  1. He is phenominal. Glad to see all the posts about Rush in this thread. I actually pulled out 2112 (on cassette) and listened to the whole thing. Classic!!!! Back on topic, How about 'Electric Funeral" by Black Sabbath for Flight of Fear? Or, I'm serious now, Brady Bunch songs for the now-forward Racer?
  2. The Bat was incredible for its time. But if it existed today it would be obsolete to the point that it would not be as good as Flight Deck..... IMHO. It was not as high or fast and it was very jerky in the turns and, as we all know, didn't work particularly well... But it deserves its place in history as a groundbreaking coaster that paved the way for others. I still like looking off of the lift hill on Vortex and seeing the footings that are still there.
  3. If its all about nostalgia, thy should play Brady Bunch songs in the queue lines!!!!
  4. I've always felt the same way!!! It's not Paramount or Cedar Fair or ride names or anything other than the fact that for those few hours we are at the park, all of our troubles in the outside world cease to exist and I can spend real time with the ones I love with no distractions. it is pure fun and we have nothing to do but love the park and each other. I hope my children learn that too.....
  5. We went and got ours passes today. Very quiet. Delerium was the only thing testing. It was unusual that you could hear it in the parking lot...... Just being there was AWESOME!!!! Especially on the first day I was able to wear shorts this year! Less than 2 weeks......
  6. BLSC: "Fuel" by Metallica ("Give me fuel/Give me fire") SOB: "Coming Undone" by Korn (No referrence to the accident intended). Vortex: "Land of Confusion" (Disturbed not Genesis) Racer: "Born to Run" Bruce Springsteen The Beast: "Unchained" Van Halen Adventure Express: "Welcome to the Jungle" Guns N Roses I'll think of more later.....
  7. In time I'm sure I will get used to the new names. I have no problem with FOC or Wild Thornberry's, so it won't take me long. In 2 weeks, I will just be happy to be there and the names won't really matter.
  8. For us, it's The Beast, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Vortex, then through Coney..................
  9. And that last bunny hop........... I remember having bruises on the top of my thighs from those lap bars. And my mother seeing me flying inti the air and yelling at me to hold on while I laughed. Yes, the good old days.
  10. I always loved that view when I was a kid. I can't wait to share that with my own children. I never thought I would be able to do that.
  11. You might be a Kings Island addict if you have skipped work to go to the park. (But, of course I've NEVER done that:))
  12. Looks like the quickest on Opening Day will be the first right, past Scooby Doo and then prety much straight back. Wonder if we'll see any other construction on the other side of that walk through Rivertown?????
  13. Yes, I had a lawyer. The judge's decision was OUTRAGEOUS. The lawsuit was over a relative's will. And the judge allowed my greedy, rich, opponent to do something that the Will didn't. The judge over-stepped his authority. I could appeal, but lack the money. So I got screwed out of my inheritence. And after losing my job in January, you can only imagine how unhappy I am. On a positive note, I really do like my temp job and hope that it'll go full-time. Good luck...... I don't know if you are a religious man who would appreciate this, but I will make sure that I pray for you and your family.
  14. Yep, that was a fun little ride.........Used to go to GL in the evenings when I was in law school and living in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland. It really was a nice little park back in the pre-Six Flags days....
  15. Great idea!!! We'll all be at the park anyway. You all would have to tolerate my kids, though....
  16. I joined last year. It's been wonderful. For several years after my wife died I was occupied with raising our children, working, etc. and didn't get to the park much. But now that they are a little older (7 and 9), and hit the magic 48 inch mark this year, I am happy to report that they inherited my love of roller coasters and amusement parks. I found this site while I was trying to answer their questions about what KI was like when I was their age. Then I read the forums and joined..... This is a great site and I'm glad I'm here. My hat is off to those who run it!!! Like many others who have posted in this thread, I like the respect that is shown among the members. I have learned that there are things in life that are truly important and that having fun with your family is one of them. Both the park and this site have aided in that learning. Thanks and best wishes to all..........
  17. Mine was the Scooby Doo at KI. A long time ago........
  18. In turn, insurance companies are normally far more generous and approving than would be required under their policies. In fact, if something is ambiguous in a policy, the company is obligated to find for the insured. Don't always believe the commercials they run during Jerry Springer. I think it depends on the company. Having worked with insurance companies, I have found that some are very fair and reasonable, but they seem to be the minority in the industry. I saw one case where a certain company sent a person a letter saying they wouldn't cover a fire under a homeowner's policy on the basis that the fire department sprayed water on the fire making the damage "Flood damage" which was excluded under the policy. And, no, I'm not kidding.
  19. I find that many (not all) insurance companies are greedy and seemingly do all in their power to avoid paying legitimate claims. FOr example, I remember all of the people in Louisiana and Mississippi who had to sue their insurance companies after the hurricanes just to receive the coverage they had paid for.
  20. The Beast is first and last every day........ Then Backlot Stunt Coaster, Vortex, Racer, Adventure Express , Flight Deck, and SOB. (My kids aren't 54 inches, so FoF, Firehawk, et al. are not options. I will not make them stand in line just to watch me ride rides that they cant!!!!) After that, its up in the air.......
  21. I couldn't agree more....... Just seeing the memories sitting outside in the cold and rain almost makes me want to cry sometimes.........
  22. Thats right. I forgot that.... Even though I don't care for insurance companies, I can't have sympathy for Paramount on this one......
  23. Here is the link to the actual decision. It was a contractual issue between the insurance company for RCCO and Paramount. There is no indication that CF was substituted as a party, so this apparently has little, if any, effect on the current status of the park. Personally, I have my feelings about the situation...For example...If the coaster wasn't built to specifications (i.e. the plans), how was that missed for so long? If Paramount didn't carefully check something that important, I'm glad they aren't in charge anymore......
  24. I have always said that they need a museum. But, in many ways, Halloween Haunt acts as a de facto museum with all of the props from defunct attractions that are used...... Which, every year, always makes me think that they need a museum for all of that stuff..... Also old park maps and year-by year photos of the various areas of the park would be awesome. Here's another idea ( i.e. pipe dream).... A Brady Bunch reunion at the museum......
