit of true park info.
