  1. I must agree. The Beast lake had its share of not so pleasant odors as well, as I recall.
  2. It didn't smell like it last week when we rode it, and it didn't burn my eyes when I got drenched like pool water always does, but that may simply mean that there's not as much chlorine in WWC as in a pool. Then again, there wouldn't need to be because they make people keep their shoes on. IMO, the bottom line is, I wouldn't dip my bare feet in the swill at the bottom of a WWC raft if everyone else before me had done the same. Maybe I'm developing OCD in my old age.....LOL!
  3. The water in WWC is lake water, while the water in the waterpark is at least chlorinated...
  4. Because hundreds of bare feet in that muck at the bottom of those boats would just be a breeding ground for fungus and God knows what else. I'll pass on getting ringworm, thank you....
  5. Yep, the lack of monitoring of the Gold Pass lot is aggravating to me beyond belief!!! I paid for the right to park there and when I see those parking spaces being taken by people who didn't...... Let's just say, I feel like I've been ripped off.
  6. I'll be 40 in October. Interp is right!! I don't know anyone my age who still rides coasters or goes to parks. They all tell me I'm "crazy." I'm glad I have kids so I can make a superficial excuse that always seem to satisfy them!!!
  7. Heh....have fun never riding it again then!!! I don't necessarily have a problem with that........ After only three years, the sprinklers don't work, the fire is apparently gone, the on ride audio never worked and I never really thought the ride was all that great to begin with. Plus, the effects entertained the kids, who now think the ride is boring without them. The ride has become an afterthought in our daily routine at the park, meaning that, we will ride it after we have done everything else, but only if the line is short.
  8. I rode SOB today and found it to be every bit as rough as it has ever been. I thought it was going to shake my teeth out of my head in the rose bowl. It was the first time since it first reopened that it has felt that rough. It was also the first time that I have ridden it on a hot day in the mid afternoon while the track was in the sun. I am certainly not an expert in this area, so I was wondering what if any effect the heat and sun heating the track has on a coaster? I know (from High School level science classes) that matter expands when heated, but dont't know what, if any, effect that would have on something like SOB.
  9. If you're close enough to the park, Monday nights are great. Light crowds and lots of walk on rides. Then I would recommend watching the fireworks from the Tower. You can usually walk right up to the rail. Your kids will love it!!! As for BB, I don't really know. The only times I can get there during the day are on weekends, when its always packed.
  10. Thank you all for your kind words/ I always look forward to the first "summer night" of the season. But after the weather we've had this year, last night wa extra nice.
  11. Well, after work today, my two boys and I decided to go to the park. They kind of wanted to play basketball with the new hoop I put up this week, but I subtly talked them into going. We had a rough start as rush hour traffic made the ride to the park a little long, but we got into the park shortly before 6:00. Their spirits rose when they saw many school busses leaving the parking lot as we parked and walked in. We started with the traditional first ride on The Beast, and waited about 15 minutes or so. Then ate at the Rivertown LaRosas. We decided to skip BLSC because the fire effect wasn't working and rode Vortex in the back with about a three or four train wait. Then we rode Zypher and saw some kids get kicked off the ride for sitting on the rails, twisting the chains and generally being unruly....... First time I saw that this year. (Kudos to that ride op!!!!!). Then the Red Racer..... We had seen that they were racing the trains the whole time we had been in Coney, but our train left alone. Then we saw that the blue train was stuck at the top of the lift hill. Some girls in the stuck train started booing as we went by and my kids started chanting "You're stuck!! You're stuck!!" (Like the infamous "You suck" chant). I told them to shut up immediately then had a little talk with them after the ride about Karma........ Then AE, the typical walk on....After that it was over to Action Zone where they fought about Drop Tower. My oldest (9 years old) is afraid of it, so I made the "executive decision" that we would skip it and the bickering that would result. So, next was SOB, where we rode in the back and had a surprisingly smooth ride on the blue train. When we got back to the station, my youngest son's hair was sticking straight up in the front. Even I had to laugh!! Needless to say, I then had to diffuse another "situation". Sigh.......... Then uneventful rides on Flight Deck and Fairly Odd Coaster, before the, again traditional, last nighttime ride on The Beast. It was a very short wait in the station, but the ride ops all recognized me and my children. Our favorite ride op saw them and smiled, called them by name, and gave them a high five as their restraints were checked. Then she had the driver ask them to raise their hands and introduce them as "our friends here on The Beast" or something like that (I didn't really hear because the kids were both excited and yelling)..... They were absolutely thrilled!! I can't say enough good things about those ride operators!!! Then we went to the front of the park, watched the fireworks with the fountains and the Eiffel Tower in the foreground... (I'm still not tired of that sight after watching it for over 30 years).... We talked about how we were all very happy that this was the first night this season that we could wear shorts and t-shirts at night and watch the fireworks comfortably. It was perfect!! Now the point of this post....... On the ride home, the three of us talked, laughed, and continued to have fun. All of the small troubles of the day were completely forgotten. Hearing them tell me what a great evening it turned out to be is what KI (and, in some ways, life in general) is all about in my mind........ Thanks for reading, Michael
  12. Sunday nights in the park are usually quite reasonable in terms of crowds/waits. I like to go on Sunday night, especially when all of the housework and preparations for the coming week are done. I have always found going to the park without any outside distractions to be a wonderful experience.
  13. Well, to get back to your original question, I Googled the Peter Gabriel song you asked about. Let's just say that it has been covered numerous times. Wikipedia alone lists 11 different artists who have done so. The next time I'm at the park (Friday night), I will keep my eyes on the queue line tv's and let you know who the artist is if I see it.
  14. The answer to the loose article problem is simple: Cargo Shorts. With six pockets you can easily everything you need for a nice day.
  15. Thanks for the report. I am planning on taking my kids to CP for their first trip July 6-8.
  16. Could your great aunt have missed the story about SOB reopening last year?
  17. I rarely, if ever, see lines of any great length at the food places, but there is always a huge line of people getting their hands stamped for reentry around lunch time... You would think that management would figure this out, but they apparently don't get the basic economic principle that a reduction in demand should result in a lower price. Until they do, they will continue to nickle and dime (oops, forget the "dime") us to death and the parking lot will be the most popular food location at the park.
  18. Well, first of all, I should have used "scumbag" rather than "redneck." But, as I have said before, I smoke and follow the rules, so it angers me when people blatantly violate the rules with impunity. Sorry if you took that as a slur, but most of the words I thought of when I saw that happening would violate the KIC Terms of Service (following the rules again ) But, you are correct about the origin of the term "redneck:" however, I believe the modern slang usage of the term connotes something quite different, is somewhat humerous (ala Jeff Foxworthy), and provides a benign substutute for terms that are far more offensive. This is especially true, because. when it comes to rednecks, I am one........
  19. I would guess that there are more injuries caused by shopping carts than by amusement park rides........
  20. BAD 80's music!! New Kids on the Block, Wake Me Up Before You Go, Go...... That's about when I tuned out..... I Did hear "Psycho" by Puddle of Mudd today. I like that song, so apparently there has been some improvement.
  21. When exactly did Redneck become an appropriate slur? How else do you describe a man who is wearing a tank top that used to be white (I will not describe it in a manner that may be a slur against those who engage in domestic violence ), covered in tattoos and who looks as though he hasn't bathed for a considerable period of time?
  22. The music has been so bad this year I've learned to tune it out.......
  23. I have never seen more smoking violations than I did today. The worst was in Rivertown where some redneck was playing the basketball game with a cigarette dangling out of his mouth. The kids running the game did nothing
  24. WOW...did you happen to have a camera handy? Trust me, you wouldn't want to see those pictures......They were NOT!!!! attractive. How did I know that I would get a response of that nature when I posted that ............LOL!!!!
  25. I love Vegas...and I left Hamiltucky years ago...thank God I should probably go to Atlantic City..... sure it's "touristy' and dirty, but I always win at the Blackjack tables there. And you ARE right about Hamilton, there are a lot of people here who have more tattoos than teeth........
