  1. Emergency situations require serious measures that people won't like. The US fought multiple wars by literally enslaving young men and forcing them to fight. I think we can all handle the consequences of masks and moderately-tested vaccines. That's not to say I support full-blown, government-enforced mandates. If you want to stay on your own property without a mask or vaccine, feel free to do so. But when you're out and about with neither of those things, you are contributing to a problem. Businesses and government agencies should be able to set rules to protect their workers and patrons.
  2. No one is saying the vaccine works 100%. We knew from the beginning that it does not. We also know that its not as effective against the delta variant. This is freely admitted. No one is saying masks work 100% either. But both are effective enough that they will and have saved lives. Herd immunity is achieved at the point where the people who are unvaccinated and the people for whom the vaccine will fail are so few that the vaccine has trouble getting from one person to another and eventually dies. The states and counties with big surges have larger numbers of unvaccinated people. We also know that the vast majority of new cases are among the unvaccinated. Yes, breakthrough cases happen and no one is hiding that but they represent a small percentage of cases and an even smaller number of hospitalizations and death. For a vaccine that was made so quickly, its astoundingly effective. This comes from real sources of data and not from that site your buddy linked on Facebook or your favorite political pundit. Here's a typical interaction I have with family members: "This scientist on facebook says you don't need the vaccine!" "Yeah, well here's thousands of scientists who say that guys a quack" "I don't trusts scientists!"
  3. I moved this ride up in my list recently. It's arguably more of a thrill ride than a family coaster but a good in between option. The launch is more than you expect and the other day I actually grayed out a tiny bit on that helix. I agree that a retheme would help. Yeah, its in prime real estate but the park isn't short on land.
  4. I only went to CP once with my platinum, so I wasted money there. I knew the renewal was coming but thought they might only give one visit to KI in 2021 (especially considering last years renewals or lack thereof). Also...people think KI is overcrowded? Have you all been to CP? On my worst visit to KI this year, Orion was 30-35 minutes or so of a wait. This week it was 5-15 minutes once the initial crowd that rushed to it spread out to the park. A lot of my waits on the major coasters were less than 5 minutes.
  5. I wonder how they would market one. "We heard you don't like I305...so how about this instead? We promise it won't make you pass out"
  6. My portions from Coney BBQ and Hank's have been more than I can eat in a sitting. Watched some relatives eat the pulled pork fries from Potatoworks and it seemed like quite a bit of food too. So I guess its hit or miss? Chik Fil A certainly seems like a ripoff by comparison but two wings is a crazy small amount of food. Though wings in general have been overpriced anywhere you go.
  7. It could definitely use additional track work in spots, imo. Probably good that someone's keeping an eye on it in addition to the daily inspections. Would be nice to see a breakthrough in actual wood track that could make it more durable rather than having to re-track so regularly.
  8. I noticed it too. But I believe some of those parks lost more days from the pandemic than KI did. Even CP had to close on certain days early in the season. And maybe they're waiting to make sure they can actually staff those extra hours.
  9. I voted for Bat (way better than Iron Dragon) but now that I see half the votes were for it, I guess its not that underrated. I should have voted for Flight of Fear. Obviously the line remains long for it this season but a lot of enthusiasts despise the thing and I've always loved it. I like the theming, the launch, the darkness and the disorientation it creates. Since people are talking about WWC. It's my favorite non-coaster ride at the park. I do miss that feeling of being out in the woods away from everything else but watching MT fly over while in line or on the ride is neat in its own way. For a long time I thought Thunder Canyon was better because of its cool fake canyons and waterfalls but after riding it the other day, that's all it seems to have. The boats are so big that they don't spin and the rapids do nothing to them and there are no water cannons. I don't think it would ever happen (pumping all that water gets expensive) but I would love to see some water falls added to some of the more dead spots in WWC (and some more theming would be nice).
  10. You mean a return of Skylab? I would welcome that. I would like to see some flat rides added to Action Zone and Rivertown though. As far as coasters, after reviewing my thoughts on Maverick this week, I do think a quality multi-launch coaster would be great, especially if it could be on that level. Though a Mack extreme spinner would also be a great option.
  11. Nothing wrong with disliking what you dislike. I don't care for Skyline (though I'll get the coney dogs when I want something affordable) but my 18 year old nephew loves it and there are others out there. LaRosa's is fine but if there was one in my small town with 8 pizza places, it would only be like the 4th best pizza in town. The smell is off-putting. It often makes me think there's some sawdust-covered vomit nearby.
  12. I'm not sure about that but The Beast is definitely not the kind of ride where you get a big savings with an RMC that uses the existing structure.
  13. Also helps that we're at that time of the season where the crowds thin out. I was there yesterday, Thursday 8/5, and got a lot done. The Bat and AE were hop-on and Banshee was a hop-on or 5 minute wait most of the day. My waits for Orion were 15 and 20 minutes. The Beast, 5 minutes (before dark). Mystic was 20 minutes earlier in the day and hop-on before close.
  14. If they had, they would have to explain why its going to another park.
  15. I had those chicken tenders from Corral on Tuesday. Large but the bread was hard, dry and tasteless. I barely finished half. The fries were actually good for me though.
  16. I too got row 17 yesterday. Ran well. I actually like to try different non-wheel rows but I asked for row 17 and as I'm walking towards it, I hear the young guy right behind me ask for it. Whoops.
  17. I would be happy with just about anything the park doesn't already have and isn't a national chain. Not sure what that would be. Japanese food would be interesting to see at a park. Not sushi but something like yakitori or other hibachi food. La Rosas is fine (even if the smell is unpleasant) but non-pizza Italian food could be good. I don't get why there's a Subway at all. A good, original sandwich place would be better. And I agree with people that there should be more indoor dining. Planet Snoopy could use one as could Coney (somewhere in the back would be good).
  18. Wicked Twister, assuming there's no line for either and both are right next to each other.
  19. Is her coworker named Karen? Crowds do skew younger at parks like KI these days but its an amusement park. Its going to be loud.
  20. Not even sure what "rude guests" means. Obviously there were a couple fighting incidents but those were on pretty crowded days and certainly aren't *that* common. Most guests at any park just keep to themselves, which can come off as rude, but its just how modern society works.
  21. That seems like a pretty far walk at a park that already has a lot of walking (1 mile from the front gate to SV). Is there much reason not to park further up in the overflow area on the left closer to the gate? Also, do they let you park near Famous Dave's and the Valravn gate? (though I guess that's not open early)
  22. I'll be (hopefully) riding SteVe in a couple days for the first time and if it lives up the hype, it would certainly go on here. The video that OP is referring to, from Airtime Thrills, is really looking at standout coasters by todays standards, so in that vein my picks are: -Diamondback -Millennium Force -Mystic Timbers -Orion Was never a huge fan of Maverick but I've only ridden it a few times so maybe I'll change my mind. TTD is great fun but its not complete enough of a ride. And I won't say much about Magnum except that it just doesn't make my list. If we could include specific scenarios, then a night ride or a rain ride on The Beast would be on there.
  23. My thoughts: 1. Paint The Racer its original scheme as many have mentioned. This one seems the most realistic. 2. Get our Eagle Flyers back from Carowinds without telling them 3. Backwards Racer. It may not have started backwards, but it ran that way for a long time. 4. A dark boat ride. The best dark rides are boats, imo. Phantom Theater would be cool to see back but that isn't happening. 5. Rename Woodstock Express back to The Beastie...but again it didn't start out that way so they probably won't. 6. Retheme Action Zone to match The Bat/Banshee (maybe a haunted, Victorian theme) 7. Do something fancy with the façade on the park entrance (keep the building/tunnel...just make it look nice above that). 8. Hire Peter Brady to do a one-man show.
  24. Forgive my intrusion but honestly if a "standout" means a ride in the top 5 or top 10 of all coasters, like your Voyages and SteVes, then not only is that too high of an expectation but it absolutely excludes The Beast. I love The Beast and defend it all the time but both the GP and enthusiasts have moved on. That's not to say it has low ridership, it definitely does not but I've never heard anyone younger than 40 say its their favorite in the park (I'm in my 40s. I'm just acknowledging that younger people have a less biased perspective) As for Orion, it's big and fun and would be a standout almost anywhere. I might like it more than Millie. However its still a lot like Diamondback which I think is a better ride and there are certainly things I would rather they have spent the money on. But I'll gladly ride it when I can and the GP seems to like it.
  25. Ah, thanks. I probably should have checked it out yesterday but was too focused on other things. I do want to check out Chef's plate.
