KD's Italian Job to change names in 2008
Tomkatt7 replied to Delirium_Guy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They could call it L.A. Gridlock? There is always a HUGE line for that ride. I haven't got to ride it yet. The line is too close to The Beast. I can't wait an hour to ride IJ when I can wait 10 minutes to ride The Beast !! LOL -
Enthusiasts Buy Holiday Drive-In Near KI
Tomkatt7 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There is still a drive in here in Columbus, on South High Street. It runs all summer long, and is packed every friday and saturday night. With the technology getting cheaper and cheaper for high def projectors, drives ins could make a big comeback soon. I hope so anyways. http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/ohtsout -
forgive me, but what is maXair?

sour grapes, thats all death to all parks now that they've lost theirs.... I dont think all GL fans think that, but a lot of them do.

Here's a good story about them. When I was about 12 or 13, I was too scared to ride ANYTHING If it didn't stay on the ground, forget about it. My sister took me to KI, saying she would break my fear! We rode the normal stuff. Scrambler, monster, spinning barrels. I got a little nervous on Shake, Rattle, and Roll. It went a little too high, and a little too sideways for me. We got off of that and right there, was the Eagles. I was still shaken up a bit, but she told me, Look, you control how high it goes. I'll let you control it, if you want to stay low, thats fine, she says. I agree. So here we go. I start out fine, keep that baby all the way over to keep us low. Then she starts in with,"just let it go out a bit, and then bring it back. I pulled it all the way over. Bam!!!! Out we went. So fast that I lost my grip on the handle! When I grabbed it out of desparation, I brought it all the way back in. Boom!!!! In we go. I lost total control of the darn thing, and was fearing for my life the whole time......It's kind of tough for a kid to be screaming uncontrollably, thinking you're gonna die. The whole time the person sitting next to you is laughing her butt off!!!! Anyway, got off that crazy thing and went about our day....By the end of the day, I had ridden The Racer, AND The Beast. I have been a coaster junkie ever sense. That was in the mid 80's. Would you believe that after all that time I NEVER got back on those Eagles!!!!LOL Those things almost made me pee my pants!!!! I got the snapping of cables by accident, and if you aren't trying to do it. It's pretty darn scary!!!!! LOL

At 13, most kids say and do things that would make their parents blush... Now, I said MOST kids, not YOUR kids, so don't start screaming at me. Point is, if they go to school, they hear much much worse than what they'll hear and see at HH I have an 11 year old. I would take her, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be in a fight if someone asked her about carpet matching the drapes. You could count on a shot in the chops for that!!! LOL But to just hear it, from employees, to one another, as part of the "show". It wouldn't bother me at all. You just need to use your own judgement, everyone is different. Some are more easily offended than others. But. I don't think Halloween is about being polite and proper, it's supposed to be a little bit evil and sinister, isn't it?

Where are the SOB getting Villian's trains threads?!
Tomkatt7 replied to tigellinus's topic in Rumors
I got it all figured out!!!! The Villian is going to Kings Island. They are gonna use 3/4 of the track to FINISH Adventure Express. The rest of the track will be used to "enhance" The Beastie (or whatever it's called now) The trains will be modified with engines to shuttle people around the parking lot to get to their cars. After the 2008 season, both rides and the parking lot will be removed because too many people said they were now too "bumpy"!!!! LOL -
Brave Six Flags Birds Get The Worms
Tomkatt7 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I could eat any of the bugs I think.... But Bullballs? I'll BUY my tickets thank you very much!!! LOL -
I looked through some the old photo's but can't find one I'm looking for. I always point out the big water wheel in The Beast queue to my daughter, and tell her how there used to really be water that ran through it. Also the lake all around the station where people would throw their change. You can still see where the "old timers" still do it, even though the water is gone. I would really like to see more photos of the station with the water. Why did they take it out? I thought it added alot to the ride. Or at least it helped pass the time waiting in line.
-
That's cool,as long as they don't build one floating on the water!!!! They could call it Titanic!!!!
-
So I have to ask: Why were you crying? Was it the pain, or the fear of what might not work anymore on your body after riding SoB? LOL Just the wind, at least thats my story!
-
I've ridden SOB once, when it still had the loop, I remember it being VERY fast!! So fast that the wind whipped tears out of my eyes, and dried them to my face!!! I was in the very front seat, so maybe that is the reason, but I don't remember it being overly bumpy. I think it's just a personal prefrence as to what everybody likes, and doesn't like. I hear people rave on and on about King Cobra here, and I hated that ride. Nothing like having to dig your, ahem, "privates" out of your butt crack at the end of the ride!!!! To me thats the best part of KI though, the variety. King Cobra was a ride I didn't like, but I could still spend all day riding, and not feel like I missed anything. I like SOB, but my daughter is still too scared to ride it. We ride everything else, and still leave happy. Some day she'll be ready.

Dismantling Geauga Lake...

Dismantling Geauga Lake...
Tomkatt7 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's all about design, a small drop with the right turns and banking can give you a better sense of speed than just a huge drop. My favorite part of The Beast (besides the double helix) is the long straight stretch tht runs along the service road. No huge drop there, but you just feel like you are FLYING!!! -
Dismantling Geauga Lake...
Tomkatt7 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Save the Dipper is a nice thought, as long as it doesn't end up at KI. I don't think it would hang with The Racer too well, lot's of woodies at KI. They should leave it where it is, and build a Geauga Lake museum. Lots of pictures of the original park and stuff. I hear a lot about a park that used to be at Buckeye Lake in central Ohio. The park is gone, and no history remains. I hope they don't make that mistake at GL too. -
We went right after Six Flags bought it, may have been Villians first year, not sure though. We camped at the Silver-something campground, went to GL one day, and Sea World the next. I suck at details, so I couldn't give you an exact year even....LOL All I know is there were 10 of us in our group, and we all came home upset. So much so that none of us ever went back, and we all just kind of sighed and said,"yep, figures" when we heard it was closing. What I remember about the Villian was a great sense of speed, and never-ending hills. Maybe it wasn't that great though, the rest of the trip was so bad maybe I'm just clinging to one thing I enjoyed!!!! LOL PM if you want the details, I won't go trashing the park on a public forum. Too many people are upset bout the closing, and I don't want to pour salt in the wounds...At least, no more than I already have.

Dismantling Geauga Lake...
Tomkatt7 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
villian was a fun ride. I wonder if it would be possible to move that one, the way they can move an all steel coaster? -
Seems like Geauga Lake is the newest "Flea Market" for amusment parks. Everyone jumping over each other to get the goods for nothing!! If that park was such a dump that no one wanted to go, then why does everyone want their old rides? The best ride I was on there was The Villian, and I think somebody already has dibs on that one!!!
-
Yuck!!! Who gets to clean up after the ducks? The new guy?
-
wonder if they need help moving? I have a pick-up!!!

Geauga Lake Petition
Tomkatt7 replied to ClevelandRocks10's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am not surprised by this move at all. That park was HORRIBLE the last time I was there. I don't know how the "competition" for park to park is figured, by that I mean by people saying that GL did not compete with CP, but I can say, for a few people it does. I live in Columbus, it is pretty close distance-wise to go to CP, KI, or GL. We have visited them all. GL never offered anything better than the other 2 parks. But they did offer a whole lot worse in terms of bad maintenance, dirty walks, nasty workers, and a feeling of total neglect by everyone there. The last time I was there, it was still a Six Flags park, and they were really trying to build up the park, but nobody was buying it. I do feel for you, and I hope that the Big Dipper gets to stay close enough for you to still get to ride it from time to time. Like everyone else has said though, I think you are facing a losing battle. Maybe if the park took customer service a little more seriously in the past, they wouldn't be in this position now?
