That was my assumption as well. I noticed one large rectangular hole by SOB. My guess (and I emphasize the word guess) about that would be that while they were removing the fill for Swan Lake, they found something buried back there that the EPA would require them to remove. (for example an old underground fuel tank that may have even been buried there before 1972).

I was just kidding around... sorry if it came across differently.

Pay attention to that last line AZ Kinda Guy........ She may look good now, but things change once you say those vows. I'm just kidding you, have fun tomorrow!!!!

Great!! See you at the park!!! If I'm too rough on the kids, let me know
-
Yep. That was us. I remember you........Say hello next time we see each other!!! I've never met anyone from here at the park before. I think it would be nice and my kids, who read this stuff with me (They love to read Interp!! He makes them laugh!), would love it too!!
-
Maybe. We were there around the end of the rain. Line was about to the tunnel when we started and they complained about that. I was wearing a navy blue shirt. My kids are cool. I may complain, but I love them..... If the guy repeatedly said "Will you two please calm down/be patient" That was me........

My kids have baseball games at 11.... I KNOW what they will want to do after that.... I will be wearing a Dayton Air Show tee if its warm, a tanish flannel if its cool, or a brown leather jacket if it's cold. And I will be the guy with the 2 boys who will inevitably be picking on each other

There are a LOT of class acts in these forums. That's why I enjoy them. And, Beasterfan26 can use any of my quotes as satire in his doodles anytime!!!! I can laugh at myself and I often do!!!!

These are classics: But its not only at the park. In Court Wednesday: Attorney: You located my client's birth certificate in the purse with the drugs. Detective: Yes Attorney: Do you know when the State of Ohio issued that birth certificate? Detective: Uhhhh.... I would assume right around the time she was born........ I should take that attorney to the park. I could probably add a lot to this thread if I did.

Doesn't sound like your brother in law was a real big help either.......

As long as they aren't wrong like they were last week. When we got home Sunday (around 6:00), it was 52 degrees.

I rode it last year in the front and back. Althought the front may be painful, I found the back to be worse. But it did improve at the end of last year and when I rode it on Sunday it seemed just as good as it was at the end of last year. Maybe I should try the back again because I haven't ridden back there recently......

To this day, The Beast is my favorite Woodie. There is nothing like riding it at dusk as the fog begins to fall over the track. It's funny, it's almost spiritual to ride it then. At dusk in the fog...... Top of the first lift hill looking at the fog coming off the river....... Top of the second lift hill looking at the lights of the park through the fog........ Temperature not too hot or cold...... Without a care in the world...... It is perfect!!! See, you completely understand! So do you, my friend. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can appreciate that. See you in the fog (If its not too thick:) ).

Me too!!! Vortex must be ridden in the back!!! Getting pulled over the first drop and through the loops feels awesome. The airtime on the first drop is very good. I love seeing my neck chains floating in front of me. Other caosters vary... Flight Deck is best in the front for the visual and because there really isn't a lot of difference in intensity between the front and the back. On woodies the back is the best, except SOB which is too rough in the back and the restraints always staple you in. I prefer the first or second car......

Well, I don't know of anyone being hit but I've seen some close calls. When you drive down that main driveway between the gold pass lot and the entrance, people dart in front of you. It's scary. I think a traffic/crosswalk light or a security officer stopping traffic to let people cross would solve this problem. That could be done at no cost because they always have two or three security people making sure noone cuts through the cones, they could just move one of them to the driveway to direct traffic.

Copperheads are rare but not unheard of in this part of Ohio. Every once in a while, in especially long hot summers, a few timber rattlers will migrate into Ohio. As for critters at KI, I have seen groundhogs (1 on sunday in the grass south of The Beast's first hill and 1 last year that had actually dug its hole under Vortex). And possums (or opossums, depending on how you spell it). And rabbits and Great Blue Herons (in the lakes.) And, BTW, black snakes, even though they are big, are actually very pleasant animals. When I worked my college summer job on the grounds crew of a golf course, we welcomed the black snakes because they kept the rabbits, racoons and other digging rodents away and made our job easier. But the old ladies playing golf in the morning weren't real happy when they would crawl onto the fairways and cart paths to warm themselves in the sun early in the day........ So, needless to say, I handled black snakes a lot and found that they were not aggressive at all. It got to the point where I would just pick them up with my bare hands without a problem. Probably because they were cold......

And, back on topic, I believe the orange wristbands are for taller people who are under the maximum height. I know someone who is tall and they said they were given a wristband for that reason. (I'm only 6'1" so I never have that problem, just repeating what I've been told)

In line for Flight Deck "Does this ride go upside down?" (HELLO, McFLY!!!! ANYBODY HOME?! You just walked through the longest queue in the park and saw the whole ride!!). My 7 year old (and future forum member) quickly corrected them. Then he answered several other questions that they had that actually were semi-intelligent. THey probably though I was nuts for having kids that knew so much about the park......

When we were watching the show there were a lot of people there, but it was raining at the time. So, it was hard to tell how many people were there for the show and how many were just trying to stay dry and how many were there for a combination of both.

I remember that...it was for the pictures taken by Keyhole Photo not the on-ride photos Two years ago I bought a keyhole photo off of the website that appears on the little tickets they give you. At that time you could download the photo and then email it as an attachment. I believe you can still do that.

I voted for ok because the girl in the white shirt stole the show!!! She could just flat out sing!!!! After hearing her, the rest of the performers, although they tried hard and did their best, just simply were not as good. I'm a country (and music in general) fan and that girl was better than a lot of performers I've paid to see. Not to disrespect the rest of the performers in the show, but after hearing her, the rest of the show was kind of disappointing..... And the acoustics in the Festhaus are awful.......

What Was Your Impression of KI for Opening Day 08?
BavarianBeatle replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Well, it was wonderful to get back to the park!! The first drop of the first Beast ride felt so good!!!! Red racer was smooth and I felt the airtime more than I had in years. Wings was the best food value at a park in a long time. Probably the most improved thing at the park!!!! The construction has to be seen to be appreciated. It is HUGE!!! Now the bad.... First the weather, which no one can control. Second, the queue line music was still terrible. Some televisions were blaring so loud you couldn't talk over them, others were silent with the video running, and others weren't working at all. They need to fix this!! Two of the food service workers made mistakes, but that will solve itself in time, I hope!! But, overall, a good day!! To quote the movie Bull Durham "I'm just happy to be here!!!!" -

After eight years, it's not so sensitive anymore. I'm much more "old and wise" than I am sensitive and fragile. My kids and I had a ball today and I loved being with them like that. -
I thought the girl in the white (don't know her name) had a wonderful voice. As far as I'm concerned, she was so good she actually made the rest of them sound bad.
