Well, the kids would like it...introducing Vrtx! Oh-you meant the actual ride's loops...

Do the seats move in AT any more? They didn't the last time I tried it...

It's so hard to imagine walking around KI, and everything being brand new. On a side note, I'm sure that when KI opened, they wanted Coney Mall to emulate Coney Island. After just shutting down a popular amusement park to open a new one, they wanted former Coney patrons to feel at home. With that being nearly 40 years ago, it doesn't seem like there would be too many Kings Island goers that care whether there was a "Coney Island" section of the park. Even though CM hasn't looked like it did in '72 for quite some time, I wonder if this latest remodeling effort will move even further from the original concept.

Gosh, I would pay admission to be able to go and watch them work on the park during the winter. All of this construction/rehab stuff drives me nuts (in a good way) during the offseason!
-
Actually, I think that shop employees are ordered to run to the person that fell into the fountains and try to sell them a Kings Island life preserver...right after Keyhole photographers catch the "once in a lifetime" moment...

What is your favorite memory of the the 2010 season?

I have to go with this... http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22072 -
You really have to search for it on the park's website, too. It seems to have been taken completely off the "front" page. Strange.

According to my calculations, if the cap was 60 feet in diameter (I'm guessing, I may be way off)...That cap goes into the ground about 6.5 feet, on top of the H-pile sections 90 feet into the ground...whew! I think sometimes we forget that, although we're at an amusement park, we walk among some massive feats of engineering!

SOB never had that title from me before, during, or after I rode it... Who knows, maybe KI will try a prototype giant swinging ship ride...SoVF, anyone?
-
For a short time, TR:TR was my favorite ride in the park.
-
Interesting. How big are the piles?
-
What kind of foundation do they put down for a ride like WindSeeker? It kind of boggles my mind to think of what they need to put down for something like that.

Maybe it was so that people knew it wasn't an attraction, and not try to enter it, or something else.

Should KI and Cedar Fair Discontinue Halloween Haunt?
KIfan73 replied to RaptorGuy's topic in Kings Island
http://www.flayme.com/troll/ But Raptorguy didn't reply to a question, he started the thread. A thread that no one had to reply to. -
I wonder how successful it would be if the park would be open in November, with just a couple rides operating, along with Starbucks(and maybe a couple other eateries)being open, and the shops open for Christmas shopping.
-
Waiting in line was as much of an experience as the ride itself was!
-
I think the atmosphere with the fog, etc. is neat in the fall at KI, but I guess I just like the fact that they're open. I'd probably go in November if they had "Thrills 'n Thanksgiving", or probably even in February for "Coasting with Cupid". What do you think?
-
Top Gun was quite the experience when it was new. I remember the ride ops in flight suits, the "windshield" of the "sub", the three dimensional jet coming off the billboard, the fog...and of course, the soundtrack.

Should KI and Cedar Fair Discontinue Halloween Haunt?
KIfan73 replied to RaptorGuy's topic in Kings Island
Hopefully, people let Kings Island directly know how they feel about Halloween Haunt (or anything else related to the park), good or bad. -
Of course, there are the new Yogi and Smurf movies coming out in the next year. It's a crying shame that Yogi's Picnic Basket restaurant never saw the light of day. What a great Rivertown restaurant that could have made!

Fascinating info in this topic. We are so lucky to have such knowledgeable people on here. Those Hanna Barbara Land sketches are some of the coolest things I've seen in awhile. If I didn't know any better, those buildings look like they could have lined International Street. I can't help but wonder if H-B is still popular enough for a H-B park, or park area to go over. I know I'd go!

I don't normally visit that close to school starting, but it was nice to snag one more summertime visit. Thanks.

Yes, this TR is from over a month ago, but I've been so busy since then, I haven't had time to post my pics. I took some photos from some not-so-normal views, so I wanted to share them. It was very hot this day, so I took several rides on Congo-including a, wait for it,...Zen ride on Congo! Yes, even though this was a crowded ride on this day, I actually ended up at one point having a whole raft to myself. I also tried the backyard bbq this trip. I think it's a good deal (especially for gold pass holders), and the facility is great. However, I felt a little bit isolated way back there, and kind of missed the Festhaus. Oh well, never hurts to try something new. Of course, as always, took some obligatory KI shots. Enjoy!
