  1. Thanks, I like the flag too, but truthfully the reason I picked this photo was the background. I like the edges having the two big steel coasters, and the middle having The Beast train with the trees (woods), behind it. Sums up KI to me!
  2. I love to hear first time riders. The anticipation they have going up the lift. the nervous giggles. The blood curdling screams going down the first hill. Thats what its all about!
  3. Yep, I will watch it on the web, but after that, being in Columbus, I may not see it on TV. A DVD would be a sure purchase for me.
  4. Thanks for all the comments. They were nice to read. I had dinner with my nephew tonight, and we talked some more about Drum Corps. He says he would love to try out after high school, providing band gets going again, and he can keep his chops. His Drum Corp of choice? Blue Coats I just thought it was funny that his Phantom shirt started this whole discussion, and when we met him tonight: Only a teenager would go in to a nice restaurant with his own drink from McDonalds!
  5. I can't wait! I love history, and Kings Island. Best of both worlds! I'll be sitting down with my eggs and sausage first thing Friday morning to watch!
  6. If you watch the on-ride video on their website, I think the final helix looks great. the amount of banked turns and dives are really going to add to the excitement, and force of this ride. I think DB will have more air-time, but I think this one will keep you pinned in your seat a little more. I could be wrong, and I usually am, but I think this is going to be a perfect mixture of airtime and g's.
  7. It is more scary than it is painful. Graying out, is actually a great term for it, because thats what happens. All the color kind of washes out of your vision. With your eyes straight ahead, you can focus on whats in front of you, but your proifea....I'm not even going to try to spell it, but you know what I mean, gets blurry(sometimes called tunnel vision). You also get a feeling of Lightheadiness and or dizziness. Thats how it was for me anyways. It is something that usually comes and goes very quickly, but sometimes if it is severe enough, it can stick around for a few minutes.
  8. That has been his number one concern right now. How is he going to be able to compete for a spot on a drum corp, if he can't even practice in his band in HS? He is still practicing at home on his own, and his parents say they will move him to a different school next year if they have too. The sad part is, all the other parents will do the same for their kids, and we will have to witness the death of a very long and proud tradition in Grove City. Once it's gone and parents move away, who will pick it back up?
  9. Looks Pretty familiar. I'll go out on a limb and say this will probably be a pretty good ride!
  10. I will say before I even start, that I like Nick U, and wish it could stay. My only reason for that is the fact that I have a 5 year old. She loves SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Dora. There are a few others that she watches too, but those are the main ones. The show that gets the most attention at our house though is iCarly. A house full of girls can be rough sometimes. The reason for posting is about reading the comments of recognizing the different characters. Yes Those I mentioned are much easier to relate with, than is Snoopy. She knows Snoopy, and Charlie Brown, but throw a Pepermint Patty at her, and she would be clueless. It is worth mentioning though, that there is more to Nick U than those guys I mentioned. Like I said, she is 5. She has no clue who the Wild Thornberries are, or if you can believe it, she has never seen the Rugrats. She still loves the rides, but has no idea where the theming comes from. I believe that the Nick U will be more exciting for the kids, but as long as the rides are fun, and the area is a "happy place" thats the most important thing. I've already started thinking about ride ideas. They could re-theme Avatar,(another one she doesn't know) with a PigPen ride. replace all the air currents with little puffs of dust. They could even go generic on some rides. Maddie doesn't know the Rugrats, so she calls Runaway Reptar the dinosaur ride. they could just keep a rough dino theme, and remove the Rugrats Characters, and that one would be good to go. A generic theme would also work on the log flume. Snoopy as the Red Baron would be great for the helicopter ride. Riders could sit inside the doghouse, while the Red Baron rides on top. Kids could get off of that, and swing into a pub for a rootbeer. I don't think the area HAS to be Nick U, but it does HAVE to be fun. Maybe CF can just consult the magic meatball on what they should do?
  11. What differences are there between regular, gold, and platinum passes. I am thinking of Christmas gifts for the kids. Just wondering what the best options for us would be.
  12. LOL, Well, that wasn't me. I was holding the kid. Momma took that one!
  13. Now, I know that we are supposed to think that the whole dressing in drag thing was just for the movie, but c'mon man, if this was something unexpected, then how did you find womens shoes that fit your man feet? Just kidding around, looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I could have been there too. The park that is, not the movie
  14. I have always liked those types of photo's. I usually see them with the skyline, or moving water. It is a really good shot. I wish I had an eye for that type of thing. We love photography, but I don't seem to have the talent to see things in their artist capacity.
  15. I voted for a new woodie. We have enough of them there, hopefully, if they fix Sonny. I would re-vote if you put an option up there for "Peanuts" themed rides. I know it's coming no matter what, but I hate to see Nick U go
  16. nice pics. How long of a time lapse did you use on the ferris wheel?
  17. That was an awesome report! I end up missing EVERY KIC event, and then kicking myself for doing so. You guys seem like you have a very good time, and I would LOVE to see the sign shop, and see all the history. Thanks also for the CP pics, I haven't been there sense 88 or so, I keep wanting to go, but never make it. Good Times, indeed.
  18. I am not very observant. Walking by one of the store fronts on my way out Sunday, I noticed a model roller coaster in the window. I stopped and looked, and thought I was looking at Firehawk. It was yellow and black though. Is this the original model for X-Flight? Like the one they had on display for Diamondback last year? Or is it just a model roller coaster kit, like an erector set? LOL Just wondering.
  19. Some people use a pencil and paper that they keep in their pocket and mark on the brake run (including at least one poster here), others keep notes in their phones/blackberries, others keep a running total in their head (on a day by day basis it is simple math), others have a spreadsheet on their computer at home, etc... Bottom line, how do you know it's 1,000 and not 999 - because they said so. Thank you for the answer. I was truly curious as to how people kept track. l usually take people at their word unless I know that they have lied to me in the past. Unless the claim is so incredulous that it is just impossible to believe. 1000 rides for someone who is retired or on summer vacation is very achievable. I'm sorry if I came across as someone who was doubting their word on ride counts. That was not my intention. I was just looking for an answer to the question my son asked me. I am pretty skeptical by nature. I certainly hope these people are in fact, getting their 1000th ride, I just don't have 100% faith in peoples honesty. There is nothing in world stopping me from coming on here, and saying that I just took my 1000th ride. I have been off work all summer, and could have easily been to the park every day.Pretty sure that no one else could prove me wrong. The park probably wouldn't want to either. The person getting the ride gets publicity, but the park does too. A news story showing that the park has a ride that someone, or 2 people would find fun enough to ride 1000 times makes that ride pretty exciting to someone just sitting at home watching the boob tube. I hope I don't come off sounding like sour grapes. I just don't know that I buy this whole ride count thing.
  20. If it does re-open, it will probably be re-tracked, trimmed all to H E double hockey sticks, and be a shell of it's former self. No matter what happens, it won't be the same as it was. I was lucky enough to ride it with the loop, and I am thinking I had better hold on to that memory. I don't think the future is gonna be happy for anybody.
  21. I must be getting too old. I would not even consider "untoward behavior". Shoot, I'm just taking a guess at what it means. I ride SDaHC for 2 reasons. My kid loves it, and I get to sit sit quietly and soak up some much needed air conditioning. We always save that, and Flight of Fear for the hottest part of the day!
  22. It's funny how different people like different elements. I have noticed a huge ride difference in DB depending on where you sit. I don't care to be "ripped" out of my seat like you get on the rear of the train. I think it's a much more enjoyable ride to float up gently, and stay in the air like you do in the front. Having said that though, I am a big fan of the violent, shake you to death rides on Beast, and SoB.
  23. King Cobra. I think it was 1990. Maybe 91. At the bottom of the loop, my vision started getting blurry. In the helix, I got tunnel vision, and I don't remember any more of the ride. I can only remember being in the station, all bloody from where my head fell down, and I busted my mouth on the hand-holds. I heard lots of screams from other people, lots of fuss from the ride crew. I tried to get away from the medics, because I was embarrassed that I had been hurt, and tried to convince everyone I was fine. I don't remember them digging all the holes in the concrete, but I sure seemed to be stepping in a lot of them when I tried to walk away!! They gave me a new shirt, and let me go on about my day after they checked my eyes and ears, and I had sat down for about an hour. That was my first, and last, ride on King Cobra!
  24. Probably worked for Kings Island's QTV. Well, now. That doesn't sound very exciting at all. Kidding, thanks for telling me, we were over there just watching the ride run and saw him. Looked a little "out of place" Had us wondering if something new was going on or not. We watched Firehawk on a Travel Channel show that was filmed last year,or the year before. Couldn't imagine them still talking about it for a TV show with the new big snake in town!
  25. Point taken!!! LOL thanks for the advice. I will never utter the "B" word again!!
