I think that Soak City is indeed new and improved. The new wave pool's waves are absolutely spectacular ( great exercise for me ) and although the lazy river is not really a lazy river any more with all the splashing, who cares? Its hot out and the extra splashes feel great. Also love the band by the bar which plays the calypso music. All and all, cannot think of a greater way to spend a hot, 90 plus day.

I swear, if I see one more kid on The Beast or DB waving his smelly shirt in my face, I will grab it and throw it off the train. Anyway, I think the plastic sword fight between the Gemini trains is a nice addition to a decades long tradition of high fiving the neighboring train.

I remember that during the 2000 season at CP when Millenium Force opened , the height requirement for the ride was 54 inches, During its second season in 2001, the restriction was lowered to 48 inches,.

It is mind boggling that parents would care more about getting their child on a ride over their safety.

Don't know what everyone else was talking about but back to the topic at hand-you're right, it has to do with the blocking system. You will notice that when the train goes up the lift hill, it starts off slow, then speeds up It speeds up when the train ahead of you clears the second lift hill. If the train ahead of you does not clear the second lift hill by the time your train is almost at the top of the first lift hill, your train will stop and stay stopped until the train ahead of you clears the second lift hill. On DB, if a train gets stuck at the mid-course brake, the train climbing the lift hill will automatically stop. That is why you often see trains stopped on the lift hill at the beginning of the day when they are testing-they are simply doing block checks, ie, making sure one train stops when another train stops in the middle of the course of the ride. I don't pretend to be an expert but I am reasonably sure I explained the block system correctly. Feel free to correct me if I explained anything incorrectly.

I am pretty sure that it is against the rules for any child to be left unattended at a ride exit. I have on several occasions seen the DB attendants telling parents that they cannot leave their children unattended while recommending the parent swap program.
-
I worked for PKI from 2001 to 2004 and the park had a Parent Swap program then. It has been around well before CF. Don't recall KI having parent/swap pre-Cedarfair. Of course, I don't have kids ( lol.) so I guess I was wrong.
-
The associates at DB must not have been watching because, as far as I know, it is still against the rules for parents to leave children unattended at the DB exit. ( I believe that is the rule on all KI rides now.) CP always had parent swap which KI adopted after Cedar Fair took over.

What's in a name when its 90 degree outside? All I can say is that water feels good!!!

xxDrummer, i think your idea is splendid. In my opinion, for the park to be involved in such a campaign is no crazier than being involved in the Susan Conan campaign in the fight against breast cancer-after all, bullying is a very serious heath issue. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether any of us agree with you. If you really believe in your idea, introduce your idea to the park . The worst thing they can say is no. Also, my very sincere condolences to you for the loss of both of your dear friends.

I'm probably going to get clobbered for this but I would like to say something in defense of Soak City. I have been reviewing Soak City's posts and, yes, I do disagree with them. However, as offbeat as they might be ( yes, it is crazy to hate a show yet see it 5 times) at no point did I see any personal attacks by him against anyone. As long as a person does not engage in personal attacks, they have a right to express their opinion and I think we should respect that difference of opinion no matter how offbeat. Just my two cents. ( Or nickels as Terpie would say.)

That was the raunchy part.

Meaning no disrespect but this is the sort of thing that causes needless delays at stations. Why couldn't your friend's mom click down on the lap bar itself? I can assure you that if the lap bar were not locked, it would be detected and the ride op would make sure that it was locked. My point is that riding a roller coaster is a heck of a lot safer than changing a light bulb in your home. Also, it is not that coaster ride that you have to worry about but that ride to and from the amusement park.
-
The ride ops work very hard and have a very stressful job. I think they deserve a lot of credit for the enthusiasm they show. Lets not jump to conclusions and assume that they are doing a lousy job when things are slow at the station. Delays can be for any number of reasons from guests not following instructions ( taking their flip flops off ), guests not fitting in the restraints, the fact that it is still early in the year and new ride attendants are being trained, etc. Please, give them a break.

I myself enjoyed the show but there were parts of the show which I thought were rather raunchy for a family audience.

I may be wrong but I recall CP doing an excellant job of keeping Top Thrll Dragster hush hush until its announcement around Christmas 2002. I can only speculate but I imagine managment was still very angry about Millenium Force losing its world record just 2 months later to Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan. ( I know coasters take years to plan but there must have been some kind of leak during the planning stage-it just seems too coincidental to me that, low and behold, Steel Dragon suddenly appeared on the scene to break Millenium's record.) Anyway, I guess it worked as Dragster held its record for two seasons.

Why does everyone think that CP doesn't have a lot of family friendly attractions? They have not 1, not 2 but 3 great children's sections, not one but two antique car rides, one turnpike ride, a great train, Cedar Fair Mine Ride, need I go on? Plus what do you define as a family attraction? There are families who love thrill rides like roller coasters and families who can't stand them. Just sayin.

Use of your cel phone while riding whether texting or talking is both against park rules and downright dangerous to your fellow riders-your phone can fly out of your hands and seriously injure another rider. We have repeatedly discussed this on other threads. oops-just noticed that the poster who said he texts while riding waits for the ride to stop. Sorry I didn't read your post carefully.

First rode The Rotor with my dad at Six Flags Over Georgia when I was about 8. I remember being led into the ride area and just standing against the wall with no idea what was going to happen. Imagine my chagrin when we started to spin faster and faster and faster and my ultimate shock when that floor dropped. I loved that ride-it was such a rush.
