  1. I went twice on reserved days, and had a blast. and it was pretty crowded both times. plus there were a few bad weather days sprinkled in that spoiled business. Paramount was starting to sell tickets for the 2006 Winterfest season, sold the parks to CF who ultimately closed the event and refunded the Winterfest presale tickets. It needed time to regrow into a family tradition, but was never given the chance to build a following. It would work now and it does work now at many seasonal parks across the country. The biggest reason the event was brought back in the first place was to make the park attractive for potential buyers....and....well it worked.
  2. Yes it would succeed if it were operated like many other events. It would need to be cost effective and provide enough entertainment for a crowd. There were two things that I observed that caused problems with the last incarnation: 1. Price. (it wasn't unreasonable, but it would have been nice to have had an event long ticket.) There was plenty to do to keep young ones entertained. 2. Having to pick a scheduled date. I had to find a date within all that is going on during that part of the season from visiting relatives, having guests, meals and get-togethers. In other words, you couldn't visit when you wanted to without buying a reserved date ticket for the day. As far as I know, no other winter event at a seasonal park asks for you to reserve a date. Paramount screwed up big time when they cancelled the event after buying the parks in 1991. I'm not sure what their motives were for closing it, but it seemed to be getting bigger and better each year until it was closed. It could have been great like BGW's event with rides and coasters weather permitting. I would love to see Winterfest return if it were like this:
  3. It might have been nice to have been painted Antarctic blue (As in a certain super sports wagon with the CB and the optional rally fun pack) but definitely not Metallic Pea (as in a certain Wagon Queen Family Truckster).
  4. Poked in the eye by an aluminum covered wienie.....interesting. However, I never was a fan of projectiles being thrown into a crowd anyway no matter where the crowd is located.
  5. It's like looking at a sonogram! She's a cute little thing....and she will be born around nine months from the announcement date too!!! I kind of imagine the birth to be like this....
  6. Just a thought, but isn't the Halloween Haunt event called something else at different CF parks? Perhaps "Amusement Dark" might be a renaming/rebranding of the event to keep the event names consistent throughout the chain.
  7. You hit the nail on the head. With kids things can happen in an instant and you have to constantly be on guard with them.
  8. I think Amusement Dark, actually would fit that section of the park. Has a ring to it.
  9. Glad to hear he is recovering and expected to survive. "The boy reportedly leaned too far back while riding a boat inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction." He's five years old, either he was standing on the seat or the seat backs are only 5 inches tall....I wonder which is the case? Either way "Paris police are investigating whether the popular theme park is responsible for the accident"
  10. The last image I saw today was Clifford resting his big red head on the ground....napping and expecting high winds to blow through...I know they did here! Practically cleaned the leaves out of all of my trees (and blew them handily into my neighbors yard. Yay!)

    The Bat

They were/are advertising their cartoon characters....Even when it was Beastie, Scooby Doo and gang were present...
  12. (thedevariouseffect) I hear ya! You also have lots of security screens too.
  13. I'm sure there is...sometimes they toss out new versions, but sites aren't usually immediately compatible. Glad you found a usable browser!
  14. I upgrade to the next explorer version and quickly went back to my original because I was experiencing the same thing as you are now....only in all of my business websites, including this website.
  15. It would never have worked without stabilization from the top and from the bottom of the coaster....like it is stabilized upon reentry into the station. That could have been extremely rough mid course to slam into the stabilizer before a corkscrew or a loop. Anyone riding on Flight deck on it's return to the station knows what I'm talking about. (slight speed and not at 45 miles per hour of course.)
  16. True...suppose I could change that avatar....Let me think about it....
  17. Heard an announcement on the radio around 8:30 this morning...they seemed excited.... Darn fog!!! Missed the topping off of the vertical loop....Darn fog....darn nature....LOL
  18. Holy Bat crap....it's foggy at the island today!!!!
  19. I agree. Those names have psychological connotations and would fit in with the spooky theme ok. (if there is a spooky theme )
  20. I'm excited about the changes coming!!! I think the bridge over The Bat queue line might just get a cave-like makeover....time will tell.... I think over the years we will see a true transformation of the Zone into something special.
