  1. After watching the marketing and hype for several roller coasters in the past few years, I can say that if a park suggests a certain type of ride (Aquatrax? Gee, See, Eye? TOGO?) then that means very little. If they are clearly stating it's NOT a certain type of ride, then that says something to me.
  2. After having the joy of riding the Strickers Grove eagles, the first time I've actually ridden one of those that I can remember, if someone says to me the Eagles are stupid and should be removed I would have quite a mouthful to say to them. Jackson, who would rather be snapping tubs, not shooting hoops.....
  3. The Ride Warrior Nation Forums are Up: http://www.ridewarriornation.com/rwforum/
  4. Why not? Holiday World did. If it's record breaking or a major ride, then I don't see why they wouldn't. And where does the GCI come from? Have we ruled out all other manufacturers? Jackson, hopping it's a GCI too, but trying to be realistic.
  5. Do you think at ALL before posting? Not only is that full of grammar errors and misspellings, but seriously, Kings Island buying another Invertigo to have it racing? Are you serious? Before you post, think to yourself, "Is what I'm saying rude or hurtful? Is it appropriate? Will it Contribute To The Topic At Hand?" And please, get a spell check! Jackson, getting rather tired of trying to figure out what someone is saying only to figure out that what they're saying is a load of nonsense.
  6. For most of Diamondback's Construction, they worked Monday through Thursday, about 9:00AM To Sundown, sometimes later.......
  7. As long as I'm in a bathing suit, I'm stoked about this ride. When I'm not, meh. Great addition to the waterpark, but me being me I like to see the Amusement Park side grow.
  8. Wait a sec...what POV? Have they officially announced it's a Proslide? Am I missing something here?
  9. Well we haven't registered yet. Now looking at the route for the 5K I'm on the fence here. 10K is harder but it has the best route. 5K's route is rather uninteresting.
  10. Alright, after walking a distance similar to what a 10K would be like, I have changed my mind, and I will be walking the 5K on Sunday. Anyone else doing it?
  11. The transfer track/station area track is usually the first to show up, and the first to go up. There's no evidence to support a launch yet, so I'm sticking to the default of a normal lift.
  12. An LSM Launcher for Kennywood, Of the Eurofighter style, built by Premier. http://www.palaceentertainment.com/kennywood/NEWfor2010.html Still no name and logo, but it sounds pretty cool. 0-50 in 3 seconds, 90 degrees up, 90 degrees down twice, 3 inversions sounds pretty good to me. More ride info: http://www.kennywood.com/docs/KennywoodCoa...lease081209.pdf
  13. I'm doing the 10K, simply because it has the most interesting route. I'll be walking almost the entire thing, so I'm not going to be training a ton.
  14. I don't think this has been mentioned before, I searched and I couldn't find a topic on it so if there is one forgive me. Kennywood is announcing today it's 2010 plans for supposedly it's new Coaster. Not much has been said on the subject but according to Screamscape it is supposed to be a new coaster, possibly a EuroFighter. Here are the 3 Screamscape reports on the subject, in chronological order: Sorry I can't find more on the subject, this is all I can turn up. Anyone have more info to offer?
  15. I'm a pro 52 Coasters at 10 parks in 4 states. When I count them in my ride list, I do not count racing coasters as 2 coasters. However, I do count dueling coasters (Like Dueling Dragons) as 2, because they are different ride experiences.
  16. I am pretty sure that it is not a launch. Why? B&M will NOT do launches. I believe the only B&M coaster that is launched is Incredible Hulk, and that launch was done by another company. The ride so far looks to be a hypercoaster, judging by the timetable of the construction so far and the track pieces that have arrived at the park. Those track pieces look nearly identical to those that showed up at Kings Island around one year ago this time. If I were to guess, I would assume this is the 3rd installment of a B&M Hypercoaster at a Cedar Fair park lately. Is it possible that Cedar Fair signed a contract with B&M to do 3 coasters at 3 of their parks within 3 years? I think Busch did the same thing with their Diving Machines, and Cedar Fair might have also done that with the GCIIs at Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, and was should have been California's Great America. My 2 cents on the subject.
  17. Extremely interesting and thought provoking at the least. I think the most interesting points of the page are whYte lightning, spelled with a Y, and the fact that they mentioned the bottled water company is from West Virginia. Anyone know any ride manufacturers from WV?
  18. I'll go ahead and bite at this topic: With the Son of Beast situation, it comes down simply to when do the Cons of having a problem child outweigh the Pros of having a record holding roller coaster at your park. Yes, Son of Beast is a record holder. Tallest, Fastest Wooden Roller Coaster on Earth. That's hardly something to be ashamed of. In fact, I think it's one of the reasons it's lasted this long already. The ride draws in a crowd because of it's records. But, it's a rough ride. Before you flame me, let me just say this. Every train I've come off on Son of Beast, and every crowd I've seen leaving the ride, has been mostly of people disappointed with the ride experience. As a matter of fact, after 3 or 4 years of watching people get off the ride, I've still yet to see a notable amount of people say positive things about the ride. Let's also not forget about the numerous lawsuits, complaints, and bad publicity the park gets from this ride. Case in point, incidents like what has happened here. The lady complained about the injury and it got inflated into a major ordeal. It doesn't matter at this point whether it was the ride's fault or not, people will assume it was the ride. That is not good for the park. Not to mention the countless maintenance troubles the ride's had, from before it even opened. One has to wonder what the maintenance costs are for this ride, compared to the profit it brings in. Now, if Kings Island sees it fit to keep the ride open, if the ride does in fact bring in a good profit, then so be it. If Kings Island decides it is not profitable anymore, or more trouble then it's worth, then it won't reopen next year. Simple as that. Kings Island knows what they are doing and will make the correct decision, I'm sure. Jackson, willing to post that much on the subject, and would like to point out that none of that is solid fact, but my thoughts, opinions, and inferences on the subject. That's the point of a forums board.
  19. I completely agree with the original post here. When I joined in 2007 KIC was a fantastic site. Even when I was being a "bad boy" in mid 2008 KICentral was a very well run, successful site. But it seems over the last year or so the site has slowly demised. Half of the posters here seem to half no clue what they're talking about, and arguments and flame wars have been sparking up like wildfire. There's been a ton of spam, and the mods seem to be sitting by and not doing much at all while all of this goes on. I also must point out that the information on this site (Such as the attractions page) has information from years ago, that hasn't been updated. I used to love this site, but recently it seems as though it's dying. I want to see the site survive, there's still a chance to save it, but something has to be done.
