  2. I loved The Raven as well. The day we were there the lines were short for it all day. I was thinking, "These people don't appreciate what they have....." But with that said, those Golden Ticket awards on Raven's sign were definitely given for a reason.
  3. My first trip was 1972. I was 3 1/2. The park and I grew up together, I guess you could say. Our family didn't have a lot of money back then, so my sister and I used to save Top Value stamps to trade for KI tickets. There are too many good times to say which one is the best..... But the worst had to be the time I went with the youth group and got sick (stomach flu, not from rides).
  4. A man looking at the construction site today said, "That's just another water ride." Guess that red track wasn't enough to give him a clue.
  5. Be careful.... Most of those ride ops are underage.... But they have done a wonderful job all season, IMO!!
  6. I'm sorry but I just don't want to leave this alone. Clearly, this is a person with quite an ego. I can't get the image out of my mind of this guy walking along... with the floor actually sticking to his feet. I've had the opposite happen (usually at home), but he must have caused a real mess in that place. I hate to play "pile on" but, I will If the first thing I noticed when I walked into a restaurant was sticky, disgusting floors. Filthy tables and unreceptive employees, I don't think I would even attempt to eat there. I agree. I was at a fast food restaurant several years ago and saw a worker wipe sweat off of her forehead, then immediately use that hand to put lettuce on someone's food. I politely asked for my money back and ate somewhere else.
  7. I don't know if KIC Mobile members will necessarily be the first to know............Some of us will be there...............
  8. And for that oil stain on your shorts, use OxyClean and a toothbrush........ It will come right out!
  9. I went to Holiday World for the first time last week and had a great time. Both parks are wonderful in their own way!! I would say that its impossible to actually compare the two because they are different types of parks, geared to different types of visitors. KI is for thrill seekers while HW is more family oriented. It's like comparing the old (pre six flags) Geauga Lake to Cedar Point. I used to live around Cleveland, and which of the two I went to on any particular day depended on what I was in the mood for. And I loved them both. But, I will go on record, and say that The Voyage is better than any of KI's woodies, IMHO............. And my 8 and 9 year old kept their hands in the air for the entire ride,,,But they did that on MF at CP too.... Bottom line, it's a tie in my opinion, neither park is any better or worse, but they are different.
  10. Awesome TR!! KI is about that special family time. I have about 3 more seasons before my kids won't want to be seen with me, and I always appreciate every moment with them, especially after July when I look at the park schedule and see that the season is winding down. And, btw, your 12 year old has good taste in music. Hope she's not a "Problem Child"
  11. Epic LOL. I'm always cranky. Had you bothered to come to the event last year, you'd know that. The fact of the matter is, neither you nor I know what attendance is like at Kings Island this year. I can tell you that the park has seemed busier than usual these past few months. I must agree. It seems that the number of park patrons has noticably increased this year.
  12. Ahhh...Tumblebug. Much better than what is at that location at KI now......
  13. I should NOT allow my children to read KIC!!! Yesterday, at The Beast, the train returned to the station and, in front of us in line was a child (about 12 years old) who was riding for the first time with one of his friends and appeared to be afraid. The rider before him was riding alone. That poor child asked why one of the seats was empty and my kids told him that the other person "probably just fell out, it happens all the time." I quickly reassured him that they were just teasing him. Then reprimanded my kids and reminded them that not every person at the park is a coaster geek, I mean fanatic, like we are..... --Beatle, who's 8 year old rode Millenium Force for the first time with his hands up the entire ride (and is WAY too proud of himself as a result )
  14. Sunday nights, between the weekend crowd and those who are taking vacation during the week, always seem nice. But: Any day I'm at an amusement park is a good day.
  15. I think Skyhawk's ride cycle is too short, but it's a fun little ride as long as there's not too long of a wait.
  16. Those higher supports are apparently for the roof of the station, while the lower ones are for the track, or floor.
  17. If the "r" key doesn't work, how were you able to type "r key doesn't work"? Just kidding you. Hope you enjoyed your visit!!
  18. We're going to Holiday World this Monday (I'll be sure to post a TR, maybe even with pictures this time!), and being the researcher I am the best price I'm able to find is AAA which is $5 off the gate price. We're going to use the Pepsi can discount, which is currently $4 off at the gate (it changes at different times of the season), because we don't want to be stuck with tickets in case something were to happen and we weren't able to go. The tickets at the hotels were not as good. No deep discounts that I can find, unlike what's available for KI now. Even without factoring in the would-be price of parking and drinks, Holiday World will be making more $ off of us in this one visit than a single visit to KI if I weren't a SP holder. If I weren't a KI SP holder I would have gotten a deep discount, and still been turned away by the high food prices. With HW's more reasonable food prices, we won't be going to our car to eat or an outside restaurant like we do with KI. And there sure as heck aren't any deep discounts for our trip to WDW in September. Every year we do two parks in two days, and the past two years we have been extremely fortunate enough to have a friend who works there who is able to get us comp tickets for one of those days. So that leaves us with having to pay for one day. The discounts really kick in around the 3 to 4 day ticket range, but that's fine with me. WDW is a whole other beast than the seasonal parks. Now on the topic at hand, I like the idea of the wristband, but it's really not worth it for us. Besides water, we typically get one souvenir cup refill per visit, which we share between the 3 of us. And that doesn't make us criminals, we just don't drink enough Coke products individually to warrant 3 different drinks. I was at Holiday World this past Sunday. Ate two meals (for me and 2 kids) in the park for a total of around $30. About the same as we would spend at Frisch's or wherever else we would eat off site around KI.
  19. Speaking of employees who have to deal with repetitive and annoying sounds, imagine the poor souls who have to work at Action Theater..
  20. Sorry for the double post, but I should be serious about this. My children have always wondered what the "big deal" is about The Beast. I took them to CP for the first time this year and took them on Gemini. Then, after the ride, I gave them a little history lesson about how Gemini was the biggest thing on the planet prior to The Beast. I started that discussion by asking them how they would compare the two and they were like "are you kidding?" For those of you who weren't around in 1979 and have ridden both Gemini and The Beast, that is how high The Beast "raised the bar." so to speak. KI and CP were rivals back then and The Beast beating Gemini, needless to say, was nothing less than (I don't know how else to put this) an a$$ whipping of monumental proportions. At the time, it was huge, not in just in size, but as an "event." I remember the signs in the midway near Antique Photo stating that you have a 2 hour wait for The Beast, the actual drink stand where the vending machines now stand, and all of the queue lines being open and full. Then I explained to them that The Beast was designed without computers (or Thrillville), and that the designers used pencil and paper to do it. And that it was done "in house." Not by an independent engineering firm. I think they got it...
  21. My 6 year old (at the time) got lost at a county fair after I had staffed our office's booth and was wearing a shirt identifying me as an assistant prosecutor. But, obviously, the deputies there knew me and responded immediately!!! He was found after the scariest few miniutes of my life.
  22. Well, I love that story about The Voyage. Ironically, the kids and I were at Holiday World today.........I hope I'm still able to do ride things like that in 42 years.... But "old" is a state of mind more than anything else... Age is a number, which relects nothing more then the date that you were born. When I'm at amusement parks and riding rides, I'm the same "age" as my children......
  23. I think it's interesting that they said in the last paragraph how The Beast was "unchained." Sounds familiar http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...12591&st=15 (See post #17)
  24. Very nice. Reminds me of my grandparents, who have been married for 66 years next month.
  25. Also, the park usually clears out quite a bit on Sunday nights. Sorry, I won't be there tomorrow. I will be with my kids at Holiday World.
