Now, Now Milton. Lets not get carried away! LOL Seriously, I think that just because it is a small ride, it will stay a part of kiddie land. It does sound kind of funny though, it is supposed to be Peanuts themed. All I hear about is Snoopy Log Flume, Snoopy Coasters, both Avatar and Fairly odd coaster. Snoopy helicopters. C'mon guys, you gotta come up with some character ideas other than just Snoopy! LOL

I'd also have to say Racer. I'll go a bit farther and say Blue Racer, or Forward Racer. It has been at the park from the beginning, and I can't make a trip with out riding it.

You sure are good at making everyone feel better

Are these fictional novels, or fact books?

2009 Golden Tickets
Tomkatt7 replied to PhantomTheater's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
These awards are funny. When your favorite park wins one, everyone is happy. If it doesn't, then you just kind of say, well they don't really matter. I am of the mindset that I'd like The Beast to fall off of every top 10 list. Keep Diamondback away from too many awards too. The kids area is a lock to go away now too. That way, all the people will go to these other parks to ride the award winners, and the island will be a little emptier. I am selfish like that! LOL I know what I like, I don't need an award to tell me weather a ride is good or not. I loved Villian, and SoB. That should tell you how much I depend on popular opinion to determine what I think are good rides. -
King Cobra. Or is it Kobra? Anyways, the stand up one at Kings Island. Got hurt on it, never rode it again! LOL

Planet Snoopy (bringing your children?) in 2010.

Because the younger fans of KI (and please, I'm not trying to insult anyone) don't realize that prior to Nick, KI already had arguably the best kids area anyway for many years. If you disagree, that's ok. But just take a look at the CET video on the planning and early years of KI. It is mentioned numerous times on how the park was literally planned around Hanna-Barbera Land. Just to add to that, I think that the Hanna-Barbera characters were also among the first to grace the Cartoon Network. It was the first all cartoon channel on cable. That was a long time ago, so I may be a bit fuzzy on that one. -

I am seriously thinking of turning you in to The Department of Children and Family Services. I probably shouldn't mention some of the stuff my 6 year old does like to watch or you'd really be calling - the boy watches more Football (of the American and real variety) and NASCAR races than some would consider healthy. hey, the little brats don't come with an instruction manual. We do the best we can -

I will answer this one. It's pretty easy I will still take my kid to Ki for peanuts. I am not happy about it. I hate to see Nick U leaving. I'm sure she will still have fun visiting the gang that she has no clue as to who they are, but it will still be kiddie land, so she'll have fun. My whole problem isn't that the kids won't like it.They will, just not as much. It also gives a Wal-Mart feel to all the parks. If you go in to a wal-mart in Columbus, Ohio. They have the same stuff on the shelves as they do in Lincoln, Nebraska. That is what Cedar Fair seems to be doing to all of their parks. Going in to kiddie land at KI will now be the same experence as it is at Kings Dominion, Cedar Point, Carowinds. So, If I have children, and I do. What is the allure to visit say Carowinds next summer? If I want to enjoy another park, with different attractions, I am going to need to go to Six Flags maybe, or Busch Gardens. By putting a "generic" kids land in, the powers that be have saved money on licensing, but also lost money in return visits by families. Nobody wants to visit the same park over and over. That is pointed out by everyone on here talking of trips to Cedar Point, Holiday World, Six Flags, etc. By the same token, imagine talking to a kid. "Guess what honey, first we are going to Kings Island where you can see Snoopy. Then we will go to Kings Dominion where you can visit, um, Snoopy. Then we'll shoot up to Cedar Point where you might see.....uh....Snoopy" If Kings Island, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds all had the same roller coasters, would you guys all still take trips each year to the different parks? -
I remember riding Double Loop as a young'un. I will always remember it as being my first "big" coaster. Aside from that, I liked Villian, it was fast, fast, fast when I rode it. We were in the last car, and it just ripped us all the way through the ride. Other people have said it is rough, but it was right up my alley. Everything else was closed when I went, so I never got a shot at any others

The only problem with that would have been, the decision to close the park had already been made. Then people show up in droves to get one last look at the park. All of a sudden it turns in to how can you still close the park? Attendance was up 300% over the last month? I don't want a sad day at Kings Island. I am really upset about Nick U leaving. I am not going to make a special trip for one last look at it though. I would spend the day being upset at all the stuff that would be leaving, and not enjoy everything else that the park has to offer. I'd rather just keep the memories, and photos that I have, and remember that no matter what, those good times will be with me forever.

Thanks for posting the map, I decided to use it, to try and make everyone understand why I hated my GL trip. As I've said, it was 2001. They were still 2 parks, so admission only got you in to one park. We towed the camper up, stayed a few days, wanted to hit Seaworld, and Geauga Lake. Our first impression of the park was nice. Had a real "Old World" feel to it. We had little kids with us, so the first thing they saw was the cars that you can drive, right inside the gate. Closed....Should have been a sign to turn and run right there, but nope, we stayed all day. Some things I noticed during our trip: The Batman roller coaster was new. They had a Batmobile out front, and even had a little show going on. Someone Dressed up as Batman fighting someone dressed up as the Riddler. It was cool, except for the fact that they did the show to showcase their new ride which was closed all day. Big Dipper was a ride that I had heard of before, a classic woodie that has stood the test of time. Well, almost, closed all day. It was a nice little treat to be walking through the park, holding the hand of my 5 year old daughter, trying to enjoy the park, well all of it except for the employee dragging his dust pan behind him across the pavement as he walked along past the litter, and rapping, bouncing to his own little beat. He was good too. Didn't miss a sing "F" bomb in the song he was singing. Double Loop, Raging Wolf Bobs? Nope, no dice. Closed. World Class Water area? maybe, it looked nice from the monorail, but it was closed all day too. I was told by park employees that a small girl had drowned the day before in the wave pool. OK, no joke here, that is horrible. Was it nessasary to close the whole water park down though? I can understand closing the wave pool to investigate, but the whole water park? We got to ride Villian, I thought it was great, and ThunderHawk. Very Cool also. Woody Woodpecker mini coaster. That was a fun small coaster to take my kid on. Really though, thats pretty much it. Every other major attraction was closed. When I got home, I was so upset that I wrote a letter to Six Flags. Not an E-Mail, I feel those are so easy to fire off that a real letter might be taken more seriously. I told my terrible story. The poor staff, the broken rides, the HUGE lines for the few rides that were open. My hope was to get an apology, and maybe, hopefully, some discounted tickets to try again. I guess they figured that my experience was as good s it was gonna get, because I never even got a response from them. Yes, I included my e-mail address and phone number in the letter, just to make it easier on them. I even called about 2 weeks later, to make sure they got my letter. The girl on the phone assured me that I used the correct address, and that there would probably be no response. They read all mail, compliments and complaints, but can't reply to every letter. So, having gone through all of that, I ask you. If this trip happened to you, would you go back? Didn't think so. Here is my custom rendering of what the park looked like during our visit.

Good question. Why don't they enforce rules against line jumping, improper dressing, parking in the gold pass lot, taking pictures on rides? Lots of rules, very little abiding by the rules.

I went to the park in 2001. I think thats when it was. It was the first year of the "Batman" rollercoaster. During that trip I vowed to never return to the park again. It was terrible. Living in Columbus, there are too many options, too many parks we can visit for us to deal with the B.S. that was going on there. This was before I was a member of this site. I did not distinguish between Geauga Lake, Six Flags, Cedar Fair, or anything else. In my mind. Geauga Lake is a horrible park. Why go back?

I think as you get more and more replies to this subject, this is what you will find. Many people think that Six Flags built the park too quickly, adding coasters to compete with Cedar Point, without maintaining, or remodeling the older parts of the park. The surmounting debt, along with a disgruntled public not willing to pay premier prices for a sub-par park caused it to lose more money than it was worth. Six Flags bailed on the project, selling it to Cedar Fair, who tried to correct the problems, but couldn't. They decided to keep the water park open, but do away with the rides section. The other group of people will say simply, Cedar Fair is evil. They took a chance to buy a park that was close to their flag-ship. After buying it, they dismantled it with no intentions of ever trying to keep it operating. There was no sense in operating a park so close to their other park. So they moved the coasters out, that they could move, and trashed the rest. History be darned. You will probably have no luck in finding any facts to support either theory, I just know of these by reading about it on here, and from my own park experience. I think everyone fits in to one of the these two groups. You just need to figure out what sounds closer to the truth to you.

Our calendar ends every year, on December 31st. Why hasn't the world already ended?

Seriously, they're laser guns. At least, that's what they'll be when Snoopy takes over. Oh sorry, I thought you said "lamer" guns!! LOL
-
Good luck convincing me that they aren't guns! I was out for blood!
-
They will at least wait, until their season pass sale for next year is over?

If you truly believed your own words, you would change your avatar, and pick a new NFL team!!! Don't get upset now, I'm just joking around. Trying to have a little fun.

My little one should be ready for the big rides next year. I don't know who is more excited, her, or me! -
I wouldn't even be able to see the letters on them, to know if they were correct or not!
-
Some would disagree and say they are exactly right about America!!!! I love me some buffet

I often wonder how many rides we will get on the back of the train before we get hit by something! After looking at the phone box in the line, I know that oneof these times we will be going up a hill and "crack", cell phone right in the chops. I wonder what happens if you do lose a flip flop on the ride? Do you have to walk around the rest of the day lopsided? Or do they make you choose buying a pair of their shoes v.s. leaving?
