  1. Oh, who asked you?! I love this reply. Thanks for the laugh!
  2. Sarcasm...I love it! Kirk...it's possible that if you don't know BavarianBeatle his post may come off wrong...but I know it was not meant to be mean. Thank you. I can't believe that anybody would take what I said seriously. It was obviously a joke meant to poke fun at Purple Haze and to make light of the situation (once I learned that the performer wasn't injured, of course). Kirk, many people find falls to be humorous, hence the existence of things like The Three Stooges, Americas Funniest Videos, and Wipeout. Please doon't take it personally, and be aware that humor of this nature is common on this site. --Beatle, who remembers the puns and jokes during the discussions of the KK accident several years ago.
  3. I couldn't have said it better myself. I also agree with Tyler and Mark about the PM issue. I get bashed and insulted for posting my opinion and being honest, which has all but chased me off from being a regular poster here. I really think some people on this site need to grow up and/or find a better place to start their drama.. that is not what the forums are for. All I ever read is "Cedar Fail" and "Son of Beast hot dog roast" and "I haven't been to (insert park here) but judging from the POVs, I can pretty much conclude that the park is not worth visiting" -- really? Is this is what being a roller coaster/theme park/amusement park FAN or ENTHUSIAST is about?.. I think not. Well said. This site has recently become infested with B&M fanboys who apparently have nothing better to do than troll about how they hate everything else. If people are too scared to ride Son of Beast or Vortex or any other ride, they are entitled to their opinions, but the treatment of those who disagree with them has reached a new low, IMO.
  4. Wow, having to know how to walk and sing karaoke at the same time for almost 15 hours a week. I bet the men on Deadliest Catch and UFC are glad they don't have a job that difficult. Oh, and.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqotKEKEvcM
  5. Racer. in its original form! Hands up!!!! Beatle, who has never ridden "Diamondback, hands down"
  6. Agreed. I always say, if the prize was something I needed, I would already have one. --Beatle, who stopped playing with stuffed animals before KI ever existed.
  7. Hopefully, for their sake, they never have. However, you, and others, seem to have the impression that the park has an absolute right to provide and withhold information from those who provide it with their hard earned nickles as the park sees fit. That assumption is simply not correct. And to my knowledge, KI has never done so.
  8. What they are describing is not "chaos theory," but the law of inertia that we all learned in elementary school. An object at rest remains at rest until acted upon by an outside force. Then, an object in motion remains in motion until acted upon by an outside force. Still an interesting article though. I didn't know that young children could not get motion sickness. And I laughed at the quote about how most adults have learned to avoid this type of situation. I guess the adults on this site are in the minority...
  9. As long as the advertising is true, you are correct. However, if the "inside information" renders the representations made to the public false or misleading, that is a different story. For example, a certain park that numbers its flags and still represents on its website that consumers can ride thirteen roller coasters would, in my opinion, be in violation of the law if it was located in Ohio.
  10. My dream? A park owner who is straight up and tells you what's going on. Do you think that, if it were at Holiday World, folks would've been left in the dark about Flight of Fear? The Crypt? Son of Beast? Yes. Why do you think you have a right to know? Just cause you're an enthusiast. Decisions are made by people trained and paid to make said decisions. This is a business. As park guests, we're not going to understand the full extent of decisions and taken out of context you get crap like this thread. Look at Helbig and Scheid's comments way back at the beginning of this thread, everyone immediately got all up in arms and jumped to conclusions. The ignorance of guests to understand the gravity of the situation considering they don't work for the park is probably why they're not telling you everything. It's a business. P&G isn't telling me what's gonna be their next new brand of Old Spice deodarant, yet I'm still buying the product even without their "communication." You want to know more about Cedar Fair's decisions, go work for them. If not, go to Kings Island and just have fun. They're gonna do with the rides what they want and do what makes the most sense for them as a business. Sounds like you're really saying that you wish they'd blab about more inside info. Consumers who purchase season passes have the right to know what product(s) and services they have purchased. There are things called comsumer protection statutes that prohibit dishonesty in advertisements and representations about the product. Simply put, if consumers purchase a pass they have every right to know what their nickles entitle them to ride, watch, etc. Lying to them or withholding information, under certain circumstances, can be a violation of the law.
  11. To answer your questions in order: 1. Yes 2. Yes, and 3. Yes --Beatle, who has never had the opportunity to do the "triple yes"... LOL But seriously, go and enjoy. The people at private events are not generally enthusiasts, so the lines for the coasters should be relatively short. And the conversation you will hear could fill the "Guests Say the Darndest Things" thread.
  12. I have ridden King Cobra, Mantis and Vortex at Carowinds. KC was fun when I was a kid, Mantis is a trim braked piece of trash, and Vortex is worse that Mantis.
  13. Sounds like something out of "This is Spinal Tap".... But from the band's point of view, it could be worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7F3O6WYfHQ
  14. I couldn't imagine something like that happening to one of my childen... My prayers are with that poor family.
  15. Which will die first? This thread or SoB? Not to mention the 30 or so threads that would inevitably follow if this one was to be taken down...
  16. Exactly! Literal truth can be very misleading.... Edit: Beatle, who's headstone will say that "he died after riding Son of Beast at Kings Island Amusement Park in Mason, Ohio"
  17. This could mean many things: 1. They decided SOBs fate long ago, and there has been no need for further discussion 2. The discussions are taking place in Sandusky and those in Mason are not privy to what is being discussed 3. They really don't have a clue 4. They have no plans to close Geauga La-- Uh, oh......
  18. I too took a trip to the park tonight. The land clearing does indeed extend to the right of the area shown in HTCO's pictures. I even used the telescope on the tower and ould see that the area has been cleared and leveled as far as I could see through the structure of the ride while looking toward the Rose Bowl.
  19. 1. I kinda liked the one at SFoG, but it didn't ruin my day or anything 2. I would actually feel unsafe if they DIDN'T staple me 3. Agreed 4. What did you like about it? I love hearing different opinions 5. Sure is! 6. LOL! I really jumped in my seat on the coaster when that happened! 7. I saw that ride at Hershey...were you kidding about it hurting? 1. Superman is short and boring with very few, if any, exciting elements. 2. It is actually safer and more comfortable if you are not stapled. When you are stapled, all of the energy that would otherwise be absorbed by your lower body gets transfered to the parts of your body that are not stapled, i.e. your head, neck and spinal column. Laws of physics stuff... 3. 'nuff said 4. The mine train was much better than most of the mine trains I've ridden. It wasn't as good as AE, but it was at least somewhat fast and offered nice views of the water and El Toro. 5. I wondered if you used my facebook pic (LOL! I know you didn't) 6. I jumped too... but I didn't Jump 2, if you know what I mean 7. I was completely kidding you. I was too tall to even ride it. Just my sense of humor. Have a good time at Hershey, and make sure to ride both sides of Lightning Racer!
  20. I was looking at the demolition with my kids, who rode GASM for their first and only time (it rained that day) less than a month before it closed. I hope they have a greater appreciation for what "once in a lifetime" means, and know that life carries no assurances that what is here today will still be here tomorrow.
  21. That's cool, the last time I was there, I found a pretzel in a trash can that was only half eaten! --Beatle, who likes to save his nickels, but likes to kid around even more sometimes
  22. I went to Six Flags America this year for the first time as well. I was also impressed by Wild One, as I was with their entire collection of coasters. I loved the first drop and airtime hills on Superman. I liked Roar, but couldn't help imagining it with Millenium Flyer trains. And being able to park in the shade, return to a car that had not baked in the sun, and eat lunch in the parking lot under trees was wonderful. Not to mention the splash onto the Midway that surprised several people! I enjoyed myself that day and left with the feeling that it is an underrated park.
  23. I've seen large crowds all season, even on weeknights! It worries me, because if these crowds don't get lighter, people will stop coming. --Beatle, who is not always as serious as he should be...
  24. Nice PTR! A few observations: 1. You were better off not riding Superman: Waste of Steel (as my kids called it) 2. The ride ops on El Toro with the stapleing do nothing but ruin the ride. 3. Nitro is a wonderful ride. 4. I liked runaway mine train. 5. That view of El Toro is great. 6. If you liked The Dark Knight, you will like this: http://www.hornblasters.com/video.php 7. If you found the kiddie rides at Great Adventure to be rough, stay away from the Lady Bug ride at Hershey, that one will kill you. (Just kidding, Have a good time!)
