Griffon video- This is a great laugh

I thought it was Mavrick..... but now, Renegade sounds right... I remember it was in Minnesota, and it was so cold that the nails wouldn't even go through the frozen wood. sorry bout the error....I was more interested in the Griffon though, wasn't paying as much attention during the other parts. -
Griffon video- This is a great laugh

This is the coaster, along with Maverick, that was featured on "Build It Bigger" It was great show. Not only cool to see the construction of two great coasters, but the way those steel workers ranked on the "girly boy" host was priceless. They asked him if was wearing those designer Jordache (sp) Jeans? -
An impossible dream? Not to this man
Tomkatt7 replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If he wants to be taken seriously, he should change the name. When he tells someone the name, and it is an obvious copy of an existing park, how original can they think any of his ideas will be? I have no idea what he has planned, but maybe a new name would help get past the first hurdle. -
Cool pictures, More than a problem with rust. That place seems to have a SERIOUS wasp problem!!!! LOL

This is totally off topic but did anyone else notice how according to this photo from google.earth, The Racer is Kings Mill Rd. Just a funny tidbit. I'm sure it's meaning the maintainence road beside it but still, last time I drove it it wasn't Kings Mill Rd. Anyway congratulations on everything! Good luck with all of you projects right now! All I can see in the photo is the old campground!!!!! ARRRGGGHHHHH I hate the fact that it's gone. Lots of great family trips there. The tram that took to the park and back, went by the concert area. I remember listing to someone my daughter loved at the time, and she was bummed that we didn't know it going on, so we missed the chance to go. confirmed by the tram driver: He said that the trams used for the campgrounds, and parking lots, came from Coney Island. He also told us that the name of The Beast came from their roller coaster named the Teddy Bear. hence the fuzzy paws and chains!!! Did he know what he was talking about? Who knows. He also told us that King Cobra was coming down, he was right on that one. Can't remember if he told me that Vortex was sinking though. Oh well, enough ranting....what topic am I in? Oh yeah, Congrats Train Driver. The BEST part of your life is just beginning!!!! Don't let the stressful times make you lose sight of the great times!!!!

Is this accident the reason that you can't walk up the steps to the lower observation deck anymore?

I don't mean to be incorrect. LOL If you mean to be incorrect, then you aren't being incorrect, you're being misleading. Just kidding around, sorry. I also like the one that the Adventure Express wasn't ever finished, but they opened it anyways

I've heard this argument before, several times, about brakes on The Beast. I've never added my opinion before, but here it is now. Leave it alone!!!!!! LOL The Beast is my favorite coaster of all time. Nothing else even comes close. I suppose it has to do with it being a kickbutt ride foremost, but also sentimental value comes into play. I was one of those kids that was scared to ride ANYTHING!!!! It took several trips, and lots of nerve to finally ride it. Now, I can't back to ride it again each year soon enough!!! I have never pulled into the station after a ride and said, "you know, it could be better if....." I'm too busy clapping and laughing, just like everyone else. People that ride it sevral times a year may think they can make it better, but remember, I'll bet everyday that the park is open, someone is taking their FIRST ride on The Beast. Find that person and ask them if the brakes should be changed!!!

Kings Island- Come Together, or Ride Alone! ( A play on Lost's Live together or die alone slogan.) Remember, they're on an island too.
-
This is one of my favorites. Kings Island owns SOOOO much land, that they are going to expand the park. In 5 years The Beast will be the center of the park, instead of in the back. The best part of this one is, I've heard it for 20 years. and it's always "In 5 Years....." LOL

Local Union pickets outside indoor waterpark
Tomkatt7 replied to Lake54321's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think labor unions in general have ran their course. I believe at one time they were a very important part of blue collar labor. The rules they fought for are now mostly covered by state and federal laws. Now they are more of a political group, caring little about the common worker they once fought for. Other union members used to honor picket lines by not crossing, or not using products being picketed. Now it's more like, "Well, they're not in my local, so who cares" They operate like personal private clubs, if you aren't in it, they don't care about you. And I think, in general, If you aren't in their club, you don't care about them either. -
I found the plans at The Vortex entry!!! I ran them to The Racer where I passed them off to : (somebody else take them now) LOL

Probably doesn't count in this poll but, I miss the campgrounds. You could get a two day pass, get trolleyed back and forth, and not have to lose an arm and leg to enjoy a nice mini-vacation for the whole family. Not a wallet raping experience, probably why it's gone. LOL

Doesn't really matter what they rename them. People will always call them by the name they remember by. Look how many people still say The Beastie.

The walls were lower than the "recomended" height, of 16'. Theirs was 12'10". Plus they had the moat. The A.Z.A. never raised a concern about the height of the walls, so I don't think that would be enough for a lawsuit, unless the tiger got out another way because of human error. Jack Hannah was on the news here. He said he has been to that zoo several times, and that they have world class facility. Knowing the type of enclosure that they have for the tigers, he is very confused as to how the tiger could have got out of the enclosure without help.

Man Dies On Expedition Everest
Tomkatt7 replied to Beast08's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
A friend at work was sitting down to Christmas dinner the other day. He is a bit over weight, and has high blood pressure. He suffered a heart attack, and had to be rushed to the hospital. 28 years old. Now, Did Christmas give him a heart attack? Roller Coasters are very intense. The intensity can be too much for some people to handle. But If you look at all the people that ride every day, and step off fine, I don't think it's really fair to say a coaster killed him. A bad heart killed him. It could have happened while he was sitting down to dinner. -

Columbus Zoo Posts Zoombezi Bay Info
Tomkatt7 replied to chuck61485's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I went to the zoo last weekend for "Santa Paws". What a neat time it was. They gave some of the animals "treats" wrapped up in Christmas paper. We arrived in the daylight, so we were able to get a peek at the construction over at Zoobe...Zoome.....zome....Wyandot Lake. They look like they are really making some progress. Added a bunch of new stuff, and you can see where the 2 parks are going to join together. My daughter was most excited to see the addition of a big "toilet" or "funnel" ride. I was happy to see the fresh coat of paint on the Sea Dragon!!! We always avoided Wyandot before. Not enough to do to justify the cost. Looks like I may be changing my mind now! -
Sounds like a great trip!!!! Too bad you didn't go last year. After the Barney ride started sinking, they added some brakes, and removed the loop. I heard that they are gonna remove it next year, already took out some of the theming. It was really good before that, but too many people got hurt on it!!
-
Did they ever have a "Tilt a Whirll"? That was always my favorite "fair" ride as a kid. I don't remember KI ever having one. I think GL used to have one though. Along with the umbrella ride.

Geauga Lake Sets Steep Price For Rides

Well, considering how many people lined up to ride it last year, you may want to reconsider? LOL -
Buckeyetown USA!!!!!

I think it's a pretty funny joke. KI did say that HH is for mature people only. My guess would be, if you are that easily offended, a haunted house, or anything Halloweeny might be a bad idea. My mind keeps flashing to a line in a movie called "A few good men". Tom Cruise ends up yelling at Demi Moore, "It doesn't matter what I know, All that matters is what I can PROVE" I don't think anyone could PROVE that the list points at the actor Owen Wilson. There are probably hundreds or thousands of people in this country with that name. Same with all on that list, except for one maybe.... How many people could possibly be foolish enough to name their kid Paris???? Who be silly enough to sue over something like that anyways?
