for Cedar Fair to have taken over Kings Island when they did (during the big Son of Beast accident) they are doing great and as much as i hated the decision to take out the loop they at least did what they could to keep the ride at the park so, at least so far they are doing an exellent job.

Maybe all the clearing behind TC is to expand Rivertown. When they build this their not alot of room like the other areas. They dont have footers back their yet,but on swan lake?
do what?

angrybever i'm with you i like the old site much better. and even though it is basicly the same it is alot harder to get around. or at least to me it is.

this sounded like a great topic to say this in, so here it goes.
what is the deal with the crypt right now. i thought it had been fixed. but to me it still has alot of downtime

(emphasis added)True, if you asked a regular 9 year old what are Peanuts? They would most likely say...
Food?
Go back thirty? years ago,
Snoopy Charlie Brown, Linus....so on and so fourth.
Okay, so who IS fourth?
Terpy, who wonders if it was Pigpen (and how many remember the politically incorrect Pigpen?)
it could have also been pepperment pattie, or even woodstock, better yet maybe the fourth is the red barron.

^If Wallenda made one mistake he'd be gone too. Plus Wallenda didn't set a world record, although he did break his grandfather's.
And the Matterhorn at Disneyland used to be scaled daily, something that would not have been done if it wasn't entertaining. And you honestly don't think this would be entertaining for the general public?
but, the matterhorn is shaped like a mountian, and the people just look like climbers to add to the themeing. and i thought he did set the world distance record.

Generally Hyper coasters are 200 -299 feet high and do not have any inversions. Millenium Force is a Giga Coaster and TTD I have heard called a Strata Coaster
i thought that a hyper coaster was a lable givin to any roller coaster between the height of 200-299 ft. mainly because they called Son of Beast (when it still had the loop) a hyper-twister coaster. but then about two or three weeks ago coasterkidman had the def. of a hyper coaster which said what you posted.
edit- sorry i never heard Son of Beast called a hyper-twister, what i ment was a hyper-woodie

o.k. i too was at Kings Island on this day, and when i rode backlot while setting on the final break run the guy running the ride got on the loud speaker and said that ride backlot while you can because it is it's last season. i'm not belieaving this but is it true?
There is no way he would know. And I imagine the powers that be would take appropriate action had they heard this comment. It is not exactly the type of uplifting information the park wants out...
see the only reason that i'm not believing this is because that they are building the new coaster. and i don't see them both building a roller coaster and tearing one out.

I didn't know that they had a trim on Firehawk? Maybe you can only feel them when you're sitting down, not laying down.
you could hear it pretty well.
-
o.k. have they removed or just turned off the trim break before the loop on Firehawk? because of the first two times i rode Firehawk i could hear it but i rode it this year i didn't hear the break.
-
wow i knew about alot of the things on that list, but i never really put them all together and relize that there were that many new things for 2008.
-
You were 19 huh.
Well, my first was Goofy's Barnstormer @ WDW when I was 3.
me too

It's not just older folk, I hate when people say
The Son of Beast
The T-- Flight Deck
The Drop Tower
The Firehawk
I could go on...
at least they get the name somewhat right, you know there are the ones that will say
hey lets go ride the yellow one (Invertigo)
or
lets go ride superman (Firehawk)
or
lets go ride white water canyon (congo falls)

The Beast is terrible lately. I used to ride it always because it would be inconsistant, and I knew that if todays ride was rough next week's ride would be smooth. I've ridden the Beas like 5 times this year and each was terrbile. I get jereked around like all get out and my back gets jackhammered on the turns. I sit there and BEG for them to turn the trims on high because those turns, taken at the speeds they're at, are really rough. It's like each turn is a mini-SoB-rosebowl. And don't get me started with the SoB.
The trims are not turned up or down in any fashion. They are the same on any given day.
plus imo the magnetic trims add to the roughness of the ride, i say this because when you are going down the first hill of The Beast and get up to speed, then you crest over the bunny hop after the first tunnel and as soon as you start to lift out of your seat to get air time you hit those trims and it throws you forward and jams the lap bar into your stomach.
As far as I know, no magnetic brakes are used on The Beast. They're just pneumatic.
the trims going down the first hill, over the first bunny hop, and dropping into the helix are all magnetic.

Interesting... because it does say 6 moments of inversion so they probably are counting that section of track as one corkscrew (like everyone else has said).
so would that mean that mantis at Cedar Point has only half a corkscrew?

http://www.themeparkbrochures.net/1987/pki1987_2.html
i was looking through the old park brochures when i came acrossed Kings Islands for the year '87 and while i was reading the description i noticed a very big mistake. it says that Vortex goes through two loops one corkscrew and a batwing.
-
o.k. why in the world do they still have the ride description up that they do for the crypt. there isn't any theming in the big garage the top spin is actually in and it says that riders will be in the middle of a battle between lava and ice.

Two cats-a tiger and a cow kitty. I miss my siamese.......
like a grr tiger or a meow cat that isn't really a tiger but looks like one.
-
i have two pets,
one boxer mix and one goldfish.
sorry i don't have any pictures, but my dad has some crazy old wise-tale imbedded in his head that says if you take a picture of any animal it will die very young.
-
That's not a Top Spin...it's a Vekoma Waikiki Wave, like Kentucky Kingdom once had. What's most notable is that it was filmed while actually working, a very rare occurrence, from my experience...
my bad, i thought it was a top spin.
-
i was just wondering if any top spin could move the way that this one does or if it just had to be built to.
-
i can't tell is this ride just a themed top spin or what?
2 years later, are you happy CF purchased KI?
