  1. Andrew Gold was the son of Marnie Nixon, who was the ghost singer for many non-singing movie movie stars ( Deborah Kerr in The King and I, Natalie Wood in West Side Story and, most famously, Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady.) She was also Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music-just thought that was an interesting tidbit.
  2. I think CP does not allow inflated basketballs in the queue areas-at least that was the rule a few years back. Call Terpie and me grumpy old men if you like but basketballs are annoying as well as a possible safety hazard in the station because of the risk of the ball falling on the track while a train is approaching. As to people who use their cel phones on rides, I wish all parks took a no tolerance view by booting the violators out of the park in addition to possible criminal prosecution-if they want to risk their own safety that is their own affair but don't jeopardize my safety and the safety of others, especially children.
  3. What Tomb Raider music? The only sound in the queue area for Tomb Raider was an occasional noice that sounded like a "vroommm"-thathat was it as far as queue music ( if you call that music.)
  4. How about: I know I'm going to miss her, a Banshee ate my sister. ( Borrowed from the title song of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.)
  5. I think this is one of the biggest misconceptions about thrill rides, ie, if I a little kid can ride it, I can ride it. There are many so called bigger kids who cannot ride thrill rides because of health issues such as a heart condition. My father is a good example-he used to love coasters but open heart surgery when he was 64 years old ended his coaster riding career. However, when he was 72 years old, I was with him at Busch Gardens in Tampa and he decided that he wanted to ride The Scorpian which has one inversion-big mistake-I thought I was going to lose my father that day as he almost fainted-thank God he was ok and I got to keep him until 83 years young. I have been glancing at the other posts such as people riding coasters to impress girls. I implore you, this is absolutely not the right reason for riding coasters-ride them because you enjoy them, not to impress others. If they are real friends they will respect your limitations if you do not wish to ride and, if you do wish to ride because you want to, fine.
  6. I think the biggest mistake parents can make is pressuring or tricking their child to ride something when they are totally terrified. I think honesty is always the best policy. When my niece was little I would try to show her what the ride did and if she was afraid I would not force her to ride it. Today she is crazy about coasters. I would advise you to start your friend out small ( such as Woodstock Express, Adventure Express, the ride which was formerly called Runaway Reptar-its Peanuts name escapes me) and work your way up to the bigger coasters starting with The Racer, then The Beast, then Diamond Back, then the coasters with the inversions. However, I implore you-if you friend is too terrified to ride, don't force him. There are people like my sister who hate and will always hate roller coasters and we need to respect their feelings. ( and don't forget-there can be adverse health consequences to riding something when you are absolutely terrified.
  7. Whatever music is decided I just implore management to play high quality music that all guests can enjoy if they have to wait in a long line. There is nothing worse than having to suffer through horrible music ( or no music at all.) while waiting in line for hours( Meaning no disrespect, please, oh PLEASE ( yes I am yelling) no hiphop-glad CP got the message and restored that wonderful Western music after playing hip-hop in the Maverick line last year.
  8. Celtic music of course, such as the breath-taking tunes The Mummer's Dance by Lorenna McKennit and Orenico Flow by Enya.
  9. I don't intend to make any negative comments ruin my excitement. ( Goody, goody, goody!!) I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the KI people that planned what promises to be an awesome ride. ( And thank you to Don for the cool shirt that you threw out last night which I got-almost strained my back picking it up but it was worth it. ) That being said just wanted to suggest Celtic music in the queue area as part of the theming such as Lorenna Mckenna's The Mummer's Dance-Celtic music is among the most beautiful in the world.
  10. Definately hope it is Banshee as would open the door for some great theming such as Celtic queue music.
  11. Absolutely loved Gatekeeper especially the keyhole barrel rolls and the second inversion. My only feedback is the pinching feeling in my chest that I sometimes feel during the last part of the ride although I don't think it is as bad as the beginning of the season. And even on busy days I have never waited longer than 45 minutes. It seems like a great capacity ride even with Fast Lane.
  12. Favorite candy: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs Favorite dessert: Chocolate Cream Pie.
  13. Nice thread to start after my thread on smelly ride restraints. Anyway, there is nothing like the oil smell on any wooden coaster. My fav sound would be the B & M roar.
  14. Who are you calling old? (lol. ) Just kidding-my exact sentiment. Remember, I am one of the few who went against the popular sentiment and voted for Mrs. Partridge over Mrs. Brady as the cooler mom.
  15. Yes-people might laugh but I usually end up getting the last laugh because I am not the one who loses unsecured stuff on rides.
  16. I am sure that I will be happy with anything planned rides or no rides. It will just be nice to see all the wonderful people I have met since I joined KIC.
  17. I know its too early to tell but this would seem to indicate that this accident had nothing to do with the ride operator's actions.
  18. Aren't most coasters set up so that a computer will disable dispatch unless the restraints are completely locked? Just wondering.
  19. You took the words right out of my mouth-I love that chhhhhhhh....... sound before Power Tower is ready to drop or lift on the other side.
  20. Actually I like Power Tower at CP better because of the air time.
  21. To quote the Paddlewheel Excursion captain after passing the guy fleeing from the skunk: Let's hear a peeeuuuu!!!
  22. Thanks for the input and I think Thrill Biscuit has a great idea about bringing clorox wipes.
  23. Sorry if this is a gross discussion but I am curious. As I stated in my Dollywood trip report, I noticed a foul stench on the restraints of Wild Eagle and Thunderhead which was the result of people's sweat-I think I may have noticed this on the lap bars of some of the coasters at KI. Do the ride operators regularly disinfect the rides? This is not in any way a complaint as I have noticed this on rare occasions at the park-it is not a consistent problem.
