  1. ^Its a car pool parking lot for commuters.
  2. I don't know about you, but when I'm eating LaRosa's outside the park, I'm reminded how much better it is than it is in the park, especially with the added selection of their hoagies and calzones.
  3. Anyone else here find it odd that the Soak City webcam is facing the car pool parking lot? Also, the tubs have arrived on the site of Woodstock Gliders.
  4. Holiday World advertises sporadically around here as does Dollywood. In recent times for the later, I remember a giant Wild Eagle advertisement right next to the P&G twin towers on south I-71 before the tunnel. You couldn't miss it and it was in view of a very large quantity of traffic. Cedar Point has a bit every now and then as well. Kentucky Kingdom only did when they were opening large attractions. I remember ones for Chang, Twisted Twins/Sisters and Greezed Lightning quite well. I've never seen Kennywood. The furthest park, aside from Disney and Universal Studios, that I've seen is Six Flags Great America advertising on Pepsi products.
  5. But what if I read the title of this topic between April 18th and November 1 this year?
  6. 1. LeMarcus Thompson's Scenic Railway in Atlantic City, NJ (Thompson developed the first patented roller coaster) 2. Harry Traver's Crystal Beach Cyclone, Crystal Beach- I would bring my own padding and ways to keep my head stable though. Probably some pain killers as well. 3. Shooting Star, Coney Island- Cincinnati 4. Drachen Fire, Busch Gardens Williamsburg (and while I was there, Big Bad Wolf) 5. The Bat- Kings Island (circa 1981)
  7. This looks mighty impressive for a coaster built in-house.
  8. Considering the train will be probably be doing 65-70 mph at that point (just a guess), it'll make for a pretty intense high-speed near miss.
  9. I rode the Smurf's Enchanted Voyage in its final years. I was very young at the time and also wasn't a fan of dark rides (they frightened me), so I probably wasn't of the mindset to appreciate it. It took me a while to warm up to the Phantom as well, but once I did, it was a staple of every visit to the park.
  10. 1. In GCI I trust 2. No 3. 1989 I believe 4. Phantom's Theater by a mile
  11. It's also putting KICentral at major risk as well, especially in this case where the site would be the source of the leak. Not too sure Don, Kings Island, or Cedar Fair (to name a few) would look too kindly at that.
  12. Seriously. Don't. Say. Anything. Even if they're hints. You'll save yourself soooo much trouble.
  13. I don't bother to think about the long term future of this park. It seems better to view this park on a year-by-year basis.
  14. Then again, I'm not sure we'd be seeing these sort of promotions at all in the Kinzel era. People gotta eat, right?
  15. If they're smart about it, they should have balls with UK and UL logos on them.
  16. I also hope for the sake of the food department staff that this maintains some sort of consistency.
  17. The station for Fury and the new entrance to the park are coming along nicely. Some of the work around Fury's dive below the path is starting to be built as well.
  18. Hey, at least those of us without the meal plans know when to eat and when not to.
  19. And there was much rejoicing.
  20. It always impresses me how quickly rides, particularly coasters, go up. This went up a lot faster than I expected, especially for it being so tall and long. Then again, Carowinds doesn't have to put up with the type of weather the more northern parks like Cedar Point or Kings Island have to deal with.
  21. At least on their Facebook page, they indeed state that opening day is April 25th. I think this business about their operating schedule is a testament to how much they're relying on social media. https://www.facebook.com/kentuckykingdom/photos/a.599973010036875.1073741827.150584424975738/906938196007020/?type=1&theater
  22. I have phases of music I go through. I'll be stuck on one group or genre for a while and switch to another. Its a very random thing. My preferred genres are jazz of any type, classical of about any era (using classical to describe orchestral music is a very broad term), movie scores, classic rock, some alternative rock (I don't like it too hard, the likes of Alice in Chains and Metallica is as hard as I go), some R&B, a bit of Motown, good covers of songs, and some concert band literature. I also love to transpose music so I can play it on my saxophone. I'd be hard pressed to pick a specific group, composer, or artist as my favorite, but my favorite piece of music of all time is Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin' (the original version, though, I also like the Blues Brothers' cover).
  23. Also, Kentucky Kingdom, before and during its Six Flags' tenure, has advertised in the Cincinnati area before. I distinctly remember advertisements when they introduced Chang, Twisted Twins/Sisters, and Greezed Lightning.
  24. I get why some people do some drugs, but not meth. Its made of the most insane ingredients, screws you up in multiple ways, and can kill you in many ways by just making it.
