Fav Steel Coasters 1. Top Thrill Dragster/Kingda Ka-I decided to make it a tie since both rides are so similar 2. Millenium Force 3. Raptor 4. Diamondback 5. Nitro Fav Wooden Coasters 1. El Toro 2. Blue Streak ( CP ) 3. The Beast ( It has been operating just fabulously this year.) 4. Hurler ( The one at KD) 5. The Villain ( I know its no longer operating but cannot overlook it.)

Didn't you love how many people answered The Eifel Tower?
-
I think Blue Streak is more than just a small but fun ride-I think it is one of the most under-rated wooden coasters-it may be small but it is scrappy. And it is hard to beat the airtime.

Its interesting how KI always advertises the Gold pass but is completely silent about the Platinum pass while CP seems to push the Platinum pass real hard. I guess its because you have more people at CP who like to travel to different parks.

Funniest Thing You've Seen Happen At Halloween Haunt
markr replied to 185139's topic in Kings Island
Watching my DB buddies Karen and Darlene getting scared witless. -
When I was at Six Flags Great Adventure in N.J., however, I saw a lot of Orthodox Jewish teenage boys wearing yalmukes while riding the coasters. It seemed like the park was very liberal about accomadating the many different ethnic types that frequent the park. Of course, I don't know enough about the Rye Beach incident to judge.

My response depends upon the situation. If it is simply a young child joining their parents or a parent joining their children, I'll let it pass. My response will escalate as the number of people involved increases and as their arrogance increases. I will not confront the parties involved as this can lead to a volatile, possibly dangerous situation. I will simply quietly and discreetly tell an attendant and let them proceed from there. P.S. -tell us what happened Dave.

The best thing to do is to call the park for information.

For me my score depends upon whether I'm riding alone or with someone. When you're with someone you are competing with the other person for points. I tend to score high when I'm by myself but not so well when I am with someone else. ( Raptorguy always clobbers me-lol.)

I would love to see something like Town Hall at CP which is a museum that shows CP's rich history. It would be nice if it were a combination KI/Coney Island museum since KI in a way is a continuation of Coney. ( Even though Coney Island still exists.)

Dippin Dots Guy: What's His Future?

You said it Terpie. Graeter's has been around for over 100 years and it never ceases to please myself and millions of others. -
Is Top Gun(aka) Flight Deck, being torn down?

I heard about it from the Dippin Dots guy. ( Can't believe it-for once I beat everyone to the Dippin Dots joke.) -
Kennywood Saturday crowds
markr replied to homestar92's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I find that on three day holiday weekends at KI and CP like Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend, the busiest day is usually Sunday. When I was at CP Labor Day Weekend, the lines on Saturday were surprisingly short while Sunday was packed. -
Kings Island History Stuff from ITPS's Dennis Speigel

I remember my dad parking in the Penelope Pitstop section when we went that weekend. -
Just a thought but I was wondering if the rumored Project 2013 for KI is really set for 2012? I'm just thinking about how KI pulled the wool over us last year by surprising us with WindSeeker. Plus next year will be KI's 40th anniversary, so it seems to me it would be appropriate to have something huge. Call me naive but a person can hope, can't they?

I loved Paddlewheel Excursions. My favorite part of the ride was removed a few years ago to make room for Shoot the Rapids( Attendant to Trapper: How's the price of furs? Trapper: The price of furs is just fine but them Canfields and Mcghees is spookin by game.) It was just such a nice and relaxing break from the hussle and bussle of the coasters. I am disappointed at its removal but I guess it is what it is. -
People have been running at CP for as long as I can remember-management calls it Running of the Bulls. Just a guess but I think the reason it is tolerated at CP and not at KI is the difference in the size of the midways-the midways at CP are a lot wider than those at KI and, thus, I think there are less safety issues. ( People running over others, etc.)

Laughing my head off. Thanks for the day brightener.

The main concern at least from my perspective is that assigned seating may force a person into one of those horrible back wheel seats. Isn't there any way that there can be extra padding on those back seats?
-
Good point Terpie. Another good thing about having an attendant by the entrance to the platform is they can measure children to see that they are tall enough. This saves delays in dispatching trains because of having to measure children after they enter the train. However, limiting the number of people on the line platform does not have to mean assigning seats.
-
Was there yesterday when they assigned seats on The Beast-got row 5, a non-wheel seat so I was fine. Do agree with you Raptorguy-many of us oldsters' backs just cannot tolerate those back wheel seats.
