The economy has plenty of effect on theme parks. Bad economy means more attendance at regional and local parks like Kings Island (As recent numbers have shown, if I recall), but less at Destination parks like Disney, Cedar Point, and Universal. Simply because regional parks are a way for families to have fun for a relatively small cost. To Put it quite simply, no. The idea of "If you build it, they will come" is no longer valid. That was coaster wars era, which ended with TTD and KK. These days people don't want bigger, faster, longer, they aren't concerned with records. Apparently they want unique, innovative, new ideas. A simple launch and big hill won't suffice very well. If only, if only. Most of the land Kings Island owns is difficult to develop, and Kings Island has boxed themselves in in a sense and it would be difficult to build in those areas. And plenty of money? God, I wish. You just said the economy has no effect on Kings Island. Now your throwing the economy into the mix, saying you don't know?

10. Wait, that's not an option? Darn. Well, I guess level 5 for me. Every once in a while I do prefer to take a small break from the more intense rides, but I love thrill rides. Diamondback, Flight of Fear, Drop Tower, Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, you name it, I'll ride it. Jackson, who defines the term Ride Warrior.

I really enjoy reading other trip reports. Yes, I'll admit, ones with pictures reel me in a lot faster, but I do read normal Trip Reports too. I ususally read Trip Reports from a day that I was there too (To get someone else's perspective on an experience), and sometimes from days I didn't go to see what went on and whatnot. I prefer Trip Reports from other parks or during events, because normal trips to Kings Island can sometimes get boring (Unless the author is a fantastic writer or photographer, which I've seen before). I've been told my Ptr's are good, but I actually prefer some other trip reports over mine. Jesse's (Avatar) trip reports are fantastic, and I really like Gator's KI adventures. Speaking of which, my CoasterMania! Trip Report should be up sometime today.

It's working fine for me. It's known to have glitches, Don says it'll continue to run for a while.

KDCOASTERFAN, why do you insist this is a Giga coaster? What evidence do you have that supports it? -

So do lots of people, but there has not been another coaster like it, not even at previously competing parks such as (insert Six Flags park here), let alone one of their other parks. Ohh, well, the ride opp said so, so it must be true. It just gets back to the ole' lemon chill guy. HA. The Guest Relations Manager most likely knows, unless this is one of the most secretive projects in industry history, which I doubt. In fact, most park employees know or will know at one point. They are contracted to secrecy however, and can not say such things. I bet you he was just messing with you. -

Does the General Public care that Kings Dominion has the most launch coasters? Or would they? Just a question. I don't see very many people around saying "KI has the most wooden track! Isn't that cool?!" They might, but I don't see it happening. Why does that matter, and whats wrong with doing something new? Nothing, I'm just looking at the history of it. There could be a new Intamin, it could very well be one. I was just saying that if we were going by history, I would doubt it. B&M Doesn't Refuse to build over 230 feet. Also, if your looking at steep lifts and drops, look at Diamondback. -

Xcelerator(Knotts bery farm) steel venom(worlds of fun), and possesed(dorney park but its re located from a non origonal Cedar Fair park Steel Venom was purchased by Six Flags, and moved to Dorney Park as part of the disintegration of Geauga Lake. Also, I have heard that Xcelerator is a prototype of the Intamin Hydraulic Launch system, used in Top Thrill Dragster the next year. -
Yes, I am. It will be huge. It's not going up today, though, because I am tired.

For now I'll just say this. When was the last time Cedar Fair built an Intamin coaster in one of their non-Cedar Point parks? -
I'm still waiting to see more on this site. I don't understand this creed thing, and that's about all there is to it.

An Intamin? At Kings Dominion? I find that, ehh, fishey. I would not be surprised if it is some sort of B&M, possibly even a hyper. Both Canada's Wonderland and Kings Island (Both previous Paramount Parks) recieved B&M hypers in the past 2 years, and Kings Dominion has been rumored to get one for quite a while. Also, this trying to asses what type of support is what coaster manufacturer is something I am not a fan of. Support styles can change with coaster type, terrain, and other unique specifications. Trying to determine a manufacturer from supports would be like determining an outfit from the shoes. -
I have decided not to vote in this poll, for several reasons. 1. Wood or steel? GAH! That question never fails to destroy me. I love both, for their own special reasons. 2. Airtime? Inversions? Why, all of them of course! Certain coasters are meant for certain things. Diamondback? Airtime (And a whole lot of it!) Vortex? Inversions. That's why I'm thankful for Kings Island so I can have such a great variety of rides. To choose between them would be, ehh, difficult. 3. The RacerS! There is just "The Racer" There is no S. I'm sorry, but I've been seeing a lot of that lately and it is peeving me.

I don't even think Angrybeaver likes Mean Streak too!

The Beast. Son of Beast is not only painful, but it just doesn't seem as fun to me. It seems more ride warrior like, The Beast is oriented to anyone. However, The Beast is trimmed to death, which is detrimental to the ride experience. Also, there are seat dividers and headrests, which the Son of Beast doesn't have.

This could actually be the only close to correct sentence in the article. -

Before you know it, they'll be saying that "Someone even died on a roller coaster in Kings Dominion!" Conviently leaving out the fact that the kid tried to get out, and suceeded. You can never prevent stupidity. Jackson, who's lost his hat on Ninja, and is going to go get it back....... -
Amazing ride, very little pain for the most part, and haunted? HA!
-
Seriously, I hate this ride. It hurts beyond all reason (At least it did last time I rode it, last year) and it is just not any fun to ride. When you ride a roller coaster, you should not have to "Sit in the front seat of the red train, loosen your seatbelt, leave a few inches of room between you and the lapbar, and before the rose bowl stiffen your back and legs and raise your bottom from the seat. That way, the Son of Beast somewhat mediocre and not painful." There shouldn't have to be a guideline of how to ride a roller coaster.

In Order: 1. Take off all of the trims on The Beast, send them to Dare-To-Fly's pit in Siberia, burn them (While roasting weinnies and marshmellows), stop on the ashes, and bury them 12 feet under (Because just 6 shows too much respect) 2. Overhaul Flight Deck. The whole shabang. Paint the ride, add another 1,000 or so feet to it, give it some more theming (At least to the point that it had as Top Gun), put in moving sidewalks (Like the ones at the airport) in the queue, the whole nine yards. 3. Add a Ferris Wheel out by where the Euro Bungee is and the Dome thing once was. Make it nice and big. Yes......... 4. Give the Kings Island Miami Valley Railroad some TLC. Don't make it just a transport from Kings Island to Boomerang Bay, add some theming. Some real people. Make it a show. Make it enjoyable. 5. Open up the 50 foot observation Deck on the Tower. Imagine how cool that'd be! 6. Give Adventure Express all it's orgional theming. 7. Remove the Crypt. In it's place, put a spinning wild mouse coaster inside the box. Theme it to mining expedition that's gone wrong. And don't just theme the queue, put stuff in the box to! 8. Retheme the Nickelodeon Universe to Hanna Barbera again. If that's not possible, Snoopy. Please. Anything but that Nick krud. 9. Remove Backlot Stunt Crap and put in the old Antique Cars. Remove the 3 Point Challenge (Which is loud enough you can hear it from the top of Vortex) and put the Eagles back in. 10. Remove Son of Beast and replace it with an Intamin Plug and Play. That way Terpys won't have to take a great adventure to ride one, and that's no bull. 11. Put a GG woodie similar to Voyage out in X-Base. Make it fly through the woods! Maybe even make it long enough to have it turn over the Little Miami? And NO TRIMS! 12. Remove Days of Thunder or whatever they're calling it now and put a GCII wooden coaster there. Make it decent in length, and at least try to plant a few trees around it.

10 Things Theme Parks Won't Tell You
Beast1979 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This all reminds me of watching a story about airplane crashes on the news, and them saying "Airplanes are becoming unsafe. There were _____(Some rather large number) of plane crashes in the US Last Year" without saying how many were safe, making it seem as though plane travel was hazardous even though it is much safer then riding in a car. And I agree with Terpy, this posts a very disturbing question of the credibility of the media. I thought the point of the news (whether it is on TV, in the Paper or Online) was to present non-biased information on events to the public. I guess that, no matter what field you are in, including the media, the objective is still to get people to buy or to watch, and they will do so in anyway, including showing shocking yet misleading data to the public. -

Are they trying to scare me? Of course they are, it's the media. A lot of the data shown is extremely misleading, or the fact that it's not the park's fault. It's written probably by someone who loathes amusement parks, and it shows. -
GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Beast1979 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So, would these mean that the 49'ers own the land, but Cedar Fair operates it, or the city operates it, or what? I'm confused. -
I'm still crossing my fingers that they get Millennium Force open sometime next week. If not, then I would love some ERT on Wicked Twister. That seems to be one of the good coasters left out of the ERT.
