I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BavarianBeatle replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
well, in the last few posts, I've heard that KI workers are "in prison" and that they can't get more than 15 hours of work a week. I never worked there, but this seems like one of those arguments that depends upon the perspective of the speaker and will not be resolved easily. But this is the 4th of July................. We are all free to work at KI or anywhere else we choose. And we can quit any job we don't like, and we can say whatever we want about any employer, within certain reasonable boundaries, and we can criticize our government and its policies with regard to the regulation of our employers of for anything our government does!!! And we can choose to serve in the military and defend those freedoms, or we can choose to denigrate the military... etc, etc, etc Like I said, this is the 4th of July. Remember our freedom, and those who have suffered and died defending it!!!! -
I-Team Investigates KI Foreign Worker Program?
BavarianBeatle replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
Where are these people from? They could always go to many countries and work in a sweatshop for 16 hours a day. And the pay for that 16 hour day may be a few dollars, at best. And, if they complained about the conditions in those countries, there would be consequenses............ Unlike in America where we have freedom of speech..... -
Cedar Point Changes Line Policy

Wow! How about those trolls? -
There are no compartments on WWC and shoes are required. Your shoes will get wet. AS for getting drenched, I've found Congo and WWC to be "hit and miss." Typically the cannons will hit one side of the raft and the other people will stay dry. Same with the cannons on Congo. The elephant on Wild Thornberry's will get you wet. But theres water in the bottom of the boats on that ride too.

The first thing I would do is ask the doctor(s). Some rides with high G forces, like Invertigo, FoF and SoB, place a lot of stress on your body, so it would be wise, in my opinion, to ask a medical professional what effect the rides would have on your casts and splints. Even if you miss out on a few rides, your health is more important!!!

Death at SFOG
BavarianBeatle replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And many times every day, we trust others to do things like obey red lights and stop signs. One violation of those kinds of rules could end a life in nothing flat. Just reminds us that life itself is precious and we should appreciate every day we are given... -
Sorry, I read this before your other update. Here is a link with regard to the air show performance on the 4th. Looks very good!!!!
-
Very nice!!!! Except that I hate mimes....LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! But have they said who the pilots in the air show will be? I am a fan of air shows, as are others on here, and I was just curious who would be doing the flying that day, if they have said. If it's someone who has been around, there will be videos of their performances on the internet that could be an additional marketing tool for the park.

It depends on the time frame of the rumor. If it's next year, it will never happen. Eventually, in all likelihood, it will................... But if he meant to say that CF is planning 3 new coasters for KI, that is possible, in theory anyway. But a lot can happen between now and the time when any new rides will be installed........

I would suggest Backlot Stunt Coaster for the first ride. It's small, short, and not terribly intense. And the line tends to get quite long at times. Then head over to Coney Mall for The Racer and Adventure Express. For eating, I would suggest Wings. It is $15.99 for adults and $7.99 for children under 10. They have a wide selection including desserts and a salad bar. Also, you won't get stuck buying something at another venue that your kids won't eat. Trust me, if you bought a salad, a meal, a drink and a dessert separately at other locations, the price at Wings is very competetive!! And the Larosa's in Rivertown is still there...... Also, don't forget to hit the flat rides, such as Drop Tower. Delerium and Sling Shot (if you don't mind the upcharge which varies during the day). My kids like the Action Theater too, for some reason. As for the water park, the water Saturday was downright COLD!!!! I would do the locker thing when it came to changing clothes, but that's just because I don't like walking around in wet clothes. And one one last thing, don't ride Son of Beast in the hottest part of the day. Wait until the sun starts to go down and is not shining directly onto the track.

Death at SFOG
BavarianBeatle replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, with all due respect, that kid died as a result of his own stupidity. I know that sounds blunt and insensitive, but the truth is the truth. Like the girl in Oxford, Ohio last year who got drunk out of her mind and wandered in front of a train......... Although there may be debate and discussion about who is responsible legally, the bottom line is that earthly law is always trumped by the "law of survival" (which is a quote from Benchley's Jaws II book about someone who was scuba diving drunk)......... With that said, my thoughts and prayers are with that family. I lost a wife, but I still counld never imagine losing a child. God Bless his parents!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Wallenda to Break Record at Kings Island, And Other 4th of July Events
BavarianBeatle replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island
I'm from Hamilton, so I can tell you that photos of many of the people at that parade would be "entertaining" as well, just in a different way. But the kids and I will be there on the 4th. Sounds like it will be a fun day. -
You had to mention bees on the day I got stung at BB.....LOL!!! But it looks as though they are finished taking soil from the area behind SoB. The last time I was there it had been filled in and regraded.

What are you thoughts on Flashback: Totally 80s?
BavarianBeatle replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Well, I saw it today for the first time. I didn't care for that type of music in the 80s but the performers were fine. The 80s for me was more Van Halen, AC/DC, and Judas Priest, etc. I was thinking that if any of the performers ever happen to make it big, videos of them in those wigs are going to be all over youtube. -
In my opinion, he was trying to save money on the food at the park LOL!!!!!
-
It depends on whether you are facing the front of the trains or standing behind them.....

are the Cicada's still heavy at Kings Island

Minor Change to the Wallenda walk at Kings Island, 4th of July
BavarianBeatle replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Wow!! The park is bigger than it seems!!! I never realized that distance was a quarter of a mile, give or take.......No wonder I lose weight in the summer..... And, I'm in a lot better shape than I ever imagined..... I wonder how many miles I walk during a park visit??!!?? I guess I shoud buy a pedometer...... -
Your trip report brought back a lot of memories of when I used to hang out with my sister. Enjoy that while you can. Life has a way of separating you sometimes......

I remember the fish at Sea World in Aurora. They were all HUGE!! If you started throwing popcorn in the water all you saw were big round carp mouths sticking out of the water. Not one piece of popcorn ever made it into the water. But, I'm here to tell ya', those carp didn't smell too good!

Teenagers rollover van on way to CP

Yes. If. in fact, the driver of the vehicle was driving carelessly or recklessly and caused a crash, the injured people should be fairly compensated for their injuries..... -
Drew??? Every time I've seen County Line the girl in the white steals the show with her voice. But the brunette in the red shirt has always been very kind to my children. And we have the flags to prove it.

That's because most folk are not from Atlanta that live here. The metro area is 5 million people and they expect it to be 8 million in 10 to 15 years. It's rare that you actually meet someone that was born and raised in or around Atlanta. And most of the kids I grew up with in Union had parents who were from Kentucky and Tennessee and moved to Ohio to work at GM or NCR in Dayton. You always knew that your girlfriend's father liked you when you were invited to come "down home" with their family for a weekend....... I have a degree in History, and I find it very ironic that the city that was once burned by General Sherman has become less "Southern" than a part of the State where Sherman himself was born....... Life and history are funny that way.......

I've never heard Ohio referred to anything but the Midwest. It's certainly not an Eastern State and it sure ain't a Southern state. I don't know..... Years ago, my wife and I took a trip to Atlanta and then stopped by my old home town of Union, Ohio on the way back. Even she noticed that the people in Union had more of a drawl than most of those in Atlanta.
