Actaly, Vortex's restraints are the same. I even asked the ride op about it. All they did was put this special tape around the restraints. They sure felt different.A lot more comfy.

All of the coasters I was on today had some kind of upgrade with new restraints or new seats.Beast and Racer had new seats and new seatbelts that were kind of hard to pull out in some seats.Backlot had new seats and new black lap bars.Vortex had new seats and new restraints.They were more like the restraints from 2 years ago and thankfully not the painful ones from last year.

DB was down for only about 10 minutes today.The wait from under the sign is about an hour.Maybe a little less. I got in 3 rides today.I thought that the outside rows were better than the inside rows.Felt really different to be on a coaster that was open on all sides.Night ride was really awesome.You're just floating there in the darkness.Really gave it a different flavor.

My gf thinks I'm crazy for getting up early to go to KI.I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one obsessed...er...enthusiastic about opening day and DB.

It was fantastic to see the Eiffel Tower and The Racer being built.I had no idea that HB was involved in the design of Enchanted Voyage.From the video it sounds like International Street was originally intented as an area unto itself rather than just a collection of stores you walk past to get to the rides and attractions.

That's why they've added the southern friend chicken.

Sponge Bob is great to go on when it's raining and all those rides are closed.

This is great news.I think The Beast ran really great last season and this will make it even better this year.

The removal of Flight of Fear was planned by CBS before they sold the park.It was planned to move it to Carowinds and re-theme it as a music themed coaster.Cedar Fair has no plans to remove it at this time.

KI still has a copy of the song.Just a few years ago they used to play it before the HB movie(the one where Elroy Jetson gets kidnapped)at the Action FX Theater.

In an area not accessible to the general public. Just to clarify for everyone,the queue itself is not accessible to the general public but you can look at it from the midway.That area is double freaky with the shut down former food stand right next to it.

i also noticed this, along with the red racer getting a far higher ridership this year compared to the blue racer. That's because the blue side was closed most of the time.

During the Haunt hours all the rides except for the ones in Nick U and Flight Deck(because of Club Blood)are open.

I hadn't planned on going today.My friend Gary had asked me if I wanted to go with him to see our manager play with his band at Tabby's on Kings Mill Road.it was his suggestion that I hit up KI beforehand since I would be in the area anyway.I arrived at the park around 5.I was thinking about what to ride first.I thought Firehawk.With a quick look at the line I guesstimated that it was a 30-45 minute wait.I decided to come back before I left so I wouldn't have to waste time waiting when I could be riding. I walked past Vortex and wondered if it was open because no one was there in line.I saw people walk into the qeue so I knew then that it was open.I waited for the front seat(3 train wait).The middle of the train didnt have anyone waiting when I was at the statio.When my train pulled back into the station there were a few people waiting at each gate.I guess everyone decided to come at once.As I exited I saw the sign for the Fx theater that said it was closed for the rest of the season and a new haunt was coming.I guess people can only watch SpongeBob chase the pickle so many times. After that I made my way to The Beast and had my longest wait of the day,about 20 minutes.This was because they were adding the third train to the track.Great ride as always.As I got off the ride i said hi to Ronny. I decided to ride Avatar next and as always a fun ride.Made my way over to Action Zone.Only had a one ride wait for Delerium.The guy next to me was saying he thought it was more intense than any coaster. Then I rode Drop Tower twice in a row,no wait for Flight Deck,and no wait for Invertigo. Invertigo was a headbanging good time.When I got off I thought of Ned Flanders' son on the Simpsons."Oh my freakin' ears!"The young guy in front of me had his ears banged pretty good by the restraints too. I decided to make my way over to The Racer and then Firehawk as it was starting to get late. The Racer was only running the blue side.Unusual since every time I've been there this season and they were running only one side it was always the red side.A walk on and a nice ride considering it was the blue train. I got in line for Firehawk about 7:45.Only about a 15 minute wait and I had fun ride on the yellow train. By then the park was closed and I made my way out.I went over to Burger King for some food and to chill out.Then I met up with Gary and we watched our manager's band.They did mostly covers but had a few originals. Overall a really fun time(but I've yet to have a day where I've been to KI not be fun.Tiring perhaps, but always fun.)

Oh boy did I get my rest lol.I slept until about 11 am.My body felt numb by the time I got home.

It was great to meet others from the group and to put faces to the names.It was the most amazing day ever at KI.Can KIC the Third Coming top it?
