  1. A certain poster here has done just that. Hint: It was not IndyGuy! Would you be referring to me and my plan to propose on the Eiffel Tower during fireworks, which failed because of Mrs. Gator's need for a sundae?
  2. Since we could include paint jobs of the past, I voted for Racer. It looked wonderful in it's first couple of years with the red and blue in addition to the white. Structure-wise, I voted for SoB. Sure, the structure is the problem, but it is impressive to look up at. That massive first hill (from both sides) just looks like a wall of wood. Even the painful rosebowl is great to look at.
  3. I watch that special whenever it's on, and yes, I watched it again on Wednesday. I love that show. I really should get it on dvd.
  4. ^I hope it's not gone for good. That was the best effect in there! It worries me though that the last two times I've ridden it, 6/10 & 6/24, it hasn't been on.
  5. I'm looking at the Blue Ash Red Roof Inn outside my office window right now. Seems like a decent place, but I've never stayed there.
  6. Well, I found it! I was at the park on Thursday with StalkerChick and AgentSoB. We had just gotten off BBoBH and started toward IS. I looked to my left, and I said "There it is!" StalkerChick asked "There's what?" and I said "The old drinking fountain that we've been talking about on KIC!" StalkerChick said "Cool!", and we went over to it. As you can see, it's the old kind with the foot pedal. StalkerChick was the first to take a drink, and I was next. StalkerChick said it tasted kind of well-watery, but I thought it tasted just fine! Of course, I was pretty darn thirsty at the time. We marvelled at the fountain for a little while longer, StalkerChick and I took another drink, and we went on our way. The bowl was full with water, but it did seem to be going down little by little. I feel like we discovered a little piece of KI history since I've passed it by countless times without ever noticing it. Thanks Oldiesmann for telling us about this. I'll be stopping by this fountain again!
  7. I don't think CP had a smooth transition from the Bears to Peanuts... I thought it was kind of rough, the old Bear Country area never was the same. Unless you meant Cedar Fair in general Oops! Yes, of course I meant CF, not CP! And now, thanks to you, I have The Berenstain Bears theme song running through my head! (Yes, I know the song... I have a daughter who would have loved to visit Bear Country at CP).
  8. ^It was something that I thought was funny but after I posted, I thought it might be taken the wrong way by certain readers of these forums.
  9. Love it! It's one of my favorite rides in the park, but I'll only do it if I happen to catch it at $5. I think it's much better than SlingShot.
  10. The first time was about 1/2 before park close, so that was probably the reason that time. The other time, the guy working there just seemed absolutely clueless. I'll give them another shot since so many people here are saying they are good...
  11. Whichever side is backwards. But seriously, I picked red as my favorite. I think it's a little smoother, plus, like beastforever389, I like how it starts next to the midway. Historically, I think red has won more times while I've ridden it. I have yet to ride Racer this year where they've actually run both sides. I think I need to go back...
  12. Wow... Cormaster called it two years ago! He's quite the prognosticator! But here's hoping it's not dead yet. Last year I swore I would give KK a second chance, but then the news came over the off-season that it would be closed.
  13. Chaos! One of my favorite flats ever, so I'd love to see it at KI even though I doubt it would ever happen.
  14. don't get too hyped up about Master Blaster. Yeah it's big and all, but it's completely forceless. Water jets barely get you up the hills! Bu it's very long, so it's fun. We had two hours of ERT on MB and the Boogie Bahn..ride MB once, then went over to Boogie for the rest. I'm looking forward to Master Blaster, but I'm more excited about Dragon's Revenge. I love themeing, and this will be my first themed water slide/coaster. Plus the fact that a lot of their attractions don't have a minimum height requirement (or if they do, my daughter meets most of them), so GatorGirl can do the water coasters with us. I won't let her do a large body slide or single-tube slide yet, but a double tube where we can ride with her, that's perfect!
  15. Oy, here we go again... Have you visited the park this year, Shaggy? Quite a few of the Peanuts naysayers I know from this past off-season have admitted that Planet Snoopy looks great. It looks better than even I thought it would, and I was a Peanuts defender! I agree with most of what you posted except for this. I don't think Planet Snoopy will cause them to lose the Golden Ticket, although only time will tell. The area looks great, and kids will (and have) accept(ed) the new characters. I've said it before, but kids will have a great time no matter what (if any) characters are at a park. As long as there's plenty to keep them occupied they'll have fun. But the kids don't vote for the Golden Ticket awards, the adults do, and the adults can be harder to win over than the kids. I can kind of concede that Nick might have more drawing power than Peanuts, but CP did a wonderful job with the transition. I don't know what they could have added in Nick's place that would have equal or greater drawing power (besides Disney, but that ain't gonna happen), so no matter what, CP had a difficult choice with the Nick contract expiring. I imagine their already established relationship with the Peanuts brand made the decision (and price) a little easier for them. You and I have known each other for years, so we can just agree to disagree on this item. That's rare for us, because I almost always agree with your posts!
  16. Very similar story for me. My mom rode The Racer in the summer of '72 while pregnant with me (I was born Dec. '72). I don't remember my first time riding one out of the womb, but I was probably 3 or 4 on the then-Scooby Doo and The Racer, back when the height requirements weren't what they are today.
  17. Thanks, Terpy. I'll have to look for that next time I'm at the park. I don't think I've ever noticed it before... and I worked at the park for 16 straight seasons and have been going as a guest for much longer! But there is a good chance I used that drinking fountain in the 70's or early 80's...
  18. A water coaster would be the perfect addition to Boomerang Bay. I'm sure my trip to Schlitterbahn in July will make me want one even more. Now if I can only talk Mrs. Gator into a trip west so I can ride Wildebeest... I better not, since I'm also trying to get a family trip to CP out of her!
  19. I've gotten those pretzels twice and they were some of the worst I've ever had. Maybe I was just unlucky when I went and didn't get the best employee making them. They were dry and hardly had any cinnamon on them. I'd much rather have one of those frozen Superpretzels over what I was served at the Pretzel Stand. The ones that were served in the Candy Shop on IS back in the early 2000's were very wonderful, and were the best pretzels I've ever had. This years' just don't compare.
  20. Oh wow, Terpy! You really went there... You're so bad!
  21. Nice TR! Can you do mine for me too? I still have two that I want to do and I'm way behind.
  22. Huh? What old drinking fountain in Oktoberfest? Your post isn't making sense to me, because Graeter's is on the edge of Planet Snoopy, not Oktoberfest. Do you mean a drinking fountain on that path to Planet Snoopy near Graeter's and the caricature stand next to it, or do you actually mean Oktoberfest?
  23. When did she move in to that house? If it was pre-1972, she would have a valid argument. If it was after that, and she moved in knowing full well that she was an amusement park in the vicinity, she has no argument in my opinion. Nothing against your grandma, but I never understood the complaints the park gets from residents in the area about noise. It comes with living near an amusement park! I live close enough that I can (faintly) hear the fireworks from inside my house, of course it's a little louder when I'm outside. I love it!
